I think Mary Ann has her “manically ogle the Professor while he wrangles pigeons” look down pretty well. You can practically see little hearts shooting out of her eyes.

I love that he tries to save her from humiliation. He really cares about her sensitive feelings and wants her to succeed. I always thought this scene where he tries to come to her rescue was sweet.
