#september
PCOS is a condition in which the sex hormones in a female’s body are imbalanced, which can cause ovarian cysts, weight gain, changes in menstrual cycle, infertility, and other symptoms. An early diagnosis is important with PCOS because the condition has been linked to an increased risk of multiple medical issues including insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart disease. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders that affects in numbers as high as 1 in 10. While it has been recognized and diagnosed for over seventy-five years, less than 50% of women are diagnosed due to the lack of knowledge, and awareness.
The month of September is for PCOS awareness, which is incredibly important for those of us living with the condition. Last year I wrote up a detailed post that I shared throughout the month, and again this year, I want to make sure that it is shared so awareness is spread, and we raise our voices for everyone who lives with this syndrome. You can find that original post here, so please share it so people are informed! On the post, when you reblog it, please don’t hesitate to share your story.
Below this you can find some more information that I would like people to know about PCOS and what OurPCOS has to offer with links included to the original posts.
Join the My PCOS Page by filling out this questionnaire and submitting it to OurPCOS. In that section you can find others living with the condition and it’s a great way to meet other people. Check it out and message someone!
Resources for PCOS information can be found here. Some websites I recommend are PCOS Nutrition Center, SoulCysters, and PCOS Foundation.

Do not let PCOS stop you from that goal you’re trying to achieve, that career you want, or anything that you want to accomplish. Strive for that goal, envision yourself at that goal, and go for it!
I am proud of each and every one of you, whether you’re just starting on your journey or have been on your journey for some time now. You are taking that step to become a better you.
Do not let negative words discourage you.
Do not be afraid to go to someone for motivation.
Remember your strengths and accomplishments.
Keep a positive mind.
Stay strong and strive for the better.
Be proud of who you are.
PCOS does not define you.
