“Mikey! Wait up!” She calls out, waving her hand at her boyfriend. She’s running as fast as she can in these shoes, as well as holding her bag close to her. Mikey stops in his spot, looking around in a confused manner before his eyes land on Y/N. A smile. But Y/N is annoyed, frowning at him. “Why do you walk so fast?”

The blonde rolls his eyes and chuckles back at her, “You’re just too slow. Why do you look at every stall we pass?” Mikey grins at the gasp that emits from her, and the light hit in the shoulder. But allows Y/N to wrap her hand around his arm, hugging him closely as they walked.

She was having the time of her life, even though she was just a young teenager. Spending time with Mikey, with everything going on.

“Have you seen Emma and Draken?” She questions, glancing around again, “They said they were meeting with Takemichi and Hinata before.”

“I haven’t.” Replies Mikey, who spots a few games they could play. But he keeps walking, now having his mind set on finding his friends and sister. “Do you want to see them?”

She thinks for a moment. “Hm, I don’t know. I wanna’ spend time with you.” She states, smiling back at her boyfriend. A shrug of her shoulders. “You’ve been busy lately.”

That was right. He has been busy, he can’t deny it. Mikey nods his head, leading her towards one of the food stalls. After deciding what to get and finding a spot, the two set themselves into comfortable silence. She holds her skirt as she sits down beside Mikey.

“You look very pretty tonight.” Mikey claims, glancing towards Y/N. She places her drink on the table, a bit surprised by the comment. He turns away, rubbing his arm. “Sorry I didn’t say that earlier.”

“It’s okay, thank you, Manjiro.” She replies, holding his hand tightly beside her. Mikey watches her carefully. “You look great as well. Emma told me that you weren’t even planning on coming until she told you I was.”

He shrugs his shoulders and munches on his food. “Of course. She said that if I didn’t come then she would make Chifuyu take you.” He informs the girl, who in return slaps his arm with a frown. Mikey smiles again, leaning his head against her shoulder. “No, I wanted to come because you were. I have been busy.”

Y/N leans a cheek against him, using her other hand to brush fingers against his arm. It was nice to just be a normal couple of kids for once. Mikey was involved in so much drama and discourse that it made it hard for them to even pretend to be kids. And while she did deal with it, Y/N found it hard to keep up with him.

Mikey knew this himself. But he couldn’t afford to take a break.

“You’re sweet, Mikey.” She hums. He squeezes her back. “What do you think is gonna’ happen with Toman? Are you gonna’ stay with them forever?”

He halts himself for a moment.

What did he want?

He didn’t know, he couldn’t think about it.

So he didn’t. He keeps quiet.

And lifts his head, staring back at Y/N. “I don’t want to think about that right now.” He responds to her, hands falling on top of her knuckles. He looks serious, and his demeanour has changed now. Y/N gulps. “I just want to focus on right now. I want to be here with you.”

One of the only times he has been sincere.

Y/N then dawns a grin, pulling Mikey closer into a hug. “Alright, Mikey.”

A few minutes later and they’ve finished eating, ready to go find their friends. But as they walk through the stalls, they hear a call.

“Y/N! Mikey! Over here!”

Emma, holding up her phone, waves at her friend and brother. Draken stands beside her, hands in pockets and watching. As Y/N and Mikey turn around, Emma snaps the photo, gushing on about how cute the couple looked. The four grouped together.

The perfect day. All of them living and spending time with one another. What a nice life.

And now, Y/N stands with her weapon pointed at her greatest enemy, and her ex-boyfriend stopping her from pulling the trigger.

“Don’t tell me to wait.” She scowls, pulling her arm from Mikey’s grasp, “Don’t fucking tell me what to do.”

“I’m not telling you that you shouldn’t kill him.” Mikey responds, shaking his hand and turning towards Kisaki, “I want a hit first. Before you end him.”

Y/N knows she shouldn’t give him shit, because she’s so mad at the moment and the only release is putting that bullet through Kisaki’s skull. So Mikey doesn’t wait for an answer, just walks towards the guy on the floor and lines up a kick towards his jaw.

Kisaki gets knocked back once again, now holding his stomach in pain. He lets out a groan of pain, squeezing his eyes shut and laying on his side.

“I haven’t been here for a while.” Mikey hums out, tilting his head to the side, “It’s sad to see that everything has changed. But what’s worse, is to see that you haven’t.” He plunges a heel into Kisaki’s shoulder. The sound of impact makes Mikey blink. “You’ll never change.”

Kisaki looks up to Mikey. “All I’ve ever done was to try and make you powerful.” He complains, lifting himself back up with a hard scowl, “Why should I change when it’s benefiting you?”

“Did I ask for you to do this?” Mikey retorts, raising a brow. Kisaki only hardens his glare. “I don’t believe I did. Why bother yourself with my business if I didn’t ask?” He looks disgusted. “Fucking pathetic.”

“I DID ALL OF IT FOR YOU!” Kisaki shouts out loudly, making Y/N hold up her pistol again. She was so sick of this, of everything. She wanted to rest. “I THOUGHT OF TOMAN AND FOR YOU TO BE THE LEADER OF THE NEW DELINQUENTS! WHY ARE YOU REJECTING ME?”

Mikey, grabbing the hair of the boy in front of him, lifts him up harshly. “Because,” He begins, voice low and despising of Kisaki, “I’m not a little kid anymore. I can make my own fucking decisions.”

He looks horrified as Mikey drags him closer to Y/N. Up until her barrel is right at his forehead.

Kisaki has wasted his time. Has wasted his life contributing to some meaningless cause. If Mikey didn’t even accept it, then what was the point? Why did he do all of this? What was his goal? To gain power by outsmarting the enemy? How could he obtain such power when he always relied on someone else to act out his plans?

“Do what you want.” Mikey tells Y/N, watching as she sets her gaze on Kisaki. He lets go of him. This was out of his hands now. With how angry she was, Mikey doesn’t think that he can stop his ex now.

She sighs out slowly as her vision zones in on Kisaki.

She thinks how she should play this out. Maybe she could get some more information out of him. But why would she want to delay?

This scumbag who has caused so much trouble for her when she was trying her best to live, to be in control all the time. She’d never guessed that she’d have this chance, to talk to Kisaki before he dies, to make him confess to every little thing he’s ever done to hurt them all—

“You were useless to the end, Kisaki.” She mutters out.

He can feel his heart leap into his throat.

A loud bang sounds around the crowd. Followed by gasps and mutters.

Mikey watches as Kisaki’s lifeless body falls to the ground. Blood seeps through his hair and onto the cold concrete. His glasses discarded by his side, Toman uniform ruffled up and dirty. He is laying there. Alone. No one to die with him.

Hanma sits off to the side, his own hair dishevelled as he watches his best friend get killed by his boss. Nothing leaves his lips at that. He doesn’t look as upset as someone should; rather, he’s more annoyed that it has finally happened.

Didn’t Kisaki say he’d rule over all delinquents? That he’d be in power, with Hanma as his right-hand man?

So why in God’s name was Kisaki Tetta on the floor with a bullet through his eye and his blood splattered against the cold floor?

Hanma can’t believe it. He scoffs, “What a joke…”

Y/N lets out a breath, and falls to her knees. All that pressure and stress and build up, is finally gone. By the sheer relief, the sheer relaxation, tears bubble up in her eyes as her heart aches in pain. She holds her chest as she has her other hand, with her pistol, holding her up against the floor.

She has never killed someone with her bare hands before. Sure, people were sent to the hospital but no one has ever died because of her actions. What has she done? Is she now what she’s feared and hated the most?

A cough emerges from her as she clutches where her heart is. Tears are falling from her face and onto the concrete. It’s too much, it’s too much, it’s too much, too much.

Mikey takes a step away from Kisaki, and kneels beside her.

“Y/N.” He says quietly.

And she falls into him.

His arms quickly close around her and hold the Commander tightly. Head buried in his shoulder, she cries.

“I’m so tired.” She mumbles into his uniform.

Mikey pats her back. “I know. I’m sorry.”

A few seconds later, she lifts herself from him, and looks Mikey directly in the eyes. Everybody is on their toes about this interaction.

“I’m resigning as Toman’s Commander.” She states, making Mikey widen his eyes a little, “I don’t think I can do this anymore. I want to hand my position to you.”

He stops and rubs the back of his neck. “Are… you sure?”

“Yeah. Yeah, I am.” She huffs, wiping her cheeks, “I think they were right, you’re better suited to this job that I am.”

Mikey nods his head, sitting up straight. He felt as if this was something he couldn’t turn down. “Alright. I’ll be Toman’s leader again. You did an amazing job.”

“While we’re on the subject,” Lemaire speaks up, waving his bloodied handkerchief in the air. His Vice-Commander stands beside him. “I should say that Clair de Lune has lost this fight. We’re now under Toman’s command, whether it be to Hanemiya or Sano. And I’m sorry for your loss, truly.”

Y/N glances at him. “Thank you.” She hums.

Nobody breathes a word. Until the sirens are heard.

“We have to go.” Mitsuya says in a solemn voice, staring at Draken laying beside him. He rests a hand on his shoulder before standing up. “Y/N, Mikey. Let’s go.”

The other two get up as well. Mikey takes Y/N hand to follow Chifuyu, Takamichi and Mitsuya to the exit way, but she halts.

“Wait.” She says, “What about Ken? We can’t leave him here.”

Mikey clenches his jaw. The sirens draw closer. “I know we can’t, but we have to.” He tells her, squeezing her hand back, “The ambulances will find them. Don’t worry, he will have a fine send-off with Emma.”

She only stares at him for a moment. And nods her head, allowing Mikey to tug her along.

Y/N just wanted Emma and Draken to be okay again.

And maybe she would be as well.

When Y/N held the funeral for both Emma and Draken the next week, she sat with Mikey at her side in front of the rest of the crowd. Everyone was there. Parts of Mikey’s family that they still kept in touch with, Toman members, Lemaire and Lemièux in the back, and even some teachers at their high school had attended the funeral. Y/N had kept quiet in her seat as people said their goodbye’s.

Draken and Emma’s photos were placed side by side, flowers tracing their frames. Even though Draken’s family wasn’t present, the workers from the brothel had attended. They were all so kind to both Y/N and Mikey, having known their history and all that’s happened between them.

Tears and loud sobs filled the room. The two sat by the side hands on their lap. The people who have apologised — Mitsuya and Takemichi — had spent the longest time talking to Y/N and Mikey. They were quiet, and telling them that they hadn’t done enough to protect either Draken or Emma. The only thing that the hosts could do was say that it was alright, and allow them to walk back to their seats.

It was a harsh few hours, and some people stayed at the Hanemiya-Sano residence to speak to others as well as Mikey and Y/N.

She is sitting outside at the small table by the garden. Inside, it is lit up with chatter that she can just hear. Y/N had only been in there for 30 minutes before she felt clustered, and left for outside. Maybe it was because of all the pitiful looks she was receiving from people she barely knew. But she needed to be out of there.

Kazutora and Baji sit on both sides of her.

“Do you feel better?” Kazutora questions.

“Not sure.” She responds, shrugging her shoulders, “I’m glad it’s all over though.”

“You can relax now.” Baji says, sending her a big smile. She looks to him. Same goofy smile on his lips as always. Here she was, 17-years-old and conversing with her older brother of 15 and his best friend of 14. She still thinks of them as her family, those who looked after her. The people she tried to look up to. “You’ve been working hard these past four years.”

“Strange how you two just showed up this year though.” Y/N points out, leaning back in her chair. Kazutora watches her carefully. “I think that leaving Toman with Mikey was a good call. Everybody misses him, and I’ll be able to finish my High School life with a somewhat normal life.” She tilts her head to the side, neck aching.

Kazutora plays with his earing. “What will you do after school?”

She blinks and then looks to the fence. “I’m pretty good at my job. Waitressing, y'know?” She states, “I’m good at customer service. And I can help plate up and cook. I might do something like that while I study.”

“You were always the better cook out of the three of us.” Baji jokes, tossing a nod towards Kazutora. He smiles. “You’ll be fine, you’re the strongest person we know.”

Kazutora agrees, “The fact that you’re really there, is enough.”

Y/N stares at the two of them. She loves them both, and misses them dearly.

Her face burns at the statement. So she looks down at her lap, using the back of her hand to wipe her eyes. “Thanks, Kazu, Kei.” She huffs out, “I’m… I’ll come back here every year. For you two.”

Baji knocks a hand on the table. “Hey, even if you can’t, live a little, okay?” He tells her, “Live for us.”

She holds her breath for nothing more than a moment. And nods.

Y/N held her drink close in her palms, staring at the way the wine tipped around the glass. It was bitter and she didn’t like it. But she couldn’t take having to walk back in there and grab another drink.

“You shouldn’t be consuming that.” Mitsuya hums, closing the door behind him as he watches her look his way. Y/N blinks at him and puts the glass down. “You’re still only a Second Year.”

She responds, rubbing her cheek, “I know. One of Draken’s co-workers gave me this to calm down.” She swirls the nearly full glass. “I don’t like it too much.”

He sits down in front of her and takes the glass for himself, gulping a large proportion of it down. Kazutora and Baji have already gotten up, standing in the driveway behind Mitsuya. Both of them wave once, bright grins on their faces, and leave. Down the road. Y/N blinks a few more times and returns her attention to Mitsuya.

“I get it. Wine isn’t for everyone. Maybe you’ll like Soju.” He comments before giving her a look, “But only after you’ve graduated.”

She nods her head. “How do you feel?” She questions, hands on her lap.

“I, um… I miss them both. A lot.” Mitsuya responds, placing the glass down on the cold table, “But we both know that they’re happier together than apart. Listen, I wanted to talk to you about something. I was gonna’ do it after the brawl, but I wasn’t able to get a hold of you.”

At this point, she knows what’s about to happen. The reason she’s shut herself in after the brawl was because she was trying to escape everything. Mikey was the only one in the house, other than her.

And she knows that this will be the last of everyone together.

“I’ve decided that I’m going to be moving away after Luna and Mana graduate from this year’s levels.” He states, looking her directly in the eyes with no hesitation, “We’re going to be moving to Chiyoda, I got an apprenticeship offer there a while ago, and they said I can still accept it before August. It’s… a really good chance for me and my sisters. I hope you can understand, I’m not trying to leave you behind.”

“I do understand.” She replies, sitting up straight, “I get it. You’re not leaving anyone behind, I hope the three of you are happier in Chiyoda. It’ll be better for you.”

Mitsuya doesn’t enjoy the way she says that about their circumstances. He sips some more of the wine. “I heard that the Twins are planning to move as well, and open up their own ramen place.” He states, “And Chifuyu is gonna’ be making this pet shop. I think he said he was going to move out to the city, since there are more abandoned animals that need saving there.”

Y/N hums out, the wind blowing against her skin, “Oh yeah? Hina and Takemichi are probably gonna’ move out to the city as well. And I bet that Hakkai would want to follow in your footsteps after he graduates as well.”

“Ah, graduation. You’re the last to graduate out of all of us.” Mitsuya comments, crossing his arms over his chest, “What do you want to do?”

“Well, the others said they’d come back for my graduation.” Y/N states, “I want one last dinner after that. Before we spend years apart.”

Mitsuya grins softly, nodding his head. “I can organise that for all of us.”

The two of them smile at the thought of where others may end up. It didn’t matter that they would be apart, only that they were happy.

“I’m sorry, Takashi. About… all these years.” She huffs out, dropping her head, “I was fucked up and I messed you up as well. I shouldn’t have relied on you to make me okay.”

That’s when he stands up and walks over to her side. With a gentle pull, he lifts her up to her feet and engulfs her in a tight hug. “No, you haven’t messed me up. And I’ll always be there for you, no matter what happens.” He states, smiling into her shoulder, “And no matter how you want me. I’ll always be your friend.”

She can’t help but let out a sigh, hugging him tightly. “Thank you, Takashi, for everything.” She tells him, pulling away slightly, “I hope all goes well for you.”

“Mhm, and for you as well.” Mitsuya chuckles, rubbing the back of his neck. He takes a step back. “I hope Mikey treats you the best. I think we all know you deserve it.” He checks his phone for a moment. “I’ve told my sisters, and they’re ready to say 'goodbye’ to their friends. I’ll find a school in Chiyoda for them, I’m sure they’ll enjoy hanging around some models for a while.”

She nods her head, placing her hands on her hips. “After I fill in Mikey on everything about Toman, we’ll send the Nagoya Division down to help you guys. Y'know, to make sure you don’t get into trouble and they can scout out some good schools.” She offers, pushing her chair in.

But Mitsuya shakes his hand with a polite smile. “Oh, that’s alright. I think from now on, I’d rather not be associated with any gang-related business.” He requests, making Y/N blink at him, “I’m leaving it all behind.”

Y/N doesn’t hesitate to nod her head. “Alright. Well, good luck on your own, Takashi. I know you’ll be fine.” She says. She feels her heart ache slowly.

“But,” He begins, holding out a hand to her. She tilts her head. “I would like to have possession over your pistol.”

It’s on the table. It’s been sitting there the whole entire time. She didn’t acknowledge it, or more like she didn’t want to. It’s a murder weapon. “You want my gun?” She hums out, furrowed brows.

Mitsuya nods his head. “Yes. I don’t feel comfortable with you keeping that.” He states confidently, “I’m sorry, I know it was a birthday gift, but I… I know you’re leaving this behind as well and you’re leaving Toman. So I don’t see the point in keeping it.” He keeps his eyes on the weapon. “I’m sure the others would agree, you don’t need this anymore. You… You can relax now.”

She clenches her jaw, but then swallows her fear and lets out a breath. “Okay. You can take it.” She says.

Mitsuya smiles at her. He watches as Y/N places the gun and the holster in his hand. And it’s finished. This was it.

The door opens, and Mikey walks through with two glasses of non-alcoholic drinks. He didn’t expect Mitsuya to be there with Y/N, as shown with his raised brows. He stops with the door closed behind him. “Oh… Sorry, I didn’t know—”

“No, it’s fine.” Mitsuya responds, grabbing the wind glass and walking up to the entrance. He pats Mikey’s shoulder. He eyes him carefully. “Please. Be careful.”

He stares back at Mitsuya as he walks into the house. Mikey turns to Y/N, who sits back down in her chair. She looks calm, sad. Hands on her lap as she plays with her thumbs. Mikey takes a deep breath, and steps towards her. He leans down on one knee, and holds her hands in his.

