LIVE

Palms Psalm embraces a chilled-out summer vibe on the splendor of “The Coast”. The production here has a flawless luxury to it. A communal quality comes through over the course of the entire journey. Much of this sense of togetherness emerges from the way that it wafts on up into the infinite sky. Vocals serve as the very focal point of the entire trip as there is a relaxed meditative quality to it, one that seems to emphasize a reflective sensibility. Lyricism further sells this idea as they seemingly direct the emotions, with each word chosen with the right degree of care. Beyond the clear nods to indie rock, they bring elements of jazz, R&B, and soul into the rather engrossing mix.

Elegant to a tee the song unfurls in a glorious way. Drums have a simplicity to them as first before they come into bloom. Guitar work glistens overhead. The rhythm section works in a casual way, making sure to have a degree of nimbleness to it. Inclusion of the samples further adds to the timelessness of the arrangement. Full of such energy there is a passion, a fire to the way that it all blends together to create vast fields of color. Towards the end of the song they let loose ever so slightly, as the twists and turns feel acutely earned.

“The Coast” shows off Palms Psalm ability to delve into a soothing, reassuring world one that embodies hope.
