It wasn’t easy being in a relationship with an idol. You knew that. Taeyang warned you, your family warned you, his bandmates warned you, but you were stubborn and positive that you would never find anyone like Taeyang ever again. You were determined to not lose your shot at it. 

Maybe that’s why you ignored the missed dates when he would come back with a bruised neck and lipstick stained collar, the excuse of practice running late rolling off his tongue in well-practised waves. Perhaps it’s why you believed the texts he got from women thanking him for a good time were just rookies he was helping out when he had free time. Possibly, that’s why when he missed your birthday, anniversary, his own birthday you excused it. This was your one shot with him. 

You couldn’t pretend anymore. Not when your daughter was sat on your hip, asleep from how hard she had cried on the way home, due to the fact that her own father missed her recital. It was her first since he had signed her up for ballet. All of the other members came, each with their own bouquets for your baby. The other eight members showed up and yet her own father couldn’t be bothered. 

All of your texts were ignored, each call rejected after three rings. It wasn’t that he couldn’t come; it was just that he was preoccupied. You figured that is what hurt the most- someone else had taken priority over your small family, and that was just unacceptable. Your child didn’t deserve that. She deserved a father that would be there any time she wanted or needed. The optimistic side knows she has eight uncles that are willing to die for her, but the more realistic side of you knows that will never fill the hole her father left. 

Perhaps that’s why you passed your sleeping daughter off to Youngbin with a small, forced smile. He promised to keep her safe, even if you were only going to be gone for a few hours. Just enough time to end things with Taeyang and come back to the dorm where their manager promised to help you find a place to stay for a few nights. Your daughter left, wrapped tight in Youngbin’s arms. Inseong gave you a ride to your apartment and parked the car. You lead him on the path to the apartment you were leaving and unlocked the door, not even paying mind to the moans you heard from the bedroom- your bedroom. 

Your baby’s room was first and you packed all of her essentials before handing the bags to Inseong, silently pleading for him to leave the room so you could deal with Taeyang by yourself. He obeyed and soon you were standing in the doorway, watching the man you loved plow into a woman you had never seen before. At least there was that. 

You said nothing, immediately going to the closet and packing your clothes without a care for your noise. The moaning stopped, being replaced with curses and a panicked “I didn’t know you were seeing anyone!” You turned to her, eyes devoid of emotion as you zipped up your bag. You smiled slightly. 

“He isn’t anymore. You’re welcome to have him.” Taeyang sputtered behind you but you couldn’t be bothered to care, not anymore. You left the apartment, your key placed on the table as Taeyang tried his best to follow you. He voiced complaints and begged you to stay, feeding you lie after lie. You ignored all of them, just like he ignored you. Your bag was placed in the backseat of Inseong’s car and you opened the passenger side door, slipping in it before Taeyang could stop you. You locked them just as he tried to pull it open. You stared at him through the window, watching as he gulped, witnessing the tears stream down his cheeks. 

“What about us? What about Nari?” The muffled questions made you scoff. 

“There is no us, there hasn’t been for a while. We’ll let the court decide about my daughter.” You saw Taeyang flinch back from your words and you found yourself wishing the plane of glass wasn’t there so he could get the full effect of your words. You took your gaze off of him and Inseong pulled out of the parking spot. And then you drove off, watching the figure of Taeyang grow smaller in the rearview mirror. 

It wasn’t easy being in a relationship with an idol. Thankfully, you weren’t in one anymore.

Taeyang was a great dancer, there was no doubt about that. That’s when he told you he got scouted to be in a dance duet with Lisa from BlackPink you weren’t surprised. Both of them were wonderful dancers, portraying art with their bodies in ways others could only dream of doing. That didn’t mean you were particularly excited about it. 

Lisa was… Lisa. She was beautiful, she was talented, she was a fucking genius. (She knew three languages for christ’s sake.) She was everything you wanted to be. That’s why you were never sure when Taeyang came home. And it’s not his fault. You trusted him with your life, he never gave you a reason not to. He loved you and he made it quite obvious. But that doesn’t mean you didn’t have your worries. 

You decided to bring it up over dinner one night. The food on your plate was growing cold, just like you could feel yourself do. Goosebumps grew on your arms and you weren’t sure if was due to the house being chilly or not. It was now or never, you thought to yourself, and opened your mouth to speak. 

“Tae, can I ask you something?”

He looked up, a stray noodle falling from his mouth back down to his plate. You giggled quietly, making his cheeks flush pink in embarrassment. 

“Yes, love?”

You bit your lip slightly, eyes downcast. 

“Lisa… she’s pretty right?”

Taeyang tilted his head slightly in confusing before shrugging slightly. 

“I guess, she’s not really my type though.”

You nodded like you understood, but in all honesty, your heart dropped. If Lisa wasn’t his type, then you definitely weren’t. 

“Baby. Look at me.”

His voice shook you out of your thoughts and you looked up at him. There was a smirk playing at his lips that soon widened into a grin. 

“You’re my type. I like you. No one else compares to you, not to me. So stop silently brooding because you’ll get wrinkles if you get frowning like that.”

You laughed, eyes looking down again but this time due to the fact that you were too embarrassed at the fact that you got caught. 

“I love you, Tae.”

“I love you too, love.”
