They never do figure out exactly where they are. It’s a weird and somewhat scary place, there’s probably a dragon and a floating Beebo being eerie and scary things aplenty.
And then there’s a guy. Young man, jeans, t-shirt, quite friendly, offers to show them the way out. This is the Legends - he ends up accidentally recruited, fits in perfectly fine.
Even if he somehow never takes off his sunglasses.
