recovery au my beloved
happy fibbleforb friday u all
@stanuary week 4 is Past. This fic kinda fits the theme. They’re trying to return to the past!
Sequel to The Good Ol’ Days
The rounds didn’t stop. Some of them actually fit the gladiatorial combat theme, like tightrope jousting over a pool of Time Sharks, or fighting a Cyclocks, or even racing Time Bikes. But other things were just dumb, like Giant Time Jenga, or Time Chess, or a freaking Time Wheelbarow Race! Worst of all, there’d still been no sign of those age-changing power-ups that Dundgren had mentioned. Stan was not enjoying this nearlyas much as he’d hoped he would.
The score on the Time Board now read 302 to 311. The twins were in the lead for now, but they were both getting tired, and this Dohs Hunthou guy was still young and spry.
Well, if you couldn’t be as strong as the other guy, you could at least psych him out.
“Can you believe this guy is the grand Globular champion or whatever?” Stan asked his brother, jabbing a derisive thumb in the time gladiator’s direction. “We’re a couple of old fogies, and we’re in the lead!”
Ford was leaning against a wall to catch his breath. “Don’t count our opponent out yet, Stan. We don’t even know how many rounds we have left to go.”
Stan rolled his eyes. “We’re trash-talkin’ the guy, genius.” He muttered quietly in his brother’s ear.
“Oh.” Ford straightened up and squinted at their adversary, as if trying to find something he could use as an insult. “Uh, you’d think someone as successful as him could afford a shirt with sleeves!”
“Yeesh.” Stan groaned. “The worst part is, I think that’s the best trash-talk I’ve ever heard come out of your mouth.”
“Thank you! Soos has been teaching me!”
“That explains everything.”
This is really starting to come together! I’m having a lot of fun learning the new features Blender has been developing! I promise I’ll give his eyes back in the next 3D art stream lmao

Summary:
“Um, hi. Is this Stanford Pines?”
“Depends who’s asking.” The gruffness had definitely taken over at that point.
“Well, uh, I’m Wirt. His nephew. Shermie’s son?”Done for the Stanuary prompt “Past.” Once again mining @allieinarden’s headcanons for story prompts.
@stanuary Week 4: Past

It is done!!!
Week 3: Ocean

And for the final week of Stanuary: Past, here’s something ridiculous that may or may not have happened to Stan, and the equally ridiculous way he may or may not have gotten out of it.
The story is also below if you want to read it here instead:
“YOU CAN CHECK OUT ANY TIME YOU LIKE!” Mabel shouted along with the song playing in the empty gift shop into her hairbrush, then passed it over to Wendy.
“BUT YOU CAN NEVER LE-AVE!” Wendy finished the line, then they moved to allow Soos to play air guitar on the broom as they cheered him on.
“All right, all right, you’re scarin’ away the customers,” Stan said grouchily as he walked in.
“Grunkle Stan, you have to sing along loudly and obnoxiously to ‘Hotel California’ whenever it comes on the radio!” Mabel said.
“Yeah, it’s like, an unwritten rule,” Wendy nodded. “Especially during summertime.”
“Since when have any of you knuckleheads worried about followin’ rules?” Stan asked, folding his arms and arranging his face into a large frown to hide his smile. “It’s a dumb song anyway.”
“That’s what I’ve been saying!” Dipper chimed in from his perch near the cash register. “It’s really about the government using substances to control-”
“Oh come on kid,” Stan interrupted, ignoring Dipper’s glare. “Nah, it’s about a creepy hotel where you can’t leave even when you want to. Been there myself.”
I’m sorry this is so late, but I couldn’t leave my boy! Enjoy Stan, Ford, an eyepatch, and a very contrived reason for the boys to be pirates for Stanuary Week 3: Ocean!
The whole thing is below too if you’d rather read it that way ;)
“I think we’re catching up!” Ford shouted joyfully at Stan as they sped through the marina on their stolen motorboat.
“OK, I take it back!” Stan grinned at his brother. “Maybe your idea wasn’t half bad as I said it-” his sentence died at the same time as the motor. “Nope, I take that back,” he said, frantically trying the motor again and again. “The whole ‘let’s dress up in suits so we can go to a fancy restaurant and get our boat stolen by-”
“I didn’t know we were going to get our boat stolen!” Ford responded, maybe a little louder than was warranted.
“Well it was still a dumb idea!” Stan said, matching his brother’s volume. He then groaned as he caught sight of the fuel gauge. “And did you have to pick the one motorboat in the marina that was out of gas?”

(Swimming - Florence + the Machine)
“Grunkle Stan?” Dipper whispers. “Are you awake?”
“Kid?” Stan asks, which he supposes answers his question. Dipper’s standing in the entranceway of the living room, tugging awkwardly at the edge of his sleep shirt and doing his best to avoid eye contact with Stan. “What are you doing up? Thought I sent you up to bed an hour ago”
“I, uh…“ he pauses. “I had trouble sleeping”
~~
In which Dipper suffers from insomnia the night Ford returns home, and Stan notices a familiar pattern in the way he’s behaving.
