i’ve only glanced at OTNWAS, i don’t know if i will ever fully read it, but these animatics are absolutely,,, yes. they are absolutely yes all around. excuse my language but it’s fucking phenomenal
Jack’s expressions and body language, the way the camera moves with his walk, it’s akin to a professional storyboard for a real film. the animation is simple and efficient but it’s incredibly satisfying to watch and it inspires me with just pure creative and passionate energy. i know if you had some really gifted VAs it would fuckin bring this to life
also i must add how in character this feels, especially for Jack. he’s the fun guardian but he knows when to stop goofing around especially when it comes to the people he cares about. also his hair is drawn super well it is very hard to get the spikiness down and for me being used to flow and curls it takes a lot of practice and doing a whole ass animatic where you have to draw that shit like 11 times is super impressive

Kaiba leaned against the doorframe, his suit jacket thrown over his arm. Drifting up the darkened stairs came the faint sounds of Honda’s parents watching TV in the living room, the drone of nightly news, his father bothering his mother to change the channel: a thirty-year battle drawn along cozy, comfortable lines. Hey, the most powerful man in Domino and probably Japan and also Asia is coming over to look at my puppies, we went to school together - yes, Mom, the crazy one, but you can’t saythat to him, he’s just weird, weird and hardcore and really sad, remember my friend who died? that was his best friend so don’t, like - no, Dad, he doesn’t want to talk shop about the factory! just stay downstairs and act normal -
“Don’t just lurk in the hallway, man. Come in,” Honda said, waving him over.
Kaiba declined with a single swinging shake of his head, like the flicker of a candle flame when a hand passed over it.
“Dude, it’s puppies,” Honda said. “Look at them. They’re practically little baby stuffed animals.”
The puppies, a mass of stocky legs and fat bellies and deep, pleading eyes, were all crowded up at one side of the whelping box, tails wagging in erratic rhythm, begging their attention with a chaotic chorus of yips and yelps.
“‘Cute’ things don’t do much for me,” Kaiba said, with air-quotes.
“Oh, sure they don’t,” Honda scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Who cares if you don’t care? Puppies love you on sight, man. Target fucking locked. Even youcan’t escape this. Immovable Kaiba meets unstoppable fluff ball.”