“Hey. Y/N.” He hums out quietly, the wind blowing in their ears a little, “It’s okay.”

“I know.” She replies, running fingers over her face. She looks to their hands. “ I think after high school, I’m going to change. For real. I don’t want to be this way forever.”

Mikey nods his head at that. “I understand. I’ll help you change, since you really want to.” He states, brushing a thumb over her knuckles, “You’ll have someone by your side during the process.”

She glances at him with a sad expression, for a second, and huffs out, “Everybody is leaving.”

“Well, not everyone.” He says, tilting his head, “I’m staying. For real. And we can figure out what we want to do later.”

Y/N, at this point, has accepted that everyone would leave for their own futures. After years of trying to keep everyone together and safe, she’s realised that maybe that wasn’t the right thing to do. They needed to grow apart in order to grow up. Not everyone works when they’re in a group, no matter how much they might think they should be. It’s better apart.

She nods her head, squeezing his hand. She brings it up to her lips, and presses a kiss to his knuckles. “There is only you, right?” She mumbles out quietly, looking at Mikey.

He’s turned pink, the light dusting only calling back the memories of how lovely Y/N had always been to him. He retorts, “No. There is only us.”

A kiss to her cheek as he stands up and pulls her to her feet. With strong fingers wrapped around hers, Mikey walked back into the house for the final speech, and the final goodbye’s.

Graduation would come soon for Hakkai, Chifuyu, Hina, Takemichi and Emma. Mitsuya and his sisters would have to board a plane. The Kawata Twins already had plans to open their shop. Sanzu is probably going to go wherever Mikey and Y/N asked of him. And the rest of Toman? Mikey would handle himself.

But all they need to do now, is to say farewell to their friends.

Five Years Later …

“Manager! There’s a phone call for you!”

She looks up from her notepad of incoming deliveries, to see one of her employees pointing to the restaurant phone in her hand. After finalising her count, she moves towards the worker and thanks him, taking the phone and holding it to her ear.

“Hello?” She speaks, “This is the manager speaking.”

“I would like to make a complaint.” Someone on the other side states, a voice turning serious. She blinked at the tone, looking at the worker who had handed her the phone. He only smiles. “I ordered a delivery from your restaurant and the driver has just left.”

She questions, moving to a quieter area of the restaurant in the back, “Was the delivery late? Or was something missing within the package?”

The other person sighs out, “No, everything was included and it arrived in an orderly fashion. I have a complaint about the driver themselves.”

She stops, now seeing the said delivery driver walk into the restaurant with a kind smile and waving. “Is that so?” She hums out.

“Yes.”

“And what is that complaint?”

“The driver wasn’t you.”

“…” She closes her eyes, sighing out slowly, “Mikey. What are you doing?”

“I just miss you, Y/N.” He chuckles back, voice now returning to how it usually sounded, “How much longer until you’re finished with your shift?”

She checks her watch and sighs out, “We should close in about an hour, but it’s a slow night. I’ll probably send everyone home in 30 minutes.” She sees some workers, who stopped to listen as soon as they heard the manager speak the name of her partner, pump their fists in the air with such happiness. “Do you need something at the office?”

The office being that building where Mikey held his meetings for his organisation, but it’s not like Y/N could explain that over the phone.

“Only you.” He replies.

“Hanging up now.” She says, shaking her head with a small smile, “I’ll be home by 9 tonight, okay? I’ll cook something for dinner before I leave.”

“Mmm, alright. Don’t take too long, I miss you.” He says sincerely.

Y/N faces the floor, her cheeks warming at that. “I miss you too. I have to go now, see you later.” She hums, pulling the phone from her ear.

“Bye bye!” He calls from the phone before she hangs up.

As Y/N turns around, she sees those same workers smiling at her. “What is it?” She questions.

“Was that Mr Sano, Manager?” One of them inquire, making a kissy face at her as she rolls her eyes, “What did he say? Is he proposing to you over the phone?”

She scoffs back, putting the phone back on the receiver, “Are you joking? Get back to work, you idiots.” She watches them scramble back to their stations as she puts the deliveries back in place. She can’t help but grin that little bit.

She’s better. She’s happier.

But there’s that part of her that thinks 'am I allowed to be happy when my friends aren’t around?’.

She might visit the Twins, Chifuyu, Inui and such with Mikey, but that was on occasions. For example, the last time they all met together was for Pah’s wedding, which was a couple months ago. For Y/N now, it was only her and Mikey in this part of Japan. The others were spread across the country. Growing apart. Growing up.

Even Mitsuya, who told her that he just wanted her to be okay, and that it would be fine if she didn’t love him the way he loved her. He was off in the world, making a name for himself in the fashion industry with both of his sisters becoming bright young women. The two did call each other to do check ups, but it’s been a while since Y/N’s seen him.

But they know that they’ll be fine.

Hours passed and the restaurant was closed, Y/N wiping the counter down before sighing out, taking off her apron and grabbing her belongings. She was happy to be going home. She was happy to look forward to going home. To have someone to go home to.

As she opened the door, her phone dinged and the screen lit up.

She rolls her eyes, locking the restaurant door and walking towards the back of the building, where the metal stairs were. Mikey was like this, he’d spontaneously ask her to do something fun, especially when he knew she was having a bad day. It made her feel better.

Her bike is parked at the front, the tiger on the shining metal looking back at her. A quick look to the bike and she sees that Valhalla jacket, and another sight of long black hair beside. They never go away, truly. And at this point, she is thankful.

Climbing up the stairs in the winter was dangerous. But she had her coat wrapped tightly around her, the air only flowing slightly against her cheeks. When she reached the top, her eyes set on… Mikey struggling to keep a couple of candles lit.

“Shit, shit, shit.” He mumbles to himself, another fire going out.

“What are you doing, Mikey?” She questions, stepping onto the roof with a tilted head. He glances to her with wide eyes and matches in hand.

He stands up straight, walking in between the picnic basket and flowers and pillows, and towards her. “I, uh, you worked really hard this week and I thought that I could bring dinner to you.” Mikey says, clapping his hands together, “It was supposed to be well-lit, but the candles blew out just as you were walking up here. Sorry…”

Y/N smiles, pulling off her bag and walking closer to him. “That’s very sweet of you, Manjiro.” She hums, dropping her bag beside the picnic basket. Mikey blinks at her as she holds his hands in hers. “Thank you, but it’s not really that dark out because of the street lights. It’s romantic though.”

“I don’t know how to be romantic.” He states, shrugging his shoulders.

“I know.” She replies, leaning towards him and pressing a kiss to his cheek. He only stares and pulls her back with a smile, sitting the two of them down on the picnic blanket. “It’s romantic enough.” Y/N picks up the wine glass, that she knows is from that set of glasses that Mikey keeps in his office for special occasions. “What’s so special about today?”

Mikey looks upset at that. So he pops open the wine bottle and takes her glass, pouring carefully. “You mean you don’t remember?” He hums out, passing it back to her, “It’s our anniversary.”

“What?” She gasps, pulling out her phone and checking the date, “That can’t be! It’s not even close to December!”

He smiles once again, sipping his own glass of wine and tilting his head. “I don’t mean the anniversary for, uh, after you left Toman. I mean from before I got out of town. It would be ten years from today.” He claims, opening the picnic basket and handing her a bowl of strawberries. She takes it carefully. “I know technically, it isn’t an anniversary because I hurt you, and left. But I’ve been celebrating it every year since, just secretly.”

Y/N puts the bowl down. “Really? Why… didn’t you tell me?” A sad smiles dawns her lips.

“It’s kind of been my own thing, you know?” He chuckles, looking over the roof of the restaurant and to the distant cars passing them by, “I started giving you gifts the year we got back together, after we moved out of our home town four years ago. I leave send out flowers to every place you visit and tell them to hand it to you. And I come home early to try and cook this three course dinner. I’ve… only been successful on that last part like twice though.”

She lets out a short laugh at that, squeezing his hand tightly. “It’s okay. I still love it all.” She tells him, head tilting to the side, “I wish I knew. I would’ve celebrated with you.”

Mikey only shakes his head. “I’m just glad you’re still here with me.”

The night goes on, and the food is eaten. Mikey and Y/N are there for hours, way passed what they really should be there for. The moon in high in the sky at 11:30, and Y/N is wrapped in a blanket that Mikey brought along. He had refused the use of it so that she could have it all. However, she has her hand out the side to hold his and keep him warm.

That’s when Mikey sits up straight.

“I want to marry you.”

She freezes up in her spot.

Y/N glances towards Mikey, who is already facing her. He looks serious. So she sits on her knees as he is, holding the blanket around her shoulders. “What did you say?” She mutters, “You… You want to marry me?”

“Yes. Without a doubt.” Mikey says confidently, nodding his head. “I’ve been in love with you for forever. And I want nothing more than to stay with only you.”

At this point, she knows that she can’t ignore the beating of her heart when Mikey says something like that. He’s done it before, as jokes most of the time. When they met up at Pah’s wedding with the others, and he said he’d take the thunder from the groom by proposing to his girlfriend right then and there. Takemichi advised against it. Another time being right after they found a house and moved in together. Mikey said they might as well have been married already, and Y/N agreed. The two laughed it off.

But Mikey was serious here, wasn’t he?

He didn’t look like it was a joke. So maybe it really wasn’t.

“I don’t think I could ever imagine marrying someone who wasn’t you.” Mikey states, no wavering in his tone or shifting hands. He had all his attention on Y/N, not to make a mistake. “I would never want to anyway.”

“Manjiro, you can’t… say that—” She begins, feeling her eyes burn and ache.

“Is it because I’m not down on one knee?” He questions, already shifting in his spot. Y/N watches as he nearly falls to the side trying to get on one knee. He looks ridiculous, all dressed up in this messy office get-up. His tie is loose and his suit jacket hangs off the picnic basket. Not to mention his shoes being untied for God knows how long. Y/N couldn’t believe what she was seeing. “How about now? Do you accept my proposal?”

“Manjiro!” She laughs out, covering her face as small tears form on her eyes. Even if he did look so stupid right now, it was tooth-achingly sweet. She had to admit that much. “You’re such an idiot… You can’t seriously be proposing to me without—”

Her hand leaves her face as she lays her eyes on Mikey. He smiles gently, holding up the winding golden band with that shiny diamond in the centre of it all. He holds it towards her.

“Hanemiya Y/N.” He says.

And that’s when the tears begin to pour.

A small noise leaves Y/N and she blinks the tears away. She doesn’t want to close her eyes or cover them. If she takes her gaze off of Mikey, he might disappear.

“Man, I didn’t even get to continue.” He huffs, his own face burning up at the moment.

Y/N waves her hand at that, using her other to wipe her cheeks. “Ah, I’m sorry, I’m sorry, go on. I’m okay, I’m listening.” She claims.

Mikey then regains his posture, clearing his throat. “Hanemiya Y/N, I love you more than the amount of times the sun has risen.” He begins, “And I always wake up and wonder how I can make it up to you, and show you that you’re my everything.”

The ring deflects the streetlights as he turns in in his fingers. Y/N can only see Mikey.

“I don’t want to marry you because I feel guilty, no.” He shakes his head at the idiotic thought. “I want to marry you so that I can be with you endlessly, and love you unconditionally.”

She can’t wipe away all the tears dripping down her cheeks.

“Y/N. Will you marry me?”

He doesn’t get a response. Instead, she leaps forward, wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him close. The blanket flows off her shoulders and back onto the picnic basket. Y/N buries her head into his shoulders and can’t help but hold tightly.

Mikey sits up properly, patting her back and kissing her cheek. “Hey, it’s okay, you don’t need to answer me now. The offer will always stand.” He informs her.

“Manjiro.” She sighs out, pulling away slightly. He closes his eyes for a second and opens them again, bringing a hand up to wipe Y/N’s tears from her cheeks. “I will marry you.”

He takes a deep breath in, and then lets out a short laugh. “That’s… Oh God—That’s great news.” He begins, kissing her forehead a few times, “I’m… I’m so glad. Thank you. That’s amazing, I—”

He stops, allowing himself to breath in and the tears flow out. They race down his skin and onto his lap, unable to contain himself. Y/N doesn’t say anything, only grinning and wiping away his tears. She kisses each trail and runs fingers through his hair.

“I love you too, Manjiro.” She responds, “More than you’ll ever know.”

She holds his shoulder before leaning forward, placing her lips over his gently and moving closer to him. Her eyes are squeezed shut as Mikey’s hands hold her back and bring her flush against his chest, reciprocating the kiss. He has this big smile on his face as he kisses her a few more times, before leaning away to admire his now fiancé.

He slips the ring onto her finger.

The two pack up, deciding that it was time to head home. It was so late already. As they make their way to their bikes, Y/N notices something by their rides.

“Such a cute couple, wouldn’t you say?”

“Duh.”

“Why can’t you be more excited for them?”

“It was bound to happen, what’s so exciting about something so expected?”

“Are you saying it was boring?”

“Eh… He could’ve done better at proposing.”

“Draken!”

Emma playfully punches her boyfriend’s arm before looking back to Y/N. She watches them in awe, wiping her eyes to see if it was really happening. The two were there, in front of her restaurant. Whilst not really… there, they were present.

She holds this beautiful smile. Emma’s always been so beautiful. She waves a hand at her best friend, other held tightly in Draken’s grasp. “You look gorgeous! And that ring, oh my God!” She quietly gasps out to her.

Draken smiles proudly. “Good job. I knew the two of you could do it.” He mentions.

Y/N plays with the ring on her finger, hopping onto her bike. She smiles at what they say.

“You be good, alright?” Emma calls, hugging Draken closer to her, “I want to hear all about it when you see me again!”

“And keep Mikey in line for me, okay?” Draken says, wrapping an arm around his girlfriend’s shoulders, “I can always count on you.”

Y/N nods her head, taking out her motorcycle keys. That grin plays on her lips.

Emma watches her with such pride and affection.

“We love you, Y/N.” She says.

Y/N starts her bike, glancing to the store again. They’re gone. But they’re not really. No one is ever really gone.

“Are you ready to head home now, Sweetheart?”

Mikey rests a hand over hers, watching as she plays with that specific scarf around her neck. This happens sometimes. She zones out when thinking about them. But he’s always there to knock her back into reality.

Y/N nods her head.

“Yeah…” She hums, “I’m ready to go home, Manjiro.”

Yandere!Mikey x Draken’s younger sister

Wc: 838

“ Mikey… you and I can’t be together. Draken will. . he doesn’t want us together.”

Rejection. Something Manjiro Sano hated. Especially when it’s something that he really wants. He wished that you weren’t Draken’s sister, he wished that you had no relation to his best friend. Why did it have to be you, huh? Why couldn’t he have you?

“Ken-chin, I promise I won’t hurt her. Just let me-”

Draken’s raised hand stops fifteen-year-old Mikey from continuing his sentence. The slight gesture made the shorter boy pull back in anticipation awaiting the older brother’s blessing or a curse.

“ I can’t let you go near her anymore. I’m sorry.”

Mikey felt his entire world shattered into pieces with those few words, eyebrows creased, and hands. Mikey walked away, ignoring the desperate pleas of his best friend. He knew that he had to have you, one way or another.

“ Jiro, wake up.”

Raven-colored eyes fluttered open at the sound of your honey-like voice. Pulling himself up to scan his room, only to see that he was hallucinating once again. Rubbing the exhaustion out of his eyes, Mikey grabbed the photograph with the two of you, off the top of his drawers. Slowly brushing his fingertips across your smile before laying a kiss onto the picture and setting it aside once again.

10 years later

The same picture that had been on his drawer from the festival that it was taken had now been placed on his office table. Never forgetting to give the picture a kiss before heading out to work. The same calloused fingers that would brush the hair out of your face many years ago, were now blistered and bruised after landing blow after blow on a man who thought it was okay to hit on you.

“Stupid fucker. Think it’s okay to hurt my Y/n?!”

With every blow landed, another bone broke, another cry rang out but the same tar-filled eyes stayed vivid and insane. All the other Bonten members watched as their boss single-handedly break almost every part of the man’s body, to say that they were somewhat scared of the way Mikey acted but said nothing.

Wiping his hands clean of the blood, Mikey made his way over to his office, not sparing a second glance at the mess behind him. Dropping himself in his office chair, picking up the picture once again, lightly caressing the picture as he laid his head on the table.

‘Miss you, Y/n. Need you.’

The next few days at Bonten were filled with serious planning and determination to bring Y/n back to Mikey. Everyone was tasked with either the how, when, or where of obtaining you. Mikey watched from his office above, the people carrying on with their daily lives, unaware of who was above them.

“Sir, we have made a schedule about how Y/n’s week will go.”

Pushing himself up from the rails, he made his way over to Kakucho, skimming over the paper, Mikey nodded and told him to send it over to everyone else before they made the move.

**

“Have a nice day.”

Your mellow tone called out to the last customers that were leaving. Grabbing the cloth, walking over to the tables, wiping the excessive food and dirt that had been left on the tables after customers had left. Sweeping the floors as the sun began to go down, ignoring the bustling that happened in the streets.

Hearing the bell ring, you unconsciously answered whoever was there without looking up.

“ I am sorry but we are closed.”

“ The sign says that you are still open. I hope that I wasn’t interrupting anything, Y/n.”

The sweeping stopped abruptly, turning to the harsh voice, You scanned the men that were now in her shop. Stricken by the man that just called your name, you gently placed the wooden broom against the counter top before taking small, slow steps towards the men. Not taking your eyes off of them, you walked towards the man in the middle. A small smile etched onto his face.

“Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my shop?”

Rejected yet again. Did Draken instill in you to hate him so much that you forgot?

His smile faltered, now that you spoke. Once again, his pain turned into anger. Grabbing your wrists, pulling you flush against his chest. Pulling your head closer to him while stroking your hair, kissing your hair tenderly. A bit shaken by the sudden gesture, you tried to pull away but the iron hold that he had on you led to much expected failure.

“Draken may have kept you away from me but I always find a way to get what I want.”

Your eyes widen at the sound of your brother’s name, only to realize the one she was being held by. Whispering his name in fear, she held onto him, tightly, tears fleshing from her eyes.

“ I told you Y/n. I’ll have you whether you want me or not.”

Mikey: So that’s my plan.

Y/n: Are you alright with constructive criticism? I don’t want to sound mean.

