Everything You Need To Know About Whether Women Can Use Men’s Shampoo

Most people have been there, you’re enjoying a nice hot shower and want to wash your hair. That’s when you realize you have no shampoo left. If you’re lucky you have two options.

Use the man’s shampoo in the showerGet out of the shower and check your cupboards for another bottle of shampoo

Let’s face it, number two is never an appealing option!

Fortunately, the simple answer to whether women…

I am not sure if you ladies have had much exposure to Mizani, but if you are like me, you would have had the impression that the range was just for relaxed hair. Boy have I been proven wrong! I had the pleasure of meeting with some members on the Mizani Ghana team and I must say, I am more than excited to try out their products!

The team was very welcoming, and took the time to explain all the products that they have available in Ghana.

You must note that Mizani is a professional product, so not only do they provide salons with products, they also train their hair stylists (very important, especially here in Ghana). For me, the most exciting part is that since the team is based in Ghana now, there will never be a situation where you go to the store to look for Mizani only to be told “please madam we don’t have it.”

CEO of Melyn Hair Studio (Primary Distributor of Mizani In Ghana) explaining a few technical aspects of the products

Since Mizani is coming to us from L’Oreal, we can definitely be guaranteed that the product gets the job done. I currently use their Rose H2O Conditioning Hairdress but as soon as I get my claws on their other products, best believe we will have some videos on this channel (yas she’s back)

So, products - the most exciting product for me in this portfolio is their ThermaSmooth range - this product has been made especially transitioners / natural hair gals / pregnant gals/ gals who just do not want to use chemical relaxers / gals who are stretching out their relaxers . This product gives you a smooth sleek finish that lasts for up to one week ( I am sure we can stretch it to 2 weeks) and will not revert back to the natural texture until you saturate your hair with water. This is especially fantastic for my transitioning ladies who continuously ask me if there are any products that will help make the journey a little smoother. I personally transitioned for 10 months, and girl, if you are not new to this blog you know it was quite the struggle ( I have a few videos /posts here, here and here)

This photo truly captures my excitement for Mizani Products

Let’s not ignore their range for the natural girls! Their True Textures range has puddings, co-washes (cleansing cream), shampoos and some oils that are specifically formulated for natural hair. The truth is, sometimes I prefer to use natural hair products (shampoos, moisturisers etc) on my relaxed hair because they are formulated to have extra moisturising properties - perfect for my dry relaxed hair. I think the most important thing is to know what your hair needs and then catering to those needs with specific products.

Experiencing the product in its full glory

So where does one purchase Mizani from? You can get some of the retail products from beauty supply stores such as Angels, however, the team emphasised that it is best to go to one of their partner Salons (Exotic Trendz/Niobe/Senam’s/Marie Noelle/Allure/First Choice) for a consultation and product recommendations. For more detailed product info check out the Mizani Ghana Instagram Page @mizaniofficialghana

I will definitely be going into detail about products - pros and cons etc etc as we do, please make sure you are subscribed to my blog and my YouTube Channel so you don’t miss a thing!

.Haircare For Hardcore Humidity | Lee Stafford Frizz Off Range.

This hot weather is absolutely glorious but it’s reaking havoc with my hair! The humidity and looming thunderstorms have been causing frizz like no other and I’ve been forced to tie my hair back most days to avoid looking like Hermoine Granger circa years one and two!

But never fear because Lee Stafford have created a whole range of haircare to help combat frizz and I’ve been testing them to see if they can help us frizzy females!

Frizz off ShampooandConditioner* (£9.99 each) - I noticed a difference in the frizziness of my hair after just one use of this shampoo and conditioner set. Although it doesn’t lather up as well as i’d like, the shampoo leaves your hair feeling super clean while the conditioner gives you a brilliant boost of moisture. After drying my hair was smooth and frizz free (even at the ends) and stayed frizz free even when the thunderstorms rolled in and the humidity went through the roof. A great pair for an instant de-frizz effect!

Intensive Treatment Mask* (£12.99) - I love a good hair mask and this one does exactly what it says on the tin. It leaves your hair and ends feeling moisturised and frizz free with a bit more intensity than the conditioner above. It does (like a lot of Lee Stafford products i’ve tried) have a slightly mannish smell which isn’t really my cup of tea so this becomes more of a practical product rather than one for pampering. But it works really well and is easy to slap on while you’re exfoliating leaving it to work it’s magic.

Smoothing Keratin Spray* (£10.99) - I don’t like to put loads of products on my hair after washing but this has actually proven really great for taming frizz before i put my hair into my velcro rollers. I love my rollers but sometimes the ends of my hair can look a little frazzled when i take them out, but Mr Stafford’s Keratin smoothing spray helps to tame my flyaway ends and leave my hair looking even more healthy than with just the shampoo and conditioner alone. Definitely one i’ve been reaching for in the warmer weather and it doesn’t leave you feeling greasy or weighed down either which is another beauty bonus.

