Margaret Smyth

The bravest thing

she ever did

was to stay alive each day.. .

————————————————————————————————————————

Anybody else want a full backstory on Hector Barbossa? We know some about his life from the extended written series, but a movie focused on him would be amazing. Also, I want more of an explanation of what happened between Barbossa and Margaret Smyth. She seems like she must’ve been a special woman to attract the eye of the notorious Pirate Lord.

She came from the ocean,

this wild girl from the sea,

her hair flowing southwards,

she walked towards me.

A west to east smile,

with eyes steely grey,

like a storm in the distance,

rolling in from the bay.

We kissed with the sunrise,

made love when it set,

a promise by moonlight,

came dawn, my regret,

He left for the ocean,

this boy from the land,

his spirits soar northward,

his heart in her hands.

“When Margaret died, I summoned as much honor as a worthless blackguard ever could. I placed the infant in an orphanage, never to see her again. I thought the ruby might afford her some ease in life…but I never imagined she’d take those scribblings and make a life of her own.”

—Hector Barbossa, POTC: Dead Men Tell No Tales

Margaret: I was a rambunctious child. Always causing mischief and getting into trouble. Honestly, I think my Mother was a bit relieved when I ran away. It would break her heart to know what I’ve become.

Hector: And what have ye become?

Margaret: A pirate.
