Tartan Dress | 1835⠀ ——⠀ As an American, I don’t think anything is more sartorially evocative of the Christmas season than velvet tartan. Especially when it was made into a dress for Princess Victoria (later Queen), to whom we celebrate for giving us many of our modern holiday traditions. ⠀ ⠀ I added the last picture with Lucy Worsley next to the dress. I am always astonished at how unbelievably diminutive in stature Victoria was. The definition of “small but mighty”.⠀ ⠀ (@royalcollectiontrust Number: RCIN 71984)⠀ ——⠀ #christmas #fashion #victorian #victorianchristmas #queenvictoria #tartan #velvet #style #design #costume #mode #winter #moda #art #history #royalcollectiontrust
