In 2020, many Muslim worshippers observed Ramadan under lockdown, with bans on communal prayers to curb the spread of Covid-19 in full force. ⁣

This year, however, some countries have eased restrictions and welcomed congregants for taraweeh, the special nighttime Ramadan prayers, with strict limits and health protocols in place. ⁣

Others have closed mosques and imposed curfews once again during the holy month, encouraging people to refrain from large gatherings and pray at home in certain zones where virus cases are spiking.⁣
