I have a really complex relationship with religion, but here’s something positive

[Text ID:

There is little I love more than religion

Religion is reflections humanity makes of itself

Nothing else shows how vast and bright and beautiful we all are

While at the same time showing that beneath every culture, difference, and complexity / we are all trying to answer the same questions

I love the all powerful and infallible

I love the many flawed

I love the company of collective experience and energy

I love past lives

I love clear cut lines

I love when it’s nebulous

I love the sun and the moon

The innocent and the horrid

The wise and the conflicted

I love lord after lord of weather

Patron after patron of arts

Mother after mother of witches

I love old gods breathing

I love old gods dead

I love old gods revived

I love religions sung

And danced

And written

I love humans called to destinies

I love ethical dualism and judgment

I love everything alive at its core

I love nonexistence and impermanence

I love the million ways the world ends

I love the passion

I love holidays turned commercial

I love private traditions between friends

I love spiritualities created by young girls on long car trips just noticing how green, present, and powerful the world is

A brunett of indeterminate gender with short hair wearing a dark paisley waistcoat over a white button up sits in front of a bookcase. They speak with a faint Eastern European accent.
“Ze difficult thing about being a vampire who is Deaf…is I cannot turn into a bat. Well, I can turn INTO a bat…”
A bat flies into a bookshelf with an audible *smack*.
There is a beat, and then back to the vampire.
“…echolocation is a little bit embarrassing.”

“In loving memory of Huw Davies. Used to sit there and shout ‘Fuck off!’ at the seagulls”

“Dedicated to Hayden Kays. Forever missed by his friends and family. He’s not dead yet. He’s just become increasingly anti-social. ”

“In loving memory of George Moriarty, who was too fond of the craic, the beer and the fat women. R.I.P.”

“Meriel, not Muriel! Meriel Pope 1960 - 2017. She loved Southwold, tally-ho!”

“In memory of Mavis Janky, non-charismatic and sort of sour-smelling”

“In memory of Roger Bucklesby, who hated this park and everyone in it”

“Jim Addison 1948 - 2013. I came back as a bench. If life seems jolly rotten, there’s something you’ve forgotten…”

“Dedicated to M.R Atkinson. 'Not dead, just likes plaques.’ August 2021”

“In memory of René Lauener 1916 - 1993, who liked to sit down”

“'Dirty old bar maids need love too.’ In loving memory of Pearl Dellinger 1920 - 2009”

Rare photos from trans history: Olympic runner and Zdeněk Koubek styles Cinda Glenn’s hair, 1936. Koubek was one of the first trans men to gain international fame after he transitioned in 1935.

ID: A photo of a newspaper snippet. A headline says “Here’s How I Used to Do It!” This is followed by a photo of a Zdeněk Koubek and Cinda Glenn. Both are smiling broadly as Cinda leans her head back to let Zdeněk style her hair. The photo is captioned: “An expert at women’s coiffures although not a hairdresser, Zdenek Koubek proves himself as he combs the locks of Cinda Glenn, New York night club beauty. Koubek knows all about coiffures from experience, since they were of concern to him when he was the foremost girl athlete of Czechoslovakia, prior to a sex-change.”
