Time for a little sweet silliness, with this unusual and greatly amusing submission from a reader! Sadly their names are lost in time, though I perhaps detect a hint of family resemblance (particularly around the eyes), and would hazard a guess they are all linked by blood not friendship alone.
The picture was taken in Brașov, Romania (known as Kronstadt in German and Brasso in Hungarian)

A set of three studio portraits for this affectionate pair, photographed in the early years of the 20th century - it is always a pleasure to find the same faces in multiple shots; three even more unusual than two!

A truly heartwarming and intimate portrait of two affectionate men, by studio photographer Tobias Luck, active in Oshkosh, Wisconsin from 1888 to 1920.

An utterly charming little signed photograph, one lighting his own cigarette from that held in the other’s hand - I wonder which was the ever sincere Ernest, perhaps the chap on the right as the writing is aligned to fill only his half of the print. James Craik was a prolific photographer in Kent from the 1870s on into the early 1900s, all known details and some more lovely examples of his work can be found here.

Seriousness and a detached gaze into the middle distance are the order of the day in this smart double portrait from the 1890s.

Three affectionate gentlemen, arms interlinked and hand-tinted pink to their cheeks, in a charming embossed paper mount. 

A touching affection between sitters is always a pleasant thing to behold, all the more so when you notice the quite remarkable intimacy of their pose, legs interlinked and a hand upon the knee.

A fantastic studio portrait of two handsome fellows, seated on an equally admirable wickerwork chair. Love the jaunty angle of that hat!

Such a sweet scene from 1890s Nebraska! Unsually for this era, the photographer was female, one Mrs Mary Jane Wyatt - a brief biography of her life can be read in thisarticle.

An adorable little snipped and mounted 1870s portrait of two dapper young chaps, sharing a tiny stool - I wonder how long it took them to squeeze and shuffle into place, and suspect the embrace is as much to keep them together on the seat as it is to show off their dear affection!
