An Outing With Five Children.

I’m currently writing on mobile so I will update this when I have access to desktop.

Conan swallowed nervously. A thick tension hung in the air, a knife could barely pierce it. Today was supposed to be a fun day, a day where the small detective could finally relax and not worry about any murders.

But now, as Okiya and Amuro glared daggers at each other, Conan had to worry about who was going to murder who first. How did he get into this situation in the first place??

… Oh right, the professor is sick and Ran had extra karate practice to get to. Somehow, a miscommunication led to both Amuro and Okiya chaperoning the Detective boys trip to the newest amusement park. Haibara had immediately claimed to have to take care of the professor as soon as she found out Okiya was chaperoning. Without her, It was up to Conan to take care of both the two feuding adults and the children who never seemed to stop getting into trouble.

He sighed. If he came out of this alive, he was going to take a long trip to anywhere but Tokyo. Even Osaka seemed more appealing than this right now.

Ayumi grabbed Amuro’s sleeve, pulling him away from his glaring contest with Okiya.

“Ne, Amuro-Niisan? Can we go ride the super coaster first??” She gleefully begged.

The other kids joined in, pulling the two adults in different directions. Mitsuhiko thought it would be better to go see the games first, since the coaster had a huge line. Genta agreed with Ayumi, However it was Okiya who made the final decision.

“Why don’t we go and see what there is first?” He suggested, “The line should go down as we explore. Much better than waiting for a long time, right?”

The kids frowned slightly but admitted he had a point.

“Hold on, Why don’t I take Ayumi and Genta to the Super Coaster and we wait in line? That way I can hold our spots and let Conan know when we’re close to the front?” Amuro spoke up.

“But then we’d be having fun without you guys!” Mitsuhiko protested.

The other two protested as well, forcing Amuro to follow begrudgingly. Conan could see in his eyes he didn’t want to be anywhere near Okiya if he could help it. But at the same time there was something that just kept him near the man. It puzzled the young detective, their relationship confused him.

(HIm, It was him that kept Amuro from leaving.)

The games weren’t that special, themed of course to the park’s theme but otherwise didn’t have anything too special to those at other parks. Some ring toss booths that Conan could never remember winning in his life, A water shooting game with the balloon that pops, and numerous easy to win games for the children who were too young for the skill based stuff, just to name a few. But what attracted the detective boys was the infamous shoot the star out game. They eagerly paid the tickets needed to play and grabbed the bb pellet gun, aiming carefully. As soon as the buzzer rang they began shooting rather erratically, exhausting the ammo in mere moments. The papers with the small stars pulled forwards as the attendant took them and inspected the torn pieces of paper. Genta frowned as he found he did the worst out of the three, leaving nearly the entire star untouched.

“Man! This game is unfair!”

“Then why did you play it then?” Conan muttered.

“Okiya-Niisan, Amuro-niisan, Conan Why don’t you give it a try?” Mitsuhiko suggested, holding his nearly shot out paper.

There was a small bit of red left, meaning he didn’t get a prize either.

“Ah, I don’t-” Conan began to speak but Okiya interrupted him.

“We’d love to, Wouldn’t we? Amuro-san?” He calmly spoke, Glancing to the cafe worker.

“Of course, It sounds fun.” Amuro stepped up and took the gun from where genta stood.

Okiya followed suit by taking Ayumi’s place, inspecting the gun’s weight in his hands.

Conan felt a bead of sweat fall down his neck. Amuro was doing the same thing, nearly the same actions as Okiya. These two really were more alike than they thought. Conan sighed and took a spot between the two, picking up the gun. The two secret agents gasped quietly, both grabbing the gun in front of Conan. Their eyes met, first with surprise but slowly turned to a subtle glare.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Amuro kindly asked Okiya.

“I believe I was going to show Conan-kun here how to properly shoot a gun of this kind.”

‘It was just a BB pellet gun’, Conan miserably thought.

“I see, you’ve shot BB guns before then,  Okiya-san?”

“I have, back in America.”

“What a coincidence, I have too. How many years?”

“About 4, I’d say.”

“Oh?  Well I have 5 years of shooting behind me.”

“I see,  I see…  But have you considered..”

Their level headed argument continued,  under the guise of conversation.  The detective boys watched with awe but Conan could tell, the two agents were arguing over him. The attendant sighed, leaning on his elbow and hand.

“I don’t get paid enough for this.” Cojan heard him softly mutter.

Eventually, Amuro conceded the gun to Okiya with a well hidden pout as Okiya began to show Conan how to use it.

“Ah… thanks, Okiya-niichan…” He muttered.

‘Not like I didn’t already know how to use one…’

With that thought, the three took their places and waited for the bell.  With a loud, deafening tone the three began to shoot the rapid fire pellets.

Within moments, the stars were pulled forward and the kids gasped.  Both Okiya and Amuro had neatly shot out their own star.  Conan had as well but it wasn’t as neat as the other two, a few stray pellets hitting the edge of the paper.

The two agents looked at each other’s paper,  Conan felt deep in his bones what was going to happen next.

“Ah, you’re quite adept at that, aren’t you Okiya-san?”

“You’re not as bad yourself, however you did miss a small bit right… there.”

The kids swarmed Amuro’s paper, where the smallest, most microscopic dot of black was left.  The worker shrugged.

“I’ll allow it.  What do you three want?”

The two adults ignored him, continuing their small squabble.  Both Conan and the worker sighed.

“We’ll take whatever you wanna give us.” Conan muttered.

The worker nodded, forcing three plushies into Conan’s arms.

He turned to the adults, a defeated look on his face.

“What do you think, Conan-kun?!”

“Your thoughts,  Conan-kun?"

The two turned to the small detective who simply blinked with surprise.

"Ah… ” his eyes darted back and forth, looking for salvation,  “look!  The line for the coaster is down!  Let’s go!”

He darted off, the other detective boys cheering with glee.  The other adults were forced to quit their childish argument and follow, much to their frustration.

Maybe this outing wasn’t going to be as bad as Conan thought.

Perhaps it would be worse.
