LIVE

April 2022 Ace Attorney Events

This month is goddamn awful every time things happen in it. 6 people die in total lmao… not entirely sure how that stacks up to other months though

As always, this post will contain SPOILERS. This one contains them for:

  • Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulations
  • Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney
  • Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice
  • The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles

Also note that this post concerns only titles with an English release, so GK2 dates will not be present.  All information is taken from the Ace Attorney Wiki’s timeline. I will also assume DGS takes place around 1900 and will use that year as a benchmark.

Heere we go

~122 year anniversary of (~1900):

April 1st: On his well-deserved trip back to Japan, Natsume Soseki sends a telegram back to Ryuunosuke and Susato.
April 8th:
Sholmes demonstrates his amazing intellectual skills by picking up the entirely wrong instrument from a pawn shop, and mopes like a child because of his own wrongdoings.
April 16-17th:
Pop Windibank, the owner of the aforementioned pawn shop, is uncerimoniously killed, while Sholmes is injured. Gina Lestrade is put on trial, and Ryuunosuke publicly leaks government information.
April 18th:
Susato runs back off to Japan, leaving Ryuunosuke to deal with Sholmes & co. all on his own.

7 year anniversary of (2015):

April 9th: Dahlia Hawthorne casually murders Doug Swallow.
April 11th: Trial of Phoenix Wright for the murder of Doug Swallow, where the defendant somehow swallows a glass necklace full of poison without ill effects…

3 year anniversary of (2019):

April 13th: Magnifi Gramarye commits suicide, while also indirectly framing someone for murder and….
April 19th: …disbarring Phoenix by having his granddaughter hand him some scrap of paper. What an utterly stupid situation

In 4 years (2026):

April 17th: Shadi Enigmar is murdered by Kristoph Gavin because idk, maybe he just felt like it. Good luck getting those black locks unlocked ig
April 20th: Trial of Phoenix Wright for Shadi’s murder and Apollo’s debut. Apollo accidentally fires himself.

In 6 years (2028):

April 23rd: Phoenix arrives in Khura'in and Paht Rohl is murdered by Pees'lubn Andistan'dhin, proving that the mere presence of Phoenix causes murders.
April 24th: Trial of Ahlbi Ur'gaid for Paht Rohl’s murder, which turns into a musical for a brief second.
April 27th: Manov Mistree is unceremoniously murdered by Roger Retinz, because idk screw the Gramaryes & this random dude or whatever.
April 28th: Trial of Trucy Wright for Manov Mistree’s murder.

May 2022 Ace Attorney Events

Utterly terrifying that SoJ “happens” in 6 years. Last I checked that shit was like, 10 years away? jesus

As always, this post will contain SPOILERS. This one contains them for:

  • Ace Attorney: Justice for All
  • Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice

Also note that this post concerns only titles with an English release, so GK2 dates will not be present.  All information is taken from the Ace Attorney Wiki’s timeline. I will also assume DGS takes place around 1900 and will use that year as a benchmark.

Heere we go

6-year anniversary of (2016):

May 2: A malpractice incident at the Grey Surgical Clinic somehow manages to kill 14 people.
May 24: Ini and Mimi Miney get in a car crash. Ini dies, while her sister is mistaken for her. She uses this for the completely understandable task of assisting with murder.

In 6 years (2028):

May 8: Rheel Neh'mu is killed in self defense by Beh'leeb Inmee, while Datz Are'bal escapes from prison. Those three name puns make that sentence quite… Badd.
May 10: Tahrust Inmee commits tactical death.
May 11: First leg of Maya’s trial. She just can’t get a break, can she?
May 12: Second leg of Maya’s trial, as well as Taifu Toneido’s death at the hands of Geiru Toneido, who proves that anything, yes, even dough, can be a murder weapon!
May 13: Trial of Bucky Whet for the murder of Taifu. Honestly though, the most important thing is the fact that Blackquill is there.

-a day-long break from this madness-

May 15: Archie Buff is murdered by Paul Atishon.
May 16: Dhurke Sahdmadhi is murdered by Inga Khura'in and is subsequently channeled by Maya. She returns to the US afterwards along with Phoenix.
May 17: The “civil trial” occurs. Unsurprisingly, IT WAS ACTUALLY MURDER!!1!
May 17-18: Phoenix and co. travel back to the country of Khura'in.
May 18: Inga is unceremoniously murdered by Ga'ran.
May 19: Dhurke’s long and grueling trial occurs, and Ga'ran is dethroned by a ragtag group of lawyers… somehow.
May 20: Phoenix and co. travel back to the states, while Apollo stays behind and opens the Justice Law Offices.

I’mstill salty that they didn’t channel Jove at the end of Spirit of Justice. I mean, come on, the entire plot is roughly based around channeling.

I know, I know, they do the dance of devotion thing with him, but like… he’s Apollo’s dad. Some direct communication would’ve been super interesting, even if Apollo doesn’t care too much about him.

It kind of sucks that the “second trilogy” of main-series games (AJAA-SOJ) is way more disjointed than the original trilogy. There are a lot of interesting plot points introduced in even just AJAA, but they just decided to pile on more random plot afterwards rather than draw it out.