You can find the Lee Stafford Frizz Off range on their website here and in Boots starting from £9.99!

Have you tried any of the Lee Stafford Frizz Off range? Which is your favourite product?

Schwarzkopf Osis+ Mousse

So I have a little something to confess. Still, to this day, I have no idea what mousse is or what purpose it holds. When I think of mousse, I think of those super crunchy curls from the 2000′s that look like they’re still wet even though they’re dry. Do you know what I’m talking about? I hope so. Now, as a wannabe beauty blogger, I’m smart enough to know that mousse can be used for a lot more things than just that but I’ve never really experimented a whole lot with it before.

But 2019 is the year of trying new things so I’m starting the new year off by trying a couple of different mousses from Schwarzkopf! As the mousse newbie I am, I was previously unaware that there could be differences between mousses. Mousse ain’t a “one size fits all” kind of thang. It’s kind of like hairspray. You know how hairspray has all the different levels of hold? Well, so does mousse. And the Schwarzkopf Osis+ mousses has four different hold levels (but I’m only trying out three, don’t ask me where the fourth one is)!

The level one Topped Up mousse from Schwarzkopf is my personal favorite. It has the lightest control and is described as a gentle hold mousse. It gives the perfect amount (for me) of light volume with a healthy shine and it helps to protect against any heat damage! I also didn’t know that it was possible for a mousse to be in any other container than your standard aerosol can but you learn something new everyday! I love this mousse a lot because it doesn’t feel like I have any product in my hair yet it holds my curls so much longer than usual and it gives my hair a bouncy, touchable volume!

The level two Fab Foam mousse is more of a classic hold mousse with medium control. It’s not anything crazy but it does it’s job very well. Similar to the Topped Up mousse, it also gives lots of shine to the hair and protects against blow-dry damage. The only difference is that it gives a little more volume! The level four Grip mousse is your extreme hold mousse. This one is suited for when you want your hairstyle to stay in place for 48 hours. It’s crazy. It is ultra strong and gives so much volume! It’s such a flufffy, dense foam compared to the other two mousse’s so you know this one is really going to do it’s job!

Matrix Biolage Styling Glotions

I have a lot of hair products. A LOT. That’s mainly the biggest reason behind why I have such good hair. I’m kidding, I’m kidding. Well, I’m half serious. I do have great hair. (Shut up, Taylor). Okay, moving on. So yes, I have an abundance of hair products and I honestly thought I had all categories covered. But, then, Biolage sent me their Airdry Glotion and their Blowdry Glotion and I realized I didn’t really have anything else like them. My mind was blown.

TheBlowdry Glotion is one of my favorite products because it’s all you really need. Before this products, I was putting on 2-3 different serums, creams and oils on my damp hair after I washed it. But this Biolage Blowdry Glotion kind of combies all those things into one, saving me a ton of time in the morning. Essentially, this product is described as a Longwear Heat Primer. It has a medium hold to it (to lock your style into place) and it will give you the look of a professional blowout. I found it to be incredibly conditioning and nourishing on my hair as well as helping to control any frizz that I have (which I have a lot of). And, in addition, it has 450 degree thermal protection to keep your hair healthy. Somewhere throughout the past couple of years, I have definitely neglected putting any kind of heat protectant on my hair, which is horrible, I know. I guess the reason for that was I hadn’t found any sort of heat protectant that I absolutely loved so once I had finished using them up, I never repurchased one. But, fortunately for my hair, I really do love this Blowdry Glotion, so my hair is bound to be protected from the heat forever now. You’re welcome, hair.

The second product in the Glotion range is the Airdry Glotion. This one is very different from it’s Blowdry Glotion sister and designed to be used for a very different purpose as well. The Airdry Glotion is more of a multi-benefit styling spray for when you choose to just let your hair air dry. And lemme tell you, ever since I started my “adult” job and have to wake up at 6am, I’ve been incredibly lazy with actually styling my hair properly. Air Drying is now my new best friend. It’s such a time saver. I just wash my hair at night and let it air dry as I’m getting ready for bed. There’s no time for a blow dryer anymore (except for those glorious weekends). But to help my hair look more presentable when I do air dry it, this Airdry Glotion is a huge lifesaver. It’s a leave-in conditioning spray that gives a ton of shine to my hair while also detangling and minimizing any frizz! The frizz eliminator is my favorite part because frizz is the first problem I notice when I let my hair air dry! I’ve said air dry way too many times in these past seven sentences. I think that’s a sign I need to stop talking(writing).
