Over the years, I have received backlash from a few photos I have posted of me holding various firearms. I am a gun owner. I enjoy shooting for sport and I enjoy hunting. I own several firearms including automatic weapons. All of my children know how to safely fire a gun. None of them have participated in mass murders or school shootings. If I wanted, I could easily obtain a firearm off the street. I choose to go through the proper legal channels. Why? Because I am a law abiding citizen. I don’t go on shooting sprees. Why? Because I am a mentally stable (although some would argue) individual. After every mass shooting, the media, the protestors and the anit-gun population want to push laws and regulations. You do realize these regulations and laws do not deter the criminal and psychologically unstable population correct? They are not going to turn in their weapons all of a sudden. They are not going to stop selling them on the black market. The laws and regulations are going to interfere with MY rights…a sane law abiding individual. I have had a gun pulled on me. Did I blame the gun? No, I blamed the individual holding the gun. Have I had family or friends murdered at the hands of a criminal holding a gun? Yes. We need to look at the criminal and mental element to the mass shootings, not more gun control. It seems so simple to me. I will continue to post photos with a gun in my hand. I will continue to shoot my AR for fun. I will continue to hunt. If I lose support based on that then you’re not my people. If you continue to stay regardless of where I stand, thank you. We can agree to disagree and still be friends.
