The Sims 4 Patch Update!
In todays base game patch The Sims team has expanded upon the Neighborhood Stories system they first added back in November last year. So far we’ve mostly seen a lot of phone calls from known (and sometimes unknown) sims, with questions about whether they should try for a baby or try to get promoted in their career.
Now it seems we’ll get a lot more to control! I’ve cut out a few of the highlights but to get the whole picture I’ll recommend you to read the official blog post.
“Neighbor Sims everywhere may now:
- Adopt young Sims into their household, aged between infant and children.
- Become pregnant with their Significant Other, and eventually deliver. Family-Oriented Sims are more likely to do this, while Noncommittal Sims are less likely. If a Sim or their SO Hates Children, they will never do this.
- Some Sims may instead adopt a dog or cat (requires The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs).
- Join and leave careers. Sim Traits heavily influence these decisions. Elder Sims may decide to retire.
- Households can move into and out of lots.Die in different kinds of accidents, depending on risk factors such as Age, Traits, and Career.
A critical part of the Neighborhood Stories System is a set of new gameplay controls that allow you to tune which life changes Neighbor Sims can and cannot have.
- Independent configurations for My Households vs. Other Households.For each group of households in a particular tab, you can choose to enable or disable each type of life change and even disallow all Neighborhood Stories for those households. This provides a fast and easy way to decide what happens to played households in My Households, versus Other Households out in the world. (Rotational players, we see you!)
- Household-specific configurations. Want even more control? Do you have a vision for which households need which types of life changes? You can make it happen! Each and every household can have its own configuration, allowing you to tailor life changes that make sense to that household’s storyline.
- Global enable/disable setting. If life changes happening all over the world are just not your thing, that’s okay! Neighborhood Stories can be entirely disabled under Game Options using the “Reset Custom Configurations” Button.
On any mailbox, try the new Check Recent Neighborhood Stories interaction. You can keep tabs on all the recent Neighborhood Stories. If you’re so inclined, use that information to visit the Neighbor Sims and see their life changes in person!”
What about fixing My Wedding Stories?
I’m pretty sure that this patch does not include any of the upcoming fixes for My Wedding Stories but that we can expect another patch to be arriving in the coming weeks. That patch should include the fixes/improvements listed on the Laundry List that was posted March 3.Post link

Small Telescope Coming in Pre-Werewolves Patch!
SimGuruNova on Twitter has shared a picture of a “normal” sized telescope and revealed that it will arrive for all players in a Base Game patch before the release of the Werewolves game pack!
Another small telescope, which ties into the lore of the pack, will be included in the Werewolves pack.

You’ll be offered an unsupported The Sims 4 Legacy Edition in June (tentative date) that disables the gallery and other online features. You will not get bug fixes, content updates or be able to buy any Expansion, Game or Stuff Packs released after February 2019 for The Sims 4.

More Staff Changes
Rachel Franklin joins the long line of management changes at Maxis since the Sims 4′s launch. Ray Mazza, Creative Director, Lucy Bradshaw, Maxis Senior Vice President, Magnus Hollmo, Art Director and now Rachel Franklin, General Manager of Maxis. Rachel left a goodbye message on Twitter:

EA forms EA Worldwide Studios and lumps what’s left of Maxis into it under the continued direction of Samantha Ryan who now reports to Patrick Söderlund.

The Sims 4: Two Years of Meh
“I want a different game than [The Sims 4] is and they’re not willing to make that game.” Nothing more needs to be said.
Here’s to hoping The Sims 5 is being developed with fans in mind and is everything we’ve come to love about The Sims only better. Or at least not worse if better is too much to ask for.
The Sims 4 gets its third Creative Director.
Matt Brown takes over for Lyndsay Pearson, who filled the position after Ray Mazza left Maxis following the Sims 4′s launch.
According to Matt Brown’s LinkedIn profile he’s held the position for nine months and is credited as Creative Director on both Dine Out and Kids Room Stuff.
Matt Brown has also worked on The Sims 2, The Sims 3 and SimCity in the past as well as Playstation’s God of War 4 and a Blizzard MMO.

The latest Sims 4 survey is making the rounds (it’s by invitation only, check your email) and this time it includes a short blurb for 11 potential expansion pack themes. Four of the expansion pack themes (Generations, Vacations, On The Road and Find Love) included a detailed description.
Of note: There is no mention of a Pet expansion pack or the popular Town Life (with neighborhood editing tools) option from the October 2014 survey.

Q: “Where’s everything in Sims 4?”
Peter Moore: “I got all this stuff,” and they forget, “well it’s taken me years, to accumulate this.” Then you ship Sims 4 - now we just did the expansion pack and everything’s starting to feel good about Sims 4 now - but it takes a long time to do that and we always totally underestimate that when we ship a Sims game. You forget what most people now are living with.

For those trying to predict a release schedule for The Sims 4 content it might be a waste of time right now. According to Graham Nardone they’re experimenting to see what sells:
