“Hey Liv, I think you got a visitor,” Elliot said as he waved at you. Olivia looked up from the DD5 she was filling out and turned to see you walking over towards her. You were holding a coat and an umbrella in your arms. The coat was Olivia’s, but the umbrella was yours, but you’d left it at her apartment the last time you’d been over. “Y/n, long time no see.”

“Hi Elliot,” you said with a polite smile. Olivia got up from her desk and walked you away from the other detectives. She didn’t say anything to you at first, instead just giving you a quick kiss on the lips and letting you pull her in for a hug. “So, you left these and it’s gonna be really cold and raining later tonight. I figured you’d be working late again, so I was just gonna go home if that’s okay.”

“Yeah, that’s fine. Are you going in soon?” Olivia asked you. You nodded and she glanced over at the other detectives. They were just around the corner and pretending not to be watching the two of you. “Who do you have this time?”

“Petrovsky,” you told Olivia. She took the coat and umbrella from you and then leaned in to give you a kiss goodbye. “I’ll give you a call when I’m out for lunch or recess.”

“And when you’re done, maybe we can get dinner together. I know a great hot dog cart,” Olivia joked. You nodded and walked out of the precinct. You called Olivia on your lunch, when the trial ended, and when you were done getting everything organized for the judge. She didn’t end up calling you back, so you took a taxi back to your place. About three blocks before your apartment building, you saw Olivia walking along the sidewalk, so you cut your ride short, paid the driver, and got out to walk with her.

“Liv, wait up!” you called out after her. Olivia stopped and you ran up to get under the umbrella. “Why are you walking to my place?”

“Cragen sent me home after finding out what time I came in and told me to take a nap. I couldn’t sleep and got bored, so I decided to take a walk,” Olivia told you. The two of you walked up to your apartment building together, took a shower, changed into dry and comfortable clothes, and then laid down on your couch with a couple bowls of cereal and some sodas.

“Why don’t you kiss me in front of the other detectives?” you asked Olivia and she shrugged.

“Privacy I guess. I mean, would you kiss me in the courthouse?” Olivia asked and you gave her a look. “Let me rephrase, would you kiss me in front of one of the judges.”

“Depends on the judge and the kind of kiss,” you told her. Olivia decided that was fair and wrapped her arm around you a little tighter. “You’re not ashamed of me though, right?”

“Never, you’re the best thing to happen to me,” Olivia told you. You smiled and kissed Olivia’s cheek.

“I love you.”

“I love you too. Even if you did take the last of the good cereal.”

Lawyer bars sucked. You’d told Elizabeth this several times, but she still insisted on taking you to them. Tonight, she was running a bit late and so you were waiting there by yourself. At least, you wished that you were alone and that a group of defense attorneys weren’t staring at you and taking turns trying to get your attention. Not only were they not your type, but they’d also probably have heart attacks when they saw who you were definitely going home with for the night.

“You look familiar,” one of the guys said. It seemed he was the courageous one of his group, the first to come over. “You clerk for anybody?”

“I don’t have anything to do with law,” you told him. He hummed as he tried to think of where he’d seen you before. “If you don’t mind, I’m waiting for my partner sir. I really think you should leave me alone.”

“If you’re waiting for someone here, you definitely do have something to do with law. The question is, if you’re smart enough to know who has the big bucks. You look like a little lady who could use someone to take care of her,” he said and you scoffed.

“Trust me, I’m well taken care of,” you said and he leaned in towards you. Before he could say whatever stupid comment he’d been planning on, Liz pulled you away from him. You turned to smile at her as you greeted her, “Hi honey.”

“Is this man bothering you?” Liz asked as her arm circled around your waist. He backed away from the two of you, muttering under his breath. “How long was that going on?”

“Pretty much the whole time. First guy to come down here though,” you said as Liz glanced over at his group. She had a smug look on her face as she pushed hair away from your neck before pressing a kiss to your jaw. “If you wanted to kiss me and drink, we could have done this at home.”

“Sometimes, it’s easier to have someone else make your drinks for you,” Liz reasoned. The two of you stayed in the bar for about an hour longer before you were practically begging her to take you home. You really did hate the bar and it seemed that anytime Liz was away from you, one of those defense lawyers was trying to “sweet talk” you into going with them. Eventually, Liz got fed up with having to get in between you and those guys, who would definitely not like her the next time they had her in court.

It wasn’t that difficult to find Amanda’s vehicle in the parking lot. You doubted that a lot of New Yorkers drove trucks. Even though she’d picked up everything and left Atlanta, she hadn’t completely changed. Although, if she had, you wouldn’t have gotten the invite to come up and stay with her for awhile. You knew that Kim’s surprise visit was disastrous, but you’d really been working hard to get better. You texted Amanda to let her know that you were outside waiting by her truck, but you didn’t expect her to tell you to come in.

“Excuse me, I’m looking for Amanda Rollins?” you said to the officer working the front desk. He pointed you towards the elevator and told you to find her floor. You looked for the button labelled SVU and remembered to press it once you got inside. You were nervous to see Amanda after so long, maybe she wasn’t even interested in you anymore. You stepped out of the elevator and as you started walking down a hallway, you felt someone grab your arm. For a moment, you were scared, but then they pulled you into a hug.

“God, I almost didn’t recognize you,” Amanda said as she pulled away. You smiled at her and shrugged. “You’re looking good. How are things down south?”

“Keepin’ my head outta trouble, I swear,” you promised her. “Everythin’s all legal now.”

“What do you mean everything’s legal now?” Amanda asked you as she crossed her arms across her chest. “Your head is out of trouble, out of trouble, right?”

“Yeah, but there ain’t a lot of work for convicted felons. So, I found a club, I’m just dancing, I swear.” Amanda sighed and you immediately felt bad. “Let me talk to my boss and then we can head out for lunch. I’ll take you to my apartment, that all you brought?”

“Yeah, guess there wasn’t a lot of use keepin’ my stuff around if everyone thought I was gonna rot in jail,” you joked and Amanda frowned at you. She left to talk to her captain and then she came back with her jacket. “How long do we have?”

“Until they call me in for something.” Amanda grabbed your hand and tugged you into the elevator. “Kim talking to you still?”

“No, um, part of my rehabilitation was cutting ties with people who weren’t going to be healthy in my new life,” you said and Amanda nodded. She obviously agreed, having been the first person to tell you not to hang around her little sister. It was hard though, especially whenever Amanda had gone off to college. You hadn’t been good at making friends, Kim was closer to your age anyways, and she was more than okay with letting you tag along to parties and whatnot. It’d been a quick and slippery slope, one that nobody could have stopped you from going down if they tried.

“Here ya go,” Amanda said as she opened the passenger’s side door for you. You set your bag in the backseat and then sat down. It was quiet for the most part as Amanda drove around looking for a restaurant. For a moment, it felt like you were back in Georgia with her and the two of you were hanging out after school. “Whatcha thinkin’ about?”

“When we used to hang out after school. It was fun, I was so innocent back then,” you said absentmindedly. Amanda frowned and sighed, guilt starting to nag at her for your life having circled the drain. “It ain’t your fault ‘Manda. If anything, I should be thanking you. I mean, the last thing you do before you leave is get me set on the right path.”

“A path you’d have been on if I hadn’t just abandoned you.” Amanda’s hands tightened around her steering wheel and you turned to face her. You reached over and placed your hand on Amanda’s leg. “I don’t think this is a good idea. What happens when you go back, huh?”

“I dance for money and you solve sex crimes,” you said nonchalantly. Amanda glanced down at your hand as she came up to a red light. “I’ll be here for a week, I think that we should make the most of it. Who knows when I’ll have more free time or my parole officer will be in such a good mood.”

“Yeah, we should make the most of it,” Amanda agreed. She surprised you when she leaned over and pressed a kiss to your cheek. You blushed a little before deciding to take the plunge and just kiss her. Amanda kissed you back, but not for too long since the light changed. “I can’t tell you how long I’ve been waiting to do that.”

“I have a feeling I can, actually,” you chuckled. Amanda let you hold one of her hands and during that lunch, you felt like you’d finally done right by her for the first time in forever. Amanda dropped you off at her apartment, went back to work, and you managed to make a meal out of the frankly odd ingredients in her kitchen.

Prompt #14 ~ Kiss on the neck

image

The bedroom is dark when you wake up, a slight breeze rustling the curtains over your open window, the sounds of New York outside. You yawn, stretching your arm over to the other side of the bed, disappointed but not surprised to find it cold and unslept in. Rafael had been working non stop on his case, one that was taking all of his time and energy. He’d been pulling all nighters, coming home at ridiculously late hours, only to hole himself up in his home office until morning.

You run your fingers through your hair as you sit up, letting the sheets pool around your hips, goosebumps prickling over your skin in the cool night air. You frown, loneliness creeping up on you despite your boyfriend only being two doors down. You had all the patience in the world for his work, for everything that he poured into his cases, the time and the effort, but you couldn’t help missing him.

Pulling back the covers you slip out of bed, grabbing one of Rafael’s button ups from the laundry hamper in the corner, wrapping it around your body as you left the bedroom. His office door wasn’t closed the whole way, a sliver of light peeking out into the dark hallway. You tap your knuckles on the door before pushing it open, smiling softly as your boyfriend looks up from his desk, his glasses perched on the end of his nose. There’s a sea of papers surrounding him, stacks of folders on the desk. He looks exhausted, the usual light in his face dim.
“Mi Amor,” He greets you, putting the papers down as you come around behind him, wrapping your arms over his shoulders as he leans back in the chair. “What are you doing up so late?”
“I miss you,” You reply, pressing your lips against the side of his neck, hints of his cologne still lingering on his skin.

Rafael sighs, weaving his fingers through yours, giving them the lightest squeeze. He pushes out his chair a little, pulling you down onto his lap, your arms going around his neck as his wind around your waist.
“I’m sorry, it’s just this case, it’s -”
“You don’t have to explain yourself Rafa, I know,” You rest your head on his shoulder, smiling as you feel his lips on the top of your head. “But how about for the rest of the night you come to bed, you cuddle your girlfriend and recharge. You’re exhausted and all this work will still be there for you in the morning.”
“Hmm, that does round really nice actually.”

Standing back up you pull Rafael to his feet, keeping your hands locked together as you lead him back towards the bedroom, glad that at least for tonight you’ll have him back in your arms.

*This was the first time I’ve written anything for Rafael so please be kind, come and tell me what you thought or feel free to send me a request from the prompt list tagged above *
