What’s the longest drive you’ve ever been on? For me, it’s a tie between 2 different roadtrips. Once I drove from Arizona to Tennessee which was about 27 hours total and more recently I drove from South Dakota back home to Knoxville which took around 24 hours!

I dont mind long trips like this and sometimes prefer them to the hustle and bustle of a long day in an airport (only sometimes though ) I think I often romanticize these trips because some of my favorite books, like the darkest minds and on the road, are centered around being in a car for long periods of time. I think it’s safe to say that we’ve all had a pretty rough year but I’m sure we’ve also had a few good things sprinkled in as well!! What’s been the best thing to come out of 2020 for you?

I think mine would be my trip to South Dakota with my boyfriend. Actually any time i spend with @kmoon707 is a bright spot for me, but especially that trip.

As a kid, one of my favorite movies was Richie Rich starring Macaulay Culkin. It was filmed in the town I was born in, which was very exciting for me at the time. One of my favorite scenes from the movie is the part where they’re in the vault at Mt. Richmore (the movie version of Mt. Rushmore) which is why South Dakota has always been a bucket list place for me. This year, on my birthday, I finally got to check it off the list!

This photo was taken on a short hike off of Needles Highway, which was incredible to see in person. I have lots more photos to share of our trip, which was spent in masks and as socially distant as possible, so ill be sharing those in my story today! Not sure if anyone noticed but ive been doing quite a bit of social distancing this year - and not just the coronavirus kind. I decided that I wanted to focus on being more present in my day to day life in 2020 because i was feeling very burnt out on this whole social media thing. Most of you know that I started creating content for the bookish world several years ago and since then ive held myself to impossible standards. Creating new content every single day for YEARS and it finally caught up with me. I started to hate what I was putting out into the world and let it take me to a really bad place mentally so for the sake of me and my creativity i decided to stop letting social media take priority in my life. This little tolerance break did wonders for me and although im not ready to dive back in 100% of the way, i am ready to dip my toes! So expect periodic content from here on out!!!! Reflecting on the year of 2018.
Have gone through some of life’s lows but thankfully the highs still outnumbered them. People who came into my life; some have stayed, some chose to leave. But, we gotta carry on. Taking my mother on a vacation in Thailand, being able to travel by myself in Bali and take unexpectedly great self portaits like this would be the best highlights of my 2018.
