Zhang Ping is a poor scholar who wanders on the streets, who makes use of his skills in pulling noodles to make a living. Despite being unremarkable in looks, he has a meddlesome nature and likes to involve himself in the cases of the government. Using his sharp observational skills and out of the box thinking, he is able to grasp the unique points of each case. However due to his solitary nature he isn’t well liked by others. One day while selling noodles on the street, he meets and befriends Lan Jue, the current Minister of Rites. From then on he embarks on a new lease of life. Under Lan Jue’s recommendation, he slowly transforms from a poor scholar to a minister in the Dali Temple, solving cases and handling affairs in the court; making a name for himself as a genius detective.

Soooo……let me tell you all how I feel about this drama….

⚠️⚠️⚠️WARNING⚠️⚠️⚠️-LOTS OF SPOILER

~I’m just gonna go ahead and tell y’ll that they do not regain their past memories. I looked all around the internet to see when they do and they don’t. The ending might hint it but it’s not clear enough.~

○ First of all, it took 16 episodes for them to kill the Liu Song Emperor…………….. Chuyu had so many opportunities to kill that crazy emperor but she kept hesitating. She did learn that he was her real brother so I see why she wavered. But still, she forgot the main purpose of why she went to the palace. The emperor was fricken crazy as heck but I have to admit he has a cute face! haha  They shouldn’t have drag this out this long though. [Emperor ⬇️⬇️⬇️]

○ After that, both of the Protagonist loses their memories…… Now, what the heck is this. Not just one, but both of them loses their memories???? It was like watching a whole new drama because of the new location, new characters, Rong Zhi’s is a prince now (because we didn’t know that before), more love rivals, EVERYTHING was just new. The story line was still interesting but it just felt weird because it was like a whole new drama but it wasn’t….Like i mentioned above: They do not remember their past, which sucked a lot!! I was waiting for that day because it would’ve been cute!

○ Then we don’t see any of the character from the first 16 episodes anymore because of the change of location in the story line….only saw people I didn’t like. I missed the characters from the first 16 episodes and I have to admit, I missed the crazy dead emperor too. It’s just so weird that the screenwriter didn’t have any of them make an appearance (i heard its based off of a novel?? so maybe that’s how it was written?). I was really hoping to see Huan Yuan, Huo Cuo, Wang Yi, Liu Sang, Mo Xiang, and Yue Jie Fei again!! I was waiting, and waiting and waiting and we only got to see the Pavilion Master, Xiao Daocheng, and Tian Rujing, all who I don’t care for. But since they both lost their memories, those characters aren’t important anymore??? I don’t know, but they were important to me!

○  Shen Yu and Qingyue were a cute couple but I wished their romance would’ve developed a little more. I think they were the only new characters that I liked. I liked Huo Xuan a little

○ Ending was good but I feel betrayed because the storyline was too draggy and the ending was just ok…..Chuyu and Rong Zhi loved each other but fricken Rong Zhi wouldn’t admit to it until the end!! He did admit it but that was before they both lost their memories (smh). Guys, that was 52 episode of him denying his love for her!! We all know that he loved her and cared for her but he couldn’t admit it. That was just way too draggy for me. Also, the story could’ve been better written. There were times, I didn’t understand what was going on or why people where doing some stuff. Then it will just get mention really quick and that was that, no good explanations at all. For example the whole thing with Wang Yi was not really clear to me or why Rong Zhi just casually went to go live at Princess Chuyu’s manor in the south like it was his own house….He got there before Chuyu did too… What the heck??

Don’t get me wrong, I like this drama but 52 episode wasn’t really worth my time. I wouldn’t recommend it but I would recommend it if you’re looking for some heart-skipping romance. Rong Zhi is so gentle and subtle and I love that about the romance in this drama. The only thing that kept me going was Song Weilong (Rong Zhi) How can he be so attractive?? From his first appearance to his last, he was just flawless~ I mean I thought he looked good here:

But then he looked even better here:

Then I looked at modern pictures of him and I almost died!
