Time lapse! Star trails! Joshua Tree!

“Star Trailure”

Thursday night was an attempt at star trails. As you can see something went a lil haywire

A nice wee spot I’ve shot a few times at sunset - no good for Milkyway due to its orientation, but potentially not a bad star trail spot. My intention was to dial shoot a couple of different techniques: Many, shorter exposures on the X-T4 with the 16mm 1.4 and fewer, longer exposures with the X-T2 and 10-24mm. But, as we were over water condensation was going to be a problem we might come across, and sure enough the 10-24mm was fogging up before long. I had a little lens warmer on the 16mm so decided to continue with that - firing off 250 shots. To my dismay when I got the files into my poor pc it was apparent that a ton of them were out of focus, but not the ones at the beginning. My theory is that the cable for the lens warmer was gently tugging on it and gradually dragging the focus ring with it! Actually gave an… interesting effect, will have to revisit this spot and try again sometimem!

Stars melting into the sky.

Kind of messed up when I exported this, hence the rather poo quality, haha.

Got some new kit recently so I am currently going through the fun stage of testing it all out ! I ha

Got some new kit recently so I am currently going through the fun stage of testing it all out ! I haven’t really had a chance to go anywhere interesting as of yet, so I’ve just been photographing stuff around the house and in my backyard, haha.

I thought I would test the new wide angle lens out with some star trails. I realllllly should have taken more photographs for it, but I got a bit impatient, haha.
