Last year was hard. I was in a state where I was emotionally and physically tired of everything. I was lost. I was drowning in my emotions. I went through a heartbreak and eventually forgot to love myself. At that time, I felt like a different person who was dependent on someone else. But I came to surpass all those messy, beautiful things that has happened to me. It helped me grow, become wiser, and become appreciative of what I have now, and gradually learned to love myself. I am so thankful for my family, best friends, and God whom I always lean upon through my sad, crazy, and happy times.
I wrote a song about it entitled “Unknown” wherein I was able to work with my talented genius friend, Daniel Halim aka alongthewalls. So beyond thankful for him <3. This is the final project. I put my whole heart writing this about my story; about our story. And I’m truly happy and blessed it’s out now in the world.

I mentioned Perfume Genius in our previous feature tonight, so it’s only proper that we now follow it up with the latest gem from the esteemed Iowan, whose true genius always shines through on the immense array of chamber pop music he’s given us this decade. I first fell for Mike Hadreas just before he released his 2012 album Put Your Back N 2 It, just before he became the darling of the indie world with his followup releases. He brings back some of that record’s sparser intimacy in the opening minutes of Pop Song, which despite its name, is no conventional pop ditty. But who would expect anything mundane from Hadreas? Pop Song soon breaks out into grander scale movement, flush with other worldly percussion, enchanting chimes, and a verdantly textured, fluidly shifting soundscape. Pop Song will be on Perfume Genius’ immersive dance project The Sun Still Burns Here, which makes its way to the Joyce Theatre in NYC on November 13th with musician himself, choreographer Kate Wallich, and dance company The YC in attendance. Performnace runs in Minneapolis and Boston follow in December and January. Stream Pop Song, here.

Not too familiar with pentatonix’ work, but lindsey has some amazing violin cover of pop songs. I think she was one of the first violin cover artist i took notice to when i wanted to pick up violin again, and she has ever since captured my attention with her music. Pretty girl playing a sick violin is so attractive :) enjoy
