#stay close to me

LIVE

Listen to “Stay Close To Me” before listening to “Duetto.” Sounds simple enough, right? Well, get ready for some feels.

Listen to how the masculine vocalist in “Stay Close To Me” is practically wailing for the love of his life to “stay close to” him. This powerful voice is present throughout the entirety of this mesmerizing piece, allowing you to truly feel the love that is being so desperately yearned for.

Now, listen to “Duetto.”

The differences between “Stay Close To Me” and “Duetto” aren’t entirely apparent at first, but if you train your ears enough into memorizing these two pieces, you can hear a slight difference even from the beginning. For one thing, the music itself is softer, and rather than starting of the piece on a strong vocal note, the masculine vocalist sounds slightly softer as well, as if beckoning, not pining.

And then, of course, the feminine vocalist comes in.

It is without a doubt that these vocalists boast a power that can only be matched by fellow operatic singers, but they choose to keep their voices low, soft, whispering–because they’ve found each other. They’ve finally found each other and they are close enough that they do not have to belt out their feelings any longer.

Bonus: If listening to both of these pieces takes too much time, just listen to the difference of the two endings. That alone should be enough to make your heart swell.
