Su questo dubbio, senza la pretesa di scioglierlo, ma di esprimerlo in immagini, di tradurlo in connessioni visive ed emotive, si sviluppa Tempo incolume: una riflessione sullo spazio e sulla possibilità di sottrarlo alla distruzione
Tempo incolume si muove all’interno di una casa simbolica in cui possono essere ritrovati i suoi oggetti feticcio: i ritratti di famiglia, le tappezzerie, la consistenza dei muri …
Tempo incolume è la capacità della memoria di riattivare uno spazio ormai dissolto, di veder fiorire un giardino lontano

Pakui Hardware, Underbelly, solo show at MdbK Leipzig, Germany, 2019
Underbelly is an entirely new immersive installation inspired by and developed for the luminous spaces of MdBK Leipzig. In it, the viewer enters a sort of an oversized belly – soft and open for inspection. Transparent quasi-familiar objects are impressed in the fabric of the giant belly – they too resemble enlarged organisms. They voluntarily expose themselves for examination, opening their interiors for the viewer’s eye. Invasive medicine of the past is substituted here by (un)conscious and enthusiastic self exhibition and health’s data philanthropy. Our underbellies are now uncovered for everyone.

“Throughout these poetic abstractions, Baras traces a wide-ranging continuum of experiences, from that of the body, to language, to landscape, and anthropology – and their attendant symbology. Through the canvases’ rich surfaces, allusions emerge slowly, the many modes of application (embroidery, collage, quilting, wood working) lending a depth to both the physical and semiotic structure of the painting. Only at this point does the imagery arise, pivoting upon each authentic translation and interpretation of the work. Despite the specificity of her personal, pictorial vocabulary, the work’s impact is direct in any context, and rewards a multiplicity of readings.” - through Oct 9
