Not only is delisting older video games from digital shops anti-consumer, but it also communicates to the consumer that your company doesn’t have faith that it has made a superior product that is worth whatever you’re charging for it.

Obviously, in some cases this lack of faith is justified, such as the GTA3 era re-releases. But then I look at Sonic Origins, which includes features like an interconnected story, Knuckles in Sonic 1, the Hidden Palace Zone in Sonic 2, etc. And so on the surface it looks like a much more worthwhile package than previous releases. But then I look at the delisting and think to myself, “Just how badly do those coins they introduced fuck up the whole experience?”

Introducing: Sonic Speed Strats! Take a deep dive into Sonic Origins and learn all about the new modes and additions to this remastered collection.

New official Classic Super Sonic art!

Just remember… Sonic Origins is now using updated versions of the prototype tracks from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Do you recall what was the final official release to use those tracks?

Yeah!

Long live the Sonic & Garfield Pack!

What is going on with the terrible way SEGA, IGN, and other sources are getting Sonic news out?

Frontiers’ segmented video releases are so scrambled that fans are left confused and disappointed. It took the third IGN video to clarify that the footage is of an older build. It makes the game look terrible and first impressions are all ready locked in.

Sonic Central was also so lame. I know they’re “sneak peeks,” but are we really going to act like 8 second reveals are acceptable? I’m stoked for Sonic Frontiers: Prologue, but showing a gif of Knuckles at the Master Emerald shrine doesn’t cut it. Sonic Prime just sort of showing Shadow… doesn’t cut it. No real information on Frontiers… doesn’t cut it! Also, why did they waste time talking about the Sonic movie 2 digital release… when it was already out for weeks. It was their own event… why was it so rushed?

Geoff Keighley blatantly lied about Sonic being at Summer Game Fest. There’s no other way to look at it. It was a complete lie. Moreover, showing footage of Sonic in every piece of advertisement and then claiming that “it was showing highlights from past events” is just dishonest. It’s like if Mario Strikers showed Mario and then the game came out and he just was nowhere in it.

The IGN interview about Sonic Frontiers was scheduled and then delayed a day… but nobody said a word about that until 20 minutes after it was supposed to air.

The Sonic Origins music thing just feels sneaky. Like they were tip-toeing around the issue for as long as they possibly could. It’s genuinely disappointing that the music won’t be what the original game had, but also that we had to be dragged along until this came out. Then again this is the same company that released the Origins reveal and made it look like S3K wouldn’t be in widescreen too, so I should be surprised.

It’s 2022 and SEGA isn’t new at this! I don’t get why this has been such a disaster and it’s insanely frustrating as a Sonic fan. We can and should demand better.

What is going on…?
