Last year was hard. I was in a state where I was emotionally and physically tired of everything. I was lost. I was drowning in my emotions. I went through a heartbreak and eventually forgot to love myself. At that time, I felt like a different person who was dependent on someone else. But I came to surpass all those messy, beautiful things that has happened to me. It helped me grow, become wiser, and become appreciative of what I have now, and gradually learned to love myself. I am so thankful for my family, best friends, and God whom I always lean upon through my sad, crazy, and happy times.
I wrote a song about it entitled “Unknown” wherein I was able to work with my talented genius friend, Daniel Halim aka alongthewalls. So beyond thankful for him <3. This is the final project. I put my whole heart writing this about my story; about our story. And I’m truly happy and blessed it’s out now in the world.

Known for: Singer & songwriter of modern folk, pop, & contemporary Christian music. She’s a relative newcomer in the music industry, though she has found some success fairly early on. She is known for such music singles “Cold”, “6′2″”, & “You’re Not Alone”. She found success mostly in the Christian music field, but she later gained more attention when her single “6′2″” on the television show Dancing With The Stars for James Maslow & Peta Murgatroyd. She also gained some notoriety for performing for Pope Francis when he visited Philadelphia in 2015 for the Festival for Families. Though she’s still not as big as many other singers out there, her music has been met with great praise, with her second album Letterbox being compared favorably to the music of Shania Twain & Sara Bareilles, & hopefully from here on out she finds more success in music!
Evidence of Faith:According to an article from the Catholic Herald that discusses Marie’s performance for Pope Francis, it explains that she was reared in the Catholic faith by her family, & is a regular parishioner of St. Peter’s Mission Catholic Church in Washington, Virginia. The article itself, using quotes from Marie herself, also make it clear that she’s very much into the Catholic faith, as she explains that she asked to be part of the Festival for Families just to see Pope Francis, & that she prayed to God for this opportunity. She even goes on to say “Pope Francis inspires me to be courageous and to go against the status quo, but also to recognize the dignity of each person no matter where they are on their faith journey….” There’s also the fact that she specializes in contemporary Christian music, so her own music makes her faith clear… & in doing this, it makes me wonder if I’m breaking my own rules once again like I did for the Audrey Assad post. Well, whatever you may think, there’s no denying that Marie is Catholic!
