I Unbox My New Promotional Postcard!
Once again I must appeal to my widespread and knowledgeable readers, to beg a translation for the handwritten message squeezed into the pale part of this 1907 postcard - all I know is that I very much like the model poised so elegantly atop this annotated block!

As far as I understand the inscription on your photo is in Bulgarian:
Андрей, Честитъ ти именъ день, за много години. Пожеа ваме Ви щастие и успехъ. Андрей, тази картичка е подобна на твоята, наято ми прати, за имениятъ ми день. Приеметъ поздравъ отъ ?Всички ни Пеша.
This card is send to a certain Andrej on his name day. The sender(s?) wish him happiness and success. They also say that the picture reminded them of him.

Real photograph postcard of two identified young men in suits and bow-ties, one wearing a bowler and one with a straw hat, ca 1919. Watch fobs hang from their lapels. They sit in an elaborate scene of tree logs and climbing flowers. Back of postcard blank, printed: “Post Card, correspondence, name and address, place stamp here with CyKo logo”

Dating to 1905, this glorious flower-strewn scene of summery bliss created by Wilhelm von Gloeden was sold as a postcard (the publisher’s initials AE a co-incidental match for this very blog!). A fine souvenir for the traveller to treasure, or perhaps a treat to send home to a friend who shared the same appreciation of aesthetic beauty and male beauty combined!

It has been an awfully long time since I shared a photograph of Ange Camilli, 1st prize winner in an early physical beauty contest (later to become the body building still with us today). Published - sadly all censored - as a set of postcards circa 1920, by Alfred Noyer of Paris.

What a pretty postcard to send from a stay in the Sicilian coastal town of Taormina; a handsome young man to share with admirers of a fine male form back home. Attributed to variously von Gloeden and publishers Lehnert & Landrock, but a gorgeous model with a charming subtle smile and bewitching eyes, whoever captured him on camera.

Two different copies of the same photograph, published as postcards by Alfred Noyer of Paris, in the 1910s or ‘20s. A great part of the appeal in these pictures is their age, all the signs of wear & tear and the fading effects of time are a wonderful reminder of the years that have passed, all the places the prints have been kept - was each individual copy treasured and passed on with care; or forgotten, only to surface later for a whole new audience to appreciate.

As the first photograph of Ange Camilli was so popular when posted, here is another fine picture of this remarkably handsome man. Sadly, the rest of the set have been censored to preserve his modesty at the time of publishing, and it appears the unedited images have never been made available.

The exquisite Ange Camilli, first prize winner of an early bodybuilding contest in France - probably c1920 from the quality of the photograph and style of his hair. Images from this glorious set are often incorrectly dated to 1863, because of the AN Paris 63 in the lower right - but this refers to publisher Alfred Noyer and his numbered registration of patent on the set.

A 1905 postcard by Wilhelm von Gloeden, beautiful in its tones of hazy blue, and the oh-so-handsome model bedecked with a wreath of laurel leaves. The image is, in fact, cropped from a larger photograph, one of a set taken some time between 1895 and 1898 at Monte Ziretto, Taormina. The full scene, with a second young man almost entirely trimmed out of this postcard version, can be seen here.