I feel like DD might be one of the biggest problems here, as a lot of new msc. story material is added. SoJ adds a lot as well but since they have to travel outside of their usual locations, it seems to work a little bit better.

I hope that, in the hypothetical next games, they commit to stuff they’ve done in SoJ rather than kind of half forgetting about it like what happened with AJAA (jury system, Apollo’s father, Thalassa, Gavin bros., etc…)

brodorokihousuke:

It’s still a bit baffling to me that Dai Gyakuten Saiban was released a year before Spirit of Justice (‘15 and '16, respectively)- there’s something about the former that makes it feel so much more polished than the latter.

I’m assuming it’s the fact that DGS (and by extension, it’s sequel) seemed to have much more direction regarding both style and plot, and wasn’t hindered by previous installments, while SoJ was sort of the opposite.

Oh my god you’re right

Especially since they went the more “anime” styled route (DD & SoJ in particular) the palette has been, well. There really hasn’t bee a palette. I don’t think there was one for the 2D installments either but I feel like it fit a little better there, the general style was also vastly better at that point imo

I will say, they improved at least a little in SoJ compared to DD- Athena’s hair getting to a more realistic color was one of the best touches. And, Iris’ pink-ass hair kind of fucks with DGS’ vibe. Either way, DGS is still on top though

“she looks a little more mature on the outside, but she’s the same old Maya.”

also with my own version of Maya, i don’t change anything much but her front hair a tiny bit and she has pink eyeliner like Mia

Saving this for the future because I like the art style and the tags in the post is tempting me.

Edgeworth: Just so you know, Wright, I am the lead prosecutor on this case.

Phoenix: What?! You?!

Edgeworth: Yes. It appears we’ll be standing on opposite ends of the battlefield this time around.

Phoenix:(So I’ll be up against Edgeworth tomorrow…)

Edgeworth: I always prosecute to the utmost of my abilities, regardless of who I’m up against.

Edgeworth: And I’m warning you, Wright. I won’t hold back, not for you or anyone else.

Phoenix: (Thanks for the warning, Your Rightesousness.)

(Note to self: add “Your Righteousness” to the list of names Phoenix calls Edgeworth, along with “Sir” and “Daddy.”)

Edgeworth: Already started your investigation, I see. I suppose I should praise your enthusiasm.

Phoenix: You don’t need to patronize me, Edgeworth…

Phoenix: Just because you’re chief prosecutor doesn’t make you better than me.

Edgeworth: But when I see a lawyer from some tiny, obscure office hard at work…

…it’s only natural that I should want to do my part to help the socially impoverished.

(I hope Larry still knows how to dial 911 after that burn.)

Edgeworth: So the suspect is claiming that she made a wish on that pendant…

…and was transported back in time.

Phoenix: Y-Yeah…

Edgeworth: Hah! Of all the ridiculous things in this world!

Edgeworth: and you actually believe this fantastic story of hers?

Phoenix: Umm… W-Well, I, uh…

Edgeworth: Hmph. You should drop this case if you can’t bring yourself to believe in your own client’s words.

Edgeworth: Not that I can blame you for your skepticism, mind you.

Phoenix: Nnngh…

(Just business as usual for Phoenix.)

Edgeworth: A flying wedding chapel… That’s a rather romantic venue, isn’t it?

Phoenix: Romantic? I never thought I’d hear THAT word come out of your mouth. Are you feeling okay there?

Edgeworth: What? Am I not allowed to think such a thing?

Phoenix: W-Wait. You’re not thinking about finally settling down and getting married, are you?

Edgeworth:

Why do you always have to jump to such extreme conclusions?

Edgeworth: For your information, I have no intention of doing such a thing… What about you, Wright?

Phoenix: No plans here for now, even if I wanted to…

Phoenix: (Well, at least I found out how Edgeworth feels about marriage. Not that it has anything to do with the case…)

Did you know that I am an attorney? Here is my badge.

???: Hmph. I see you haven’t changed a bit, Larry.

Phoenix: E-Edgeworth! I figured that car belonged to you.

Phoenix: But when did you become Maya’s chauffeur?

Edgeworth: Its nothing like that. I just happened to run into her en route, and picked her up.

Edgeworth: And by ‘run into her,’ I mean she jumped out in front of my car. I nearly ran her down.

Phoenix:(This is Miles Edgeworth.)

Phoenix: (He’s a friend of mine, and the district’s chief prosecutor. I heard he’s been busy lately…)

Phoenix: So what brings you here? Wait… Don’t tell me Larry called you up, too?

Edgeworth: He did. However, I have business of my own here at the crime scene.

*vroom*

Phoenix: Th-That red sports car!

Phoenix: Larry, don’t tell me you called…

Larry: You know it, buddy!

???: I trust you’ve been well, Wright?

Phoenix: !

Maya: Surprise! Now, admit it — that was a pretty good Mr. Edgeworth impression, wasn’t it?

Phoenix: M-Maya! What are you doing here?

Maya: Larry called me up!

(I love how Phoenix has become a stuttering mess at the thought of Edgeworth arriving.)

Hi. I’ll draw shit if you ask me nicely. You can also send in asks or memes. Only rule is you have to be respectful and treat me like a human being lmao. I also have the right to deny your request if I just don’t feel like it.

Crazy how this happened on new years eve. Thanks.
