So this episode covered a lot of ground effectively which is great, all the setup done this week and all the flashbacks done next week will make for a smoother structure than the manga I think! Though at the same time a lot of small details seem to have been lost in the process unfortunately : x A lot of Zeke seeing/remembering the island, Reiner dropping the spoon like Eren in 1.03 when remembering, Gabi defending him at dinner, Porco walking in on Pieck (;-;) and a bunch of other small things, which I’m pretty sad about, but not everything is gonna make the cut. Plus it looks like they added lots of little interactions with Porco Pieck and the warrior kidlets, cant wait to have subs for those!! Also the eldian suicide was a nice/awful touch.
The animation level again is really impressive here!! characters have a ton of detail, even maintaining that while being in motion. It makes all of these scenes really nice to look at, and I’m glad we’re getting so much quality content already, though I reeeally hope Mappa can actually maintain this for a good amount of time, till things start to get really heated up.
Overall, a lovely episode, some nice directing and editing especially with Reiner’s ptsd. Also ERREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN
This journey is coming to and end, but no matter how Isayama will decide to end it all - and the way all of us will feel about it - it has surely been one hell of a ride. In commemoration of the approaching ending of Shingeki no Kyojin, here’s the Enemies of Mankind.
