Poor Nevna. It’s like Zaki’s watching a slideshow of all the worst moments in this series :-(

…Well, it seems we’re immediately off to a happy start this chapter. But also… haven’t we kinda seen this scene before…?

Aaaaaaand that’s a wrap on chapter 17!
This is undoubtedly the most, um… bizarre, ominous, and potentially story-breaking ending I think we’ve had to a chapter so far. If it feels like a lot of plot threads are starting to come to a head, well… that’s because they are. BINARY STAR will be 20 chapters in total, so there are only 3 chapters left now.
That’s actually part of the reason why there will be a nearly two-month gap between chapters 17 and 18. I need time to finish up a couple short stories I’m working on for some anthologies, but more than that, I’m going to finally write the rest of the script for BINARY STAR.
When it comes to story writing, I fall on the “gardener” side of the planning process, not the “architect” side. What I mean is that while I’ve had all the major beats of BINARY STAR planned out since inception and I’ve always known how it all ends, I intentionally chose not to write the entire script ahead of time because I prefer to let a story grow organically. I usually write each chapter’s script right before I draw it, and then I wait until that chapter’s over to start writing the next one.
However, I also believe a story needs to stick the landing, so it’s finally time for me to write the final chapters. After five years of BINARY STAR, it feels really, really weird to say that… and kinda terrifying…
But, on the other hand, entering the final three chapters means shit’s about to hit the fan, so I hope you guys are ready for chapter 18! This rollercoaster’s crested over the hill and from here on out, we’re dropping into a violent freefall towards the finish line!
Thank you all so much for riding the rollercoaster with me up until now! You’ve all helped me push that cart up the hill and I can’t wait to leap into these final chapters with you! As always, stay tuned for plenty of BINARY STAR content in the next couple months, such as process photos, new merch, the next Kickstarter, etc.
Love you all!!!

Yeah, this doesn’t seem ominous nor potentially horrific at all…

Despite what Zuri-el’s saying, this all feels strangely inevitable… and extremely ominous…

I’m so glad Zaki got her necklace back. It felt weird seeing her without it the past few chapters.

It’s a minor detail, but I think this might be the first time Zaki’s ever referred to anyone in this story as a “friend.”

Zaki always seems a little unhinged, but she’s also sucha mood. Screw this guy.

Did I imprison our protagonists inside a giant aquarium because I thought it would be funny? Why, yes. Yes, I did. Also, I’m feeling strangely insulted right now…

It’s amazing how Kaziz can be brutally honest anda completely transparent liar all at once.

Hmm, I wonder if using some kinda semi-omnipotent space deity counts as “cheating.”
