Bought a Rice Ball Mold set and made some rice balls!

Wanted to make better cat shaped rice balls with shrimp in them so I asked my aunt to help me buy this set online since I couldn’t find it anywhere in stores.

At first I had trouble trying to cut out the seaweed nori, but I am getting better with it.

I also had a setback with molding the rice but then it was pointed out that the rice would come out of the mold easier if you oiled the insides of the mold.

After that it was easier.

Then I wanted to try out the cheese cutter mold and got the idea to make scrambled eggs.

After cooking the eggs, I used the cat shape tool to cut out the egg in the shape of a cat then put American cheese on it.

Over all it turned out great and delicious!

I’m hoping to make voltron lions with this set someday!

Made a black lion rice ball!

I had just found some black food coloring today at the store and wanted to try it out and finally be able to make the black lion since it’s so hard to make black with the other colors.

And I also wanted to try my hand at making rice balls so this was a perfect test for it..

I filled the rice ball with shrimp (I know, How typical right? XD ) so it ended up being a sweet n sour shrimp rice ball not sorry! I love sweet n sour shrimp!

I’m not gonna lie, this was challenging. And dying the different colors for and connecting them to the lion was a bit hard. But well worth it! X3

I painted the red parts on with a chopstick and put on seaweed nori for eyes, nose and mouth.

As you can see, I put on the yellow dyed rice on for the glowing eyes. I felt it made this rice all look more accurate.

And yes I ATE IT! It’s mine so I can! XD

Sorry Shiro but this lion is my dinner X3

Sorry, not sorry! Lol

Onigiri  :)

A common snack in Japan, sold at almost every convenience store and in a huge range of shapes and flavours. It turned out I actually didn’t like them much since most Onigiri have a Nori (seaweed) wrap or filling which is incredibly fishy tasting. However I did find a ‘Cha Han’ Onigiri sold at the university shop which I adored.