Mikey: No, go ahead, I want to hear it.

Y/n: It fucking sucks.

Mikey: That’s not constructive criticism.

imagine lying and telling mikeyout of nowhere that he has something on his lips while he’s eating dorayaki just so you can lean in really close and stare at his lips. very slowing “wiping” the paste off his lips with your thumb while he’s just frozen and not moving an inch. you don’t take your eyes off his lips for a second. mikey just swallows nervously while watching your every move but you only lean away and go back to what you were doing, leaving the poor guy to short-circuit. you know the effect you have on him by doing the simplest things and you make full use of it.

it’s pouring rain outside. the atmosphere feels chill and you’re wearing the fluffiest socks you own as you sip on hot cocoa from your favorite cup. your legs hang as you sit on the marbled kitchen countertop. kakucho is making a cup of coffee for him.

the silence that occupies the space between you two feels comfortable and there’s a soft smile on both your faces. “how’s the drink?” he asks, finally turning his attention your way. “it’s good!” you smile wide. and he returns the grin with a hum. your eyes are closed as he walks closer to you, your mind wondering only one thing.

it’s been stuck in your head since you saw that tiktok trend the other day and as your eyes settle on your boyfriend’s figure pouring his coffee onto a cup, you think this might be the perfect time. “kaku,” you call him. “how would you kiss me on the day of our wedding?”

he looks surprised for a moment, but you’re able to see the blush that dusts this pretty face. “our wedding?”

“you don’t wanna marry me?” you know his question is based on pure confusion and surprise but you still pout. so adorable, kakucho thinks as he cups the sides of your face with his large hands. “of course i do,” he chuckles and you can feel the love that pours out of his gaze. it showers on you so gently that you’re in awe.

“then kiss me!” your smile is so wide that for a moment kakucho wishes to treasure it forever. you get off the countertop to stand on your feet. “i’m the bride and you’re the groom!” you’re really unable to hide your little excitement when kakucho holds your waist with gentle hands.

“whatever you want, baby.” his words leave you gasping. your eyes widen for a moment when his lips clash so softly on yours. your hands immediately wrap around his neck, pulling him closer to you. his kisses remind you of the rain that’s pouring outside your windows. it’s soft, tender, and sublime.

after kakucho pulls away with a sweet smile, his thumbs draw soothing circles on your waist and you can feel your heart beating fast, so fast that you think you might be falling in love with him all over again.

“i wish to live with you forever,” he whispers against your lips before he’s leaning closer for another taste of your lips.

your eyes trail from your book to your boyfriend. ran just got out of the shower and he walks over to you with his purple locks still wet. he’s only wearing a big loose shirt and grey shorts. he’s so cute, you think. you’re staring at him and you only hopes that he doesn’t notice the wide lovesick smile on your face, but he does.

it makes him smile and he throws the slightly wet towel on your face. “hey!” you shout, though it is lighthearted. “you’re staring again, baby.” ran’s chuckles make your cheeks heat up, and you sit upright on the bed.

you watch as he goes to check his phone but your eyes refuse to leave him, especially his plump pink lips that look even more kissable with him so close to you. it’s a pull, and you swear ran haitani attracts you like a bee to a flower.

“ran,” you call for him as you remember something, it’s a question that has left you giggling like a schoolgirl with a crush before. and tonight, you decide to ask, “can you kiss me like on the day of our wedding?”

his eyes widen, pupils dilating and he swears, you have him all wrapped around your pretty fingers. “kiss you?” he gasps as his hands cup your face gently, his thumb stroking your cheeks. you nod approvingly and ran feels the sweet tug of cupid’s arrow in his heart.

“but there’s a little problem,” he smiles. “i won’t be able to stop myself once i start kissing you.” as your eyes meet his lavender orbs, you chuckle lightly.

“i want you to kiss me with all, every bit of love you have for me in your heart,” you say with your palm flat against his heart. you can feel his heart beating rapidly, so unevenly yet in sync with yours. he leans closer, eyes gradually closing as he feels the softness of your lips on his.

his kiss reminds you of spring when every flower blooms at the soft beaming of the sun. your heart melts when he pulls away with a smile. “i love you so much,” his voice comes low, not above a whisper and you hold onto him a little longer.

“kiss me again.”

you look at yourself through the mirror. you’re dressed in white, the beautiful gown resembling the wedding gown of your dreams with beautiful embellishments of white pearls and satin ribbons. it hugs your body to adorn your most prominent features. you smile, so wrapped in love.

you hear the curtains of the trail room inside your boyfriend’s boutique sliding. mitsuya walks over to you with an astonished face. “how’s does the dress feel?” he asks finally as he turns to meet your gaze. “it’s amazing. i feel comfortable in this.”

mitsuya stares at you with so much love and you wonder if he ever has plans to marry you someday. but as if your thoughts were answered, he wraps his arms around your waist, pulling you a little closer but still keeping a little distance to not ruin the gown.

“i’m going to marry you someday. i made this dress for you actually.” his words leave you gasping and you wonder how lucky you are to have someone like him in your life. “takashi,” you gasp as little beads of tears pool in the corners of your eyes.

“hey,” he smiles as he wipes away your tears that spill of happiness and gratitude. “you look stunning.”

“thank you.” you don’t realize the time moving as your hands trail from his chest to his shoulders, and finally wrap around his neck. “can you kiss me like you’d do on our wedding day?” you beam.

he chuckles, eyes glinting in adoration. “yeah.” his words sink as his lips connect with yours. it feels like heaven on earth and it’s just you both. his kisses remind you of eternity and lavender fields. so peaceful and it’s a love that’s promised forever.

there’s no space for you to utter i love yous as he grabs your face and kisses you again and again — till there’s nothing but his sweet taste on your lips.

the blanket of stars fills the night sky as you walk hand in hand with your boyfriend. hanma’s large hands grip yours tightly and you turn to gaze at him with a sweet smile on your face. “why did you drag me outside?” you ask as you remember seeing him outside your windows just a few minutes ago.

it made you close the door and go on a night stroll around the neighborhood with him. “i just wanted to see you,” his voice is low, but the smile on his face stays. “i missed you too.” it feels so peaceful and you feel the butterflies trying to fly out of your stomach.

no matter how many times you’ve talked to him, no matter how many years its been since you two started dating, he still manages to make you nervous. but you don’t realise the bashful pink hues that spread across hanma’s face every time he sees you smile.

your feet takes you to a small park. it’s empty with only the crescent waning moon blessing you with its glow. “shuji! c’mere!” you giggle as you drag him to the middle of the park. “what are you—” he gasps as you step closer to him, so close that he feels the warmth that emits from your body.

“kiss me underneath the moonlight… just like you’d do on the day of our wedding,” you whisper as if it’s a sacred secret shared only among lovers. “yeah? right now?” he smiles, his hands caressing your face as his thumb strokes your cheekbones. “yeah.”

love feels young and you feel the stars cooing in awe as his lips sink on yours. your hands rest on his sturdy shoulders and you feel his muscles flexing as he pulls you closer to his body. hanma truly believes that roses are jealous of your lips — its rosy hues and softness that can never be compared to a flower petal makes him crazy.

he pulls away after a short while with a fond smile. you close your eyes feeling his thumb stroking your lower lip softly. so beautiful, he thinks. and as his eyes meet yours again, you feel breathless and so in love. “i don’t think i did it right,” he leans in once more. “let’s kiss again.”

there’s a soft summer breeze that brushes your hair as you sit next to mikey on the balcony of your house. it’s filled with flowery plants that you just finished watering. the view in front of you is much more peaceful, which is filled with greenery, and beautiful butterflies that flutter their wings.

the birds coo a melodic song as they fly away from one branch to another and it all has mikey mesmerized. you’re awestruck at the adorning smile that bleeds on his lips. you sigh content as you lay your head on his shoulder.

he hums as you gaze at him and mikey swears, you’ve taken all the breath around him as his eyes are fixed on your smile. at that moment, you look like an ethereal angel with a divine smile. “your smile is beautiful,” he whispers and it only makes you smile wider.

the eye contact you both share is intense as you lose yourself in the maze that is his eyes. “manjiro,” your voice comes low as your eyes avert from his eyes to his lips that long for warmth. “could you kiss me like you would on our wedding day?”

you lean into his touch as he brushes a hair strand behind your ears lovingly. “you want to marry me?” he chuckles, but he feels the erratic beating of his heart, losing all its rhythm and he wonders how you still manage to make him flustered.

“of course i do. you’re everything i’ve ever hoped for.” you think it’s a simple answer, yet mikey finds him thanking all the gods and the universe for an angel that is you. “you don’t realize what you do to me, do you?” you hum at his words.

as you close your eyes, you feel the warmth of his lips on yours, and so tenderly it moves in sync with yours. mikey lets his emotions spill into the kiss and it always makes your heart fill with his love. “i love you, manjiro,” you whisper as he pulls away only to place a sweet kiss on your forehead.

“i love you too, and i always will.”

If someone had asked Kakucho what the most impactful event in his life had been, he might’ve once responded with the day he met Izana Kurokawa, the man who had been his friend, master, and brother all at the same time. Now a man grown, Kakucho recognized it hadn’t been meeting Izana but rather losing him, Tenjiku, and her, on that frigid February afternoon.

