She was pretty tired after swimming a bunch. She always follows me into the bathroom and ended up curling up on the bath mat while I was getting ready for bed.
We only have another week or two before this creek gets too gross for swimming and maybe a month before it’s bone dry. Enjoying it while we can.
Going through random photos and this one gave me a bit of a giggle though I’m pretty sure I had to intervene as tensions were building up between the two bitches. The red merle female was often controlling in any play and often targeted Aayla. Aayla is very clear here in how she felt about this female cutting them off. If memory serves me right this red Merle was barking with pretty stiff posture going into this. The blue merle male was a good playmate of Aayla for her first two years.
Aayla rarely finds a dog she can play well with now. She is fine with greeting almost any dog and I don’t have to worry about her in off leash walking scenarios. Stationary or confined play I do have to watch and intervene. I find she tends to ramp up while playing and often starts barking, startling other dogs (and their owners). If a dog is the submissive type and likes to roll over and they kick up at Aayla, Aayla will correct a dog that does that as she dislikes her belly being touched. So I’ve largely avoided Aayla playing without intervention with dogs for years now. I think it may be some calmer males that she has played the best with. Not that she doesn’t get a lot of dog social time. She interacts and hangs out loose with neighbor’s dogs, friend’s dogs, family’s dogs and so on. Yet play is another thing. I definitely consider her dog tolerant.
Whitney was shy and kept hiding in the clouds but those clouds made for a beautiful morning in Alabama Hills.
Flying floof
Due to a railcar repair issue the new tent is being delivered today…after our trip. So my 10 year old little tent got another adventure crammed in with two adults and a dog.
We all had a fantastic time even though we didn’t get to fly even though that’s the main reason we went out there. We did a huge hike, which I’m happy to say that Aayla’s elbows seem fine?! She is a little stiff in her hind end but all of us are and not in a bad way.
