Forget what you know. Snow White escapes death four times. After escaping death by huntsman and meeting the dwarves, Snow buys three different items from creepy people out her window.

The first is corset which she couldn’t even tie. The seller - AKA the queen - had to tighten it for her and made such a good job of it, she left Snow on the floor to suffocate. The bloody thing had to be cut from her body.

We’re gonna blame oxygen deprivation and a natural inclination to shiny things for why she buys the second item, a comb. A poisoned comb. Which the salesman stabs her with.

I don’t know why she bought the apple. There’s innocence and then there’s fairy tale characters.

Anyway. Doing honor to the original story:

So you’re a new witch, or an old witch whose only ever known one path. Either way, you’ve been surrounded by the idea that there are good witches who wouldn’t hurt a fly, and there are bad witches who curse. I’m here to let you know that’s not quite how it works.

So you’ve heard that cursing is bad and if you do it, you’re a bad person. There are many things that witches will pull up to back themselves.

1. The Trifold Law or The Rule of Three

The Trifold Law is the Wiccan law that “states that whatever energy a person puts out into the world, be it positive or negative, will be returned to that person three times. Some subscribe to a variant of this law in which return is not necessarily threefold.”

But guess what! this is just exactly that: a Wiccan law. Yes, some non-wiccan pagans follow this law but that is solely by personal choice. It is first and foremost a religious law that you do not have to subscribe to. You do not have to believe in the Rule of Three in order to be a witch or practice witchcraft.

2. Karma

Karma, similar to the Rule of Three is “the spiritual principle of cause and effect where intent and actions of an individual (cause) influence the future of that individual (effect). Good intent and good deed contribute to good karma and future happiness, while bad intent and bad deed contribute to bad karma and future suffering.”

Once again, this is a religious law that originated in Hinduism! Eventually it spread to other religions, but is still just a religious law. You do not have to believe in Karma in order to be a witch or practice witchcraft.

3. Its wrong to hurt people

Hey here is an idea: people are allowed to have their own ideas of morality. If someone hurts them, and they wish to retaliate, they can do it. As long as they aren’t breaking the laws of their country, you or anyone else cannot dictate how they go about dictating the justice the seek. Everything is subjective, and no one gets to decide the way you practice your craft.

Moral of the Story

Its your craft, and if you don’t want to curse, then don’t! But if you do, that’s okay too! And you can be a good person either way!

Bide the Wiccan Law  ye must,

in perfect love and perfect trust.

These eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill,

an it harm none, do as ye will.

And ever mind the Rule of Three,

What ye sends out comes back to thee.

Follow this with mind and hear,

And merry ye meet and merry ye part.