Where his relationship with Izana had just made sense, his relationship with Kisaki’s sister never did. From the moment Tetta Kisaki weaseled his way into Izana’s life, Kakucho hated him. He hated everything about the bespeckled teen who held himself up like some bigshot gang leader. Well, everything except the girl who stubbornly trailed after him.

She called herself Kisaki’s sister even after he bit out the word ‘half’ to amend the title. She was vivacious, kind, caring, and everything Kisaki and Tenjiku weren’t. She didn’t hold back her laughter, didn’t blink away tears; all of her emotions shone on her face–raw and unfiltered.

At first, Kakucho chalked her up as a silly spoiled girl rebelling against her parents by chasing after her gang-member half-brother. It made the most sense given her age and upbringing and not just because Kisaki said so. But as the days went on and Kisaki’s sister continued hanging around Tenjiku, Kakucho accepted the fact that her presence went beyond teenage rebellion to something deeper and more intimate. A reason that mirrored his devotion to Izana– love for her brother.

Kakucho didn’t realize cared for Kisaki’s sister until he found himself gravitating toward her during meetings, escorting her home after Kisaki berated her, and thinking of different ways to clumsily comfort her. He didn’t realize he liked her until he stuffed her cold hands in his pockets, shielded her eyes and ears from Tenjiku’s violence, and held her close after confessing his fears regarding Izana, Kisaki, and the impending war against the Tokyo Manji gang.

And by the time Kakucho realized he loved Y/N, it was toward the end of Kisaki’s memorial service and he had been dragged outside to a dark alley by a seething Hanma.

Part 24 of “My Insufferable Idiot” Series

MASTERLIST|previousCURRENTnext

Your best friend is singing along to the current song playing on the speakers, attention on the road. They’re so giddy you think they’re even more excited for you than you are that you’re about to meet some of your favorite celebrities. You are excited; you are, you’ve been a fan of Haji since he debuted, and you were there when Nari and Sylvie took him in as one of their own. Yet why was your chest filled with anxiety instead of excitement? Sure, you knew some of it was because you were about to meet actual celebrities, but the rest of it was not. You’re biting your bottom lip nervously, fingers tapping on your knee, so it’s no surprise your best friend notices how quiet you are.

“YN? What’s wrong?”

You laugh nervously, “Okay, so… I can’t stop thinking about what Baji told me.”

“What part?” They glance at you, keeping their eyes ahead but giving you enough attention, so you know they’re listening.

“The thing about the private investigator. I’m not gonna lie; it left me uneasy. What if it’s true?”

“That’s a pretty big accusation, too,” Bestie announces, making you sigh. “If it was something that serious, why did he wait until now to tell you?”

“Yeah… I know…but-”

“But what?”

“There was that one time a bit ago when I felt I was being watched… It was the day Shin had my bike, and you stayed after class, so I called Ran to pick me up. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but now???” You groan, fighting the urge to rub your face in frustration due to the makeup you have on, “But what if he just spat that out to try to get me to forgive him? And the fact that he says it’s all because of my mother, who I’ve never even met myself. How am I supposed to believe that?”

“Shit, man, I don’t know….”

“I’m lost. I don’t know what to do bestie….” You look down at your hands in distraught.

You feel a hand rest on your shoulder to calm you down, “Hey… Let’s forget about that for now, yeah? Enjoy your time with Haji and the girls for now. We’ll worry about this whole thing after, okay?” They move their hand back to the steering wheel, “Maybe you should talk to your dad. If what Baji said is true, your dad can confirm if it is your mother or not, y’know?”

You’re hesitant about bringing in your dad, especially his new girlfriend, whom you would hate to be involved in family drama already, but your best friend is right. Your dad is the only one who can confirm it or not. “You’re right… I’ll bring it up to him on Monday when he helps me move Hoshi out of the Haitani’s apartment.”

Bestie hums in acknowledgment before throwing you a smile, “Good. Now, enjoy your time today, ‘kay?”

“Yeah yeah,” You pout before your lips turn into a smirk, “Good luck with Rin. I hope he begs on his knees.”

Bestie snorts, “Please. That would be a sight to see.”

Meeting Hajime, Nari, and Sylvie face to face went better than you thought it would. When you arrived at the restaurant Haji told you he had a reservation; you didn’t expect it to be a fancy beachside restaurant with outside seating, yachts, and fancy cars. Immediately you felt underdressed, but your bestie had said you looked great, so you could only hope. You had arrived early, your nerves not wanting you to be late nor wanting your bestie to be late to their meetup with Rin, but apparently, you weren’t the only one.

When the host walks up to you for your name, they give you a pearly smile before leading you to the second floor of the building. When she opens the door for you, your eyes widen at the glass wall facing the ocean, a beautiful view of the people sitting outside or enjoying the beach. You hadn’t even noticed the three people sitting at the table in the middle of the private room. Thanks to that though, you didn’t faint when the three people walked up to greet you with grins on their gorgeous faces. You had been too stunned by the view for reality to kick in. It kicked in when you finally sat down with Haji next to you, and you swore your head was about to explode like they do in cartoons with how uncharismatically shy you got.

The food was delicious, and despite saying you didn’t want dessert, the girls insisted. Still, instead of eating something from the restaurant, they ordered ice cream nearby, who did delivery. While you all waited for your ice cream, the four of you were relaxing on the balcony connected to your private room. Nari sits on the railing while Sylvie sits on the chair next to you. Haji leaned on the railing with his elbows, looking down at the beach.

“So YN~” Nari sings your name, and you look at her curiously.

“Hm?”

A sly grin starts forming on her face, and the look in her eyes is one you know all too well due to your devious friends, “Enjoying the double date so far?”

Your eyebrows go from furrowed to raised as your eyes widen, your cheeks ablaze, “H-Huh?!”

“Nari-!” Haji calls out, and his cheeks dust with red as he glares at his friend, Sylvie, who snickers beside you.

“I take it he didn’t tell you today was supposed to be a double date?” The blonde shakes her head playfully, “Who knew you were such a coward, Buttercup.”

Haji facepalms, mumbling something under his breath as he turns to face the three of you, leaning back on the railing, “I didn’t coward out. It just didn’t feel right.”

“W-Wait, wait,” You interject, swallowing nervously as you look between the three friends. “This was supposed to be a double d-date?”

Haji avoids your eyes before nodding, looking back at you. “It was… but after what we talked over the phone a couple of days ago, I didn’t want to overwhelm you. Thought it was best to just… meet as friends first.”

Oh, now you feel horrible. You practically vented that night to Haji about how you felt betrayed not only by your friends but also by your ex and another possible other love interest. “Oh my god—” Bestie would kill you when you told them about this. You blocked yourself from a date with theIwaizumi Hajime because… wait. Because he felt sorry for you?

Haji laughs, shaking his head, “YN, it’s fine. You have a lot on your plate, and I didn’t want to add to it. It doesn’t change that I still want us to be friends.” Your look of doubt makes him roll his eyes. “I’m serious. I think… I think you need to settle whatever you have going on with your friends before I even think about properly asking you out sometime– that is, if you don’t makeup with your ex or that other guy you were telling me about.”

Your face breaks out into another blush, and the girls coo at your expression.

“Oh~ YN has some tea in her life, doesn’t she?” Nari teases, but when Haji shakes his head, she frowns, “…Not all good, huh?”

You look down at your hands, unsure what to say, “It’s complicated….”

“Well, just remember what I said, sweetheart,” Haji says, making the three of you look at him, “You have a right to be upset, and no one can tell you otherwise. How you deal with your feelings right now is all up to you. If ignoring your friends right now makes you feel better, cool. You’re not doing it out of spite; you’re doing it because you’re hurt. They hurt you, whether they meant to or not.”

You look down at your hands, eyes tearing up yet again. “I k-know but… they’re my friends… t-they’re all I have… I know I’m going to end up forgiving them, but I just-”

“Well, I don’t know the full story, but,” Sylvie scoots her seat closer to you, wrapping an arm around you and making you rest your head on their shoulder, “Haji’s right. Sure, your friends hurt you, and you’re ignoring them because of it, but you’re valid. If you’re such good friends, they’ll understand you just need time right now.” She smiles, “You think us three never fight?”

“W-Well…”

Nari laughs, nudging her shoulder with Haji’s, “We’re not always the indestructible Powerpuffs, you know? We get into arguments and shit just like everyone else. It all just depends on how you all work it out. Right guys?”

“Right!”

“So just take some time away from them. Your best friend already told them you need some time, right? So hopefully, they’ll understand and won’t pressure you,” Haji chimes in, giving you a warm smile. It’s so contrasting against his rough and edgy exterior, but boy, it makes your heart soar. You can’t help but to look away shyly.

“Hey, YN, hey,” Nari says as she pokes your forehead, making your eyebrows furrow, “Next time we hang out, invite your best friend too!” She grins, “I wanna meet your partner in crime!”

You can’t help but laugh, nodding, “Alright. I’m sure they’d be ecstatic to meet you guys too.”

─────────

“I hope you know I’m only here because I told YN I would,” Bestie goes right out with the cold hard truth. They’re only standing in this empty park because they promised to try. It’s evident from the heated glare Rindou is receiving.

