#relaxed hair

LIVE

Hi ladies! So over the last few months, I have been rocking my duku (headscarf) as a protective style mainly because I am overdue a relaxer and haven’t had the chance to get one.

All I do is braid my hair (6 cornrows), put on a wig cap and then put on the scarf. I like to wear a wig cap because it prevents the oils in my hair from getting onto the scarf and it also prevents the scarf from pulling my hair. I like to dress it up with a simple makeup look - click for video, some big earrings and of course, the edges stay laidt!

I use 2 types of scarves - an oversized rectangular one and a pashmina scarf but I think African print fabric will look really cute as well.

The pashmina is softer and easier to manipulate although you have to figure out how to tuck in the tassels if you don’t want them to show

I am not sure if you ladies have had much exposure to Mizani, but if you are like me, you would have had the impression that the range was just for relaxed hair. Boy have I been proven wrong! I had the pleasure of meeting with some members on the Mizani Ghana team and I must say, I am more than excited to try out their products!

The team was very welcoming, and took the time to explain all the products that they have available in Ghana.

You must note that Mizani is a professional product, so not only do they provide salons with products, they also train their hair stylists (very important, especially here in Ghana). For me, the most exciting part is that since the team is based in Ghana now, there will never be a situation where you go to the store to look for Mizani only to be told “please madam we don’t have it.”

Since Mizani is coming to us from L’Oreal, we can definitely be guaranteed that the product gets the job done. I currently use their Rose H2O Conditioning Hairdress but as soon as I get my claws on their other products, best believe we will have some videos on this channel (yas she’s back)

So, products - the most exciting product for me in this portfolio is their ThermaSmooth range - this product has been made especially transitioners / natural hair gals / pregnant gals/ gals who just do not want to use chemical relaxers / gals who are stretching out their relaxers . This product gives you a smooth sleek finish that lasts for up to one week ( I am sure we can stretch it to 2 weeks) and will not revert back to the natural texture until you saturate your hair with water. This is especially fantastic for my transitioning ladies who continuously ask me if there are any products that will help make the journey a little smoother. I personally transitioned for 10 months, and girl, if you are not new to this blog you know it was quite the struggle ( I have a few videos /posts here, here and here)

This photo truly captures my excitement for Mizani Products

Let’s not ignore their range for the natural girls! Their True Textures range has puddings, co-washes (cleansing cream), shampoos and some oils that are specifically formulated for natural hair. The truth is, sometimes I prefer to use natural hair products (shampoos, moisturisers etc) on my relaxed hair because they are formulated to have extra moisturising properties - perfect for my dry relaxed hair. I think the most important thing is to know what your hair needs and then catering to those needs with specific products.

Experiencing the product in its full glory

So where does one purchase Mizani from? You can get some of the retail products from beauty supply stores such as Angels, however, the team emphasised that it is best to go to one of their partner Salons (Exotic Trendz/Niobe/Senam’s/Marie Noelle/Allure/First Choice) for a consultation and product recommendations. For more detailed product info check out the Mizani Ghana Instagram Page @mizaniofficialghana

I will definitely be going into detail about products - pros and cons etc etc as we do, please make sure you are subscribed to my blog and my YouTube Channel so you don’t miss a thing!

Hi ladies! Check out this video I shot with Dark & Lovely a while ago. Although this was shot over a year and a half ago, I think the tips and tricks shared in the video are still helpful!
