gonna take this chance to mention that I’m renaming this au to the seahorse au, which was suggested by @pointless-doodle!! it fits and its a pun, I couldn’t resist

so it seems ppl liked those bby unitaur kaisa drawings?? its always nice when the silly sketch stuff gets more attention than you expect. anyway here’s johanna too bc its baby hours on the blog now

she has a long-standing habit of getting her clothes/accessories from shipwrecks

one of these is the joke that started this entire au (@ewwgene-fitzherbert’s fault, ofc) have fun figuring out which :)

ok so apparently my new hobby is 1) making AUs that completely nerf the characters and 2) trying to work out how the events of the show can still happen :’) aka I got talking to @ewwgene-fitzherbert about how stone forest would even work in this AU so…here

the main difference is that obviously two merfolk are not gonna get far on land or underground, so after they get stuck in the stone forest hilda shares what’s left of her magic with her mum (the pendant gets broken in the fall) so they both have a shot at getting out. which…isn’t a big deal at first, but it means the stakes are a bit higher bc with them both using hilda’s magic it’s set to run out, fast, and it’s more of a race to get out before it’s too late

I have a couple other thoughts that I’ll do in another post if I get the energy but otherwise it goes more or less the same as the show, just with about 5 degrees more stress I guess :>