“I know…” Rindou gulps, rubbing the back of his neck. He also knows he won’t be able to hide what he’s hiding behind his back for too much longer either. So he takes a deep breath and reveals the gift with his arm extended to bestie, cheekbones stained red. His face is turned to the side, jaw clenching and unclenching as he contemplates what to say and do, but he knows it’s now or never. “I’m sorry.”

Bestie blinks at him, arms relaxing a bit as they move to rest by their side instead.

“What I did was shitty, and it wasn’t a nice thing to do as a friend, but-” Looking right in front of him, he looks bestie in the eye, “It was an even worse thing to do to someone I was genuinely interested in.”

Bestie has yet to say anything, and the silence is killing him. Is this how people felt when he gave them the silent treatment? His arm is already getting unusually tired from holding up the cute duck plushie, which bestie has yet to acknowledge.

Oh god. This is going bad, isn’t it? Rindou thinks, feeling a bead of sweat on his temple.

Was?” That is all he hears as he feels the plush being taken from his hand. When he looks up, he sees bestie with a sly grin on their face.

Shit- “Am! I am interested in!” He quickly corrects himself, flushing even more as bestie laughs, squishing the red cheeks of the plush before focusing their attention on Rindou. “I really am… sorry. I thought I was doing the right thing, listening to your friends and all.”

“Mhm,” Bestie hums, “You learn from that now?”

“Most definitely.”

Bestie steps closer, a gentle hand on Rin’s forearm, “Gonna be stupid on your own instead of following in other’s footsteps?”

Rindou is quiet at this, a slight pout forming on his lips. Now that was harder to promise as he and Ran and Izana were almost up to no good. “Well…”

Bestie rolls their eyes, closing the distance between them even more, arms resting loosely on Rindou’s shoulders, the plush hanging by their hand. “Well?”

Rin licks his lips nervously, not expecting bestie to have been so forward, but who was he to complain? His hands come up to cup bestie’s face, “Go out with me.” It’s not a question; it’s a demand, making bestie raise a brow.

“Maybe.”

“M-Maybe?”Aw man, Ran wouldn’t let me live if he saw how flustered they’re making me. Bestie doesn’t say anything, only rolling their eyes yet again before pointing to their lips. Oh. The realization in Rin’s eyes makes bestie chuckle at how cute and confused the supposed feared, and stoic Haitani Rindou was being.

Not waiting for another second, Rindou closes the space between them, lips on lips, as one hand moves down to pull bestie closer by the waist. The kiss is messy, teeth clashing and tongues hungry for more. It was clear the two had some unspoken tension that was finally being relieved, somewhat at least. Bestie pulls away first, leaving Rin slightly panting as his hand grips their waist. Like the little devil they are, bestie kisses Rin from his jawline, lips so soft he barely feels them. Then there’s a slight breeze on his ear, making him shiver, a hand on the side of his neck as bestie whispers the following words.

“Now beg.”

Two words that make him know he’s in for a dangerous ride, but it’s a good thing Rindou likes dangerous rides.

─────────

“Uh, are you sure it was okay leaving the two back there?” You ask, looking back at the little boutique shop Nari and Sylvie were currently occupied with.

“Yup,” Haji adjusts the sunglasses resting on his nose, walking with his hands in his pockets, walking on the side of the road just like a true gentleman, “They’ll call me once they realize we left them.” He laughs, the sound making butterflies flutter in your stomach. “Besides,” He grins over at you, “Gives us some alone time now~.”

The simple comment has you hitting his shoulder playfully, only making him laugh, “Oh, shut up….”

He focuses his attention upfront, but you keep looking at him, not understanding how this happened. If your current self told you you would meet a favorite musician, you would say you were stupid and delusional. Here you were, walking side by side as if you had been friends for a while. You asked them if it was okay to walk out and about with no security, to which they said it was fine.

Apparently, they had guards on speed dial if anything did happen, but usually, people left them alone. That wasn’t too shocking, especially with Haji’s not only appearance but experience as well. Since you three had left the restaurant, only a handful of people had stopped them for autographs or pictures. You didn’t fail to hear one fan squeal and take photos from a distance when she spotted Haji, yet didn’t come up to him. You couldn’t blame her. You’re sure you would’ve done the same thing weeks ago.

How you had this model and known musician walking beside you, you’d never understand how, but man… you were going to eat it all up. Haji’s shoulder-length hair was tied in a small bun revealing his undercut and multiple piercings in his ears. Tattoos peeking underneath the collar of his shirt, and phew, the tattoos on his arms were a whole other story. You’re so distracted admiring his appearance that you fail to see Haji’s eyes sharpen into a glare, jaw tight with annoyance.

“YN?” He looks at you with a small smile, “I have to make a call real quick. Mind staying here while I make it?”

You see you’re stopped at a small outdoor cafe with some small shops on both sides of it, “Of course. I’ll be right here then. You have my number, if anything.”

He chuckles, nodding, “Right. I’ll be quick.” Before he walks off, he tucks a stray strand of your hair behind your ear, smirking as he sees your eyes widen and cheeks flushing. He leaves with a wink, walking off as he immediately pulls out his phone to talk.

“Alright then…” You shake your head, deciding to go into one of the shops first and see if anything catches your eye for possible gifts.

─────────

“So,” Rindou hums with an arm around bestie’s waist, “YN’s out with that guy today?”

“Mhm~” Bestie grins, “Haji and the girls.”

“The two model friends?”

“Well, technically, they’re all models, but yes,” Rin rolls his eyes at this, only making bestie laugh, “She hasn’t texted me since I dropped her off, so I can assume she’s enjoying herself.”

“Yeah… Hey, a question for you.”

“What’s up?”

“Is she serious about moving Hoshi out of our place? When I told Ran, it devastated him. It’s like they’re breaking up despite not being together. He sees it as her being done with him.

“Please,” Bestie huffs, “You need to tell him to stop seeing it like that. She needs a break Rin. From all of you until she says otherwise. For all I know, maybe she just needs a week or something, I don’t know. I think it’s fair, isn’t it?”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right… Do you think she’s gonna continue ignoring me too? I need to thank her.”

“For what?”

“Basically told me to stop being an idiot and ask you out,” Rin mumbles, “and beg you for forgiveness….”

“And that you did, my little Rin-Rin~ Got it all on video too~” Bestie laughs despite Rindou’s reddened cheeks, “Now you can’t make fun of your brother cause you got punished with exactly the same thing.”

“Whatever…” He huffs, pulling bestie close to his side, completely unaware of the woman practically stomping up to them.

─────────

“YN!” You turn around to see both Nari and Sylvie jogging up to you, Sylvie pouting as Nari glares at you. Nari being the one who yelled at you from afar, “How could you just leave us like that?!”

You laugh, “Not like you noticed we left anyway.”

“Hey…” Sylvie looks around, “Where’s Haji?”

“Said he had a call to make?” You shrug, setting your shopping bags down so you can put your hair in a messy bun, “It’s been like fifteen minutes though. I hope everything is alright.”

The two look at each other, wondering what call was so important to leave YN alone, but their question is soon answered.

“Haji?” YN answers her ringing phone, brows furrowed, “Is everything alright?”

“YN, I need you to meet me at a location I’m about to send you.”

“H-Huh? I mean, okay, but-”

“Now.” His voice is calm yet deadly serious. He doesn’t even give you the chance to tell him Nari and Sylvie were with you before he hangs up.

“I, uhm,” You pick up your bags off the ground, “He said to meet up with him at, uh-” You pause just to see a location ping on your phone, “Here. He sounded kind of upset… I hope I didn’t do anything wrong….”

“Aww, YN…” Nari wraps an arm around you, giving you a reassuring smile, “Give him more credit, yeah? I’m sure whatever it is, has nothing to do with you.”

“Yeah!” Sylvie assures you as she takes your phone, starting the GPS to the location, which is only a six-minute walk. “Besides, he sounds grumpy on the phone half the time.”

“Yeah… okay,” You nod, swallowing nervously as you hope for the best.

When you get to the location, you’re unsure if you’re supposed to head into one of the stores or if Haji possibly sent you somewhere wrong. Just as Nari takes out her phone to call her friend herself, Haji steps out from a store to the right, practically slamming the door shut behind him.

“Uh, hey,” Nari waves at him, worry filling her face, “Everything alright?”

“Not really,” He takes a deep breath, trying to neutralize his facial expression, but failing as his eyebrow twitches and mouth twitches down into a frown, “YN….”

“Y-Yeah?” Your heart is beating rapidly in your chest as he looks at you.

“Remember when you told me your ex said something about a private investigator?” You nod your head as your blood runs cold. “Well…” He clicks his tongue in annoyance, worry swimming in his eyes. “I’m pretty sure it’s this fucker I saw following us.”

And just like that, your oh-so-great day suddenly took a turn for the worst.

─────────

SLAP!

Rindou’s head snapped to the side, a nice red handprint on his left cheek leaving bestie standing there with their mouth agape, eyes wide. Rindou only stood there, blinking as the reality of what just happened slowly sank in.

“What the hell is your problem?!” Now out of their stupor, Bestie yelled a scowl on their lips, ready to jump this woman themselves.

But Rindou quickly grabbed hold of their wrist, rubbing his cheek with his hand before his eyes trained on the woman in front of him, violet eyes glaring daggers. “You have exactly five minutes to explain what the hell that was for before I call the police.” A lie. The first call would be to his mother, who would no doubt cry to her husband, who would handle it from there. But first, he needed to find out who this woman was.

