I have been tagged for both WIP Wednesday and Six Sentence Sunday as of late by @martsonmars,@you-remind-me-of-the-babe,@cutestkilla, and @ileadacharmedlife. However, moving houses has left very little time for me to sit down and properly write anything. Instead, I humbly present Fic Rec Tuesday.
Why Tuesday? A friend of mine in high school (who’s now one of my longest-time mutuals here) famously hated Tuesdays. So much so that whenever I’d remind my friend that it was Tuesday, they would declare loudly, “I HATE TUESDAYS!” Their reason was that Tuesday feels like a second Monday, wisdom which I have carried forward with me to today.
In that spirit, and in the spirit of brightening up your week (by the way, how are we feeling about the banner? too much sunshine? too hard to read?), here are some fics that I recommend for your reading pleasure:
The Mirrors That Hold Usby@artsyunderstudy. (Explicit, 6/8 chapters) Currently the highlight of my Fridays. If you, like me, hesitate when you see the Major Character Death archive warning, set that hesitation to the side. This is one of the best angst fics I have read in a long time, with an intriguing mystery to boot. I know this is one that I will read time and time again.
5 Days, 5 Nights, All Inclusive by RooBadley. (Teen, complete) Post-canon by 10-12 years. Simon has to run that Magickal Singles Tour of Britain that Penny mentions in Carry On. Baz is on said tour. You can probably imagine how this goes (very poorly, then very well). I laughed so hard reading this one.
Blood & Marble by tealbrigade (General, complete). AU. Baz is a art conservator working on a peculiar statue that’s part of a recently acquired collection. Almost like that statue is alive…Best word to describe this fic is poignant.
Shiverby@captain-araliasand@facewithoutheart. (Mature, complete) Eighth year of Watford. Simon and Baz end up stranded in a cave while on a class trip, and they have to search for alternate methods to keep warm. Very funny and, er, heartwarming.
@fanmoose12 is truly a gem to the levihan community. Do I need to say more? I actually joined Tumblr because of her. I was kinda new to the levihan fandom and I remember stumbling on her fics. They were so good that I even requested a few ideas and omg she delivered!
Any Personal Experience?
Fanmoose helped me when I started writing fics. I remember being so scared to dm her, but she was so sweet and encouraging. I have even talked to her outside of Tumblr and she is literally the best. Watching her and Ren (her spouse) interact is so cute and hilarious. Overall, she is a fun person to be around.
Fake. Dating. It is so good! The Ackerman family, the banter, fluff, ANGST! Basically, Levi’s family is trying to set him up, but he decided hire Hange to fake date him after finding an ad on Craigslist. I highly recommend this one!
Okay so I remember reading it when it first came out, but then I stopped because I was caught up and life happened. I honestly liked the concept of it. So Hange is trying to catch and arrest the Ackermans but then she meets Levi. She does not know that he is an Ackerman but I think Levi knew who she was. I need to catch up on it but it is a good read!
Okay so this one was actually requested by me a loooong time ago. I am a sucker for Disney au’s and this one is a Cinderella one. Fun fact, Fanmoose also did a Beauty and the Beast one and it was so good! Anyways, the whole story is cheesy and cute. The ending is the best part!