“How dare you?!” The woman yelled, pointing a manicured finger to Rindou’s face, “And to think you were good for my daughter! And here you are with this… this-” Her face scrunched up in disgust as she looked over at bestie, eyes trailing their form in pure judgment.

Bestie’s eye twitches in annoyance, but before they can say anything, Rindou pulls them behind him, glowering down at the shorter woman, speaking behind grit teeth. “This what? Finish your fucking sentence.”

“This whore!” And Rindou snaps. His calm demeanor was no more.

When bestie sees Rindou’s hand twitch, they reach out, barely holding Rindou back.

“Who even are you, you crazy bitch?!” He growls, taking a step forward only to get pulled back by bestie once more. “You have the fucking audacity to come up to us, slap me, and call my partner a whore?! Do you have any idea who I am?!”

“I don’t need to!” The woman seethes, hands clenched into fists. “Just wait until I reveal to the public how the son of such a prestigious lawyer is nothing but an adulterous piece of shit!”

And that only makes Rindou’s blood boil more. Rindou and his brother were never one to ‘live up’ to their step-father’s name. Hell, even after their mother remarried, they refused to change their last names or even add it with a hyphen. This of course annoyed their stepfather, especially as he was very well known and wanted the family to be ‘complete’ in a way. They knew this man made their mother happy, which was more than enough reason to behave somewhat, but that didn’t mean they still fully trusted him. At least enough to take in his last name.

After a long talk with her husband, their mother approved of her boys keeping her maiden name. She knew it was hard for them to trust any man after their birth father walked out on them, leaving her struggling with two young boys, with a life filled with more downs than ups growing up. Their life didn’t even start getting better until the brothers were teenagers, their mother finally meeting their later-to-be stepfather, who happily took in not only the woman he fell in love with but the two troublesome boys that came with her.

Sure, there were still bumps in the road, and maybe the brothers caused their stepfather trouble on purpose just to see him tick, but never anything too wrong to actually give him a bad rep. They would never do that. Giving a bad rep to him would give a bad rep to their mother, and like hell, they would do that. Their mother worked too damn hard to be taken down by their idiocy.

“Excuse me?!” Rindou’s body moved before his brain could even process it, his arm quickly rising to either grab or hit this woman in front of him.

“RINDOU, STOP IT!” Bestie quickly grabs Rindou’s arm, thankful for the quick reflexes they’ve developed thanks to being good friends to such rambunctious people. They are trying their damn hardest to keep their boyfriend back, but he is taller and stronger, not to mention full of rage. As much as this woman was pissing them off too, they didn’t want Rindou to get in trouble for hitting a person in public of all places! That would be bad, especially as the park was no longer empty, some staring and whispering at the scene. Oh, if only bestie knew who this woman was…

The woman is now standing there, eyes wide, “R-Rindou?”

Before Rindou can say anything, bestie practically growls, glaring at the woman, “What?”

“H-His name–” She nervously swallows, “His name is Ran, isn’t it?” She quickly takes out her phone, confirming the photos she saved, matching them up with the man in front of her, so then why was his name Rindou?

“His name is Rindou, you bitch,” Bestie sneers, “Now, who the fuck are you?!”

“And why are you looking for my brother?” Rin’s voice is low and menacing; eyes narrowed into a glare.

“I–” She doesn’t know what to say, but instead of answering their questions, she tries calling her private investigator, Mr. Choi, with no success. It keeps going right to voicemail, and it’s making her sweat. There was only one thing she could do, and that was to leave.

But just as she takes a step backward, both Rindou and bestie grab a wrist, each making the woman wince.

Rindou has a sinister grin on his face while bestie scowls.

“Give us your fucking name if you know what’s good for you,” Bestie threatens, only tightening the grip on her wrist when she tries to pull away.

“I-Ikeda Akari…” The woman mumbles, bestie furrowing their brows in confusion at the information.

Rindou on the other hand, curses under his breath, eyes only darkening as they keep an eye on Akari. “Babe.”

Bestie looks over, head tilted, “Yeah?”

“Do me a favor and call Ran.”

“Uh, alright…” Bestie lets go of Akira’s wrist as Rindou keeps hold of one, “Who is she?”

Rindou takes out his phone with his free hand, quickly finding his stepfather’s number and dialing just as they look over at their partner, “It’s YN’s mother.”

─────────

It had been fifteen minutes since Haji broke the news to you, and in that time, this man has said nothing since Haji brought him into the shop. With a little bit of charm, Haji had made the shop employees step out, giving the small building to the seven of you. The seven being this man following you, Haji, Nari, Sylvie, you, and two private bodyguards who were apparently on call around you three the whole day. You were shocked to say the least when the bodyguards came in, but Haji explained he always has some around when in public just in case, especially for the girls. They had been nearby, ready for anything, but far enough so they wouldn’t be noticeable. Apparently, one had stayed near Nari and Sylvie while the other went after Haji to help after he walked off.

The two bodyguards stood behind the unknown man while Haji stood in front, arms crossed and greatly aggravated. The police had already been called, but Haji wanted to get some answers out of him beforehand. He couldn’t believe your ex was telling the truth. You really were being followed around, and for what? Your mother’s selfish needs?

When he glances at you, he sees the worry on your face and hates it. Though he’s surprised you haven’t called anyone yet, even your father. Maybe you wanted answers yourself too.

Haji takes a deep breath, eyes set into a stern glare, “Tell us who hired you. I don’t give a shit if it’s a private contract. You already committed a crime by stalking YN, who has done nothing to deserve this.”

The man stays silent.

“Tch,” Haji shakes his head, a little laugh of disbelief leaving his lips, “You know you won’t win, right?”

The man stays silent again, but his eyebrows furrow slightly, and the musician knows he has him now.

“Do you not know who I am?” Haji asks before motioning to his best friends, “Who theyare?” He laughs, “Have you not questioned yourself why I had two bodyguards at the ready?” The man doesn’t move, but his eyes show his curiosity. “Wow… You’re horrible at your occupation then. Isn’t it your job to know everything and anything of those who you’re hired to investigate?” By now Haji’s voice has dropped a tone, each word like venom, “Stay silent then, but just know, my lawyers are going to have a field day with you.”

This comment seems to make the man finally react, “What?”

“I can be nice and tell them to make a deal with you, but you can kiss your job and any other possible opportunities goodbye unless you give me some information now. No one likes a fucking stalker, especially to women.”

“Y-You can’t!” And he finally breaks, “You’re just spewing bullshit!”

“Am I now?” Haji huffs, nodding his head to the guard on the left. “Show him.” The guard takes out his phone, typing quickly before he practically shoves the screen in front of the man’s face.

“What is this?”

“Read it.”

Not having no other choice, the man reads what’s on the screen and goes pale. “Y-You’re a celebrity…?” Haji nods as the guard moves his phone away, “Why- what? This doesn’t make sense! This girl is just a college student isn’t she?! Why is she even with you?!”

Nari steps up, face red with frustration, “Because she’s our friend! Our friend who has done nothing wrong to deserve this!”

“Nari-” Sylvie tries to pull her back, but Nari only shakes off her hand.

“So what’s it to you if we’re famous and she’s not?! Why does that even matter?!” The man stutters but can’t get a word out. “And now you fucked with the wrong people. I’ll call my lawyers too because this is unacceptable. Sometimes, private investigators are needed for case-sensitive cases, but this? Whatever your reasoning, my lawyers, along with Hajime’s, will make sure you never work again.”

“Wait!” The man sighs, shaking his head, “Alright fine….”

Haji tries again, “One last chance. Who hired you?”

“Her name is Ikeda Akira.”

“And what is she to YN?”

The man goes silent, looking down at the floor, “… Her mother.”

You can feel when your three friends turn to look at you, but you don’t say anything. You simply walk up to stand next to Haji as your phone already dials someone.

“YN?” Your dad’s voice rings through the speakerphone, “Sunshine? I thought you were out with those famous friends of yours today?”

“I am.”

Your cold voice immediately lets him know you’re not alright. “What’s going on? Did something happen? Do you want me to pick you up?”

“Dad,” You cut in.

“Yeah?”

“What’s my mother’s name again?”

“I-” There’s a rustling sound, almost as if he was about to drop his phone, “What? Why?”

“Dad, please…”

The line is quiet before he sighs, “Ikeda Akira.” And you see red. “What’s going on, YN? You never ask about your mother unless you absolutely need to.”

“One sec Dad,” You hand your phone to Haji, who looks at you in confusion, but before he can even get one word out, your fist connects to the man’s nose sending him to his ass with a bleeding nose. Haji whistles at the sight while one of the guards stifles a laugh, the other not bothering to hide his laughter. Nari and Sylvie are looking at you like fish out of water.

“LN YN?! Did you just hit someone?!”

You laugh as you take back your phone, shaking your right hand. It had been a while since you punched someone, that hard at least, but it still felt as good as it always did.

“YN! This is no laughing matter! You know you can’t do reckless shit with-”

“Dad,” You let out a shaky sigh, the call now off speaker, “Hajime and his two guards just found a private investigator following me.”

“…What?”

“Hired and sent by this Akira herself.”

You didn’t have to see your dad’s expression to know he was upset, angry. His voice said it all. “I’ll call you right back, Sunshine.”
