lizzie-saltzman:

make no mistake, all of these shows being cancelled is not because they were “doing bad in streaming” or “not profitable” its because the cw switched to conservative ownership and their ‘be better/do better for the lgbt+ community and poc’ campaign was quickly flushed down the toilet

bigassbowlingballhead:

I’m just having a hard time understanding why the CW would cancel shows like Roswell, New Mexico and Legacies which still have coherent plots but keep RIVERDALE where someone new has some new power ever week. and the Flash which has been BORING for the last 2 seasons.

ronthelibra:

Legacies, charmed, Roswell New Mexico, Dynasty, BatWoman, Dc’s Legends of Tomorrow, The 4400 and Naomi all canceled at the CW…

Meanwhile Riverdale is still in their Multiverse of madness era almost 7 season’s later and supernatural coming back after 15 seasons. Embarrassing

I hope this is them preparing to sell the network all together. That’s literally the only thing that makes sense. It’s already been proven that they haven’t been making money so they wouldn’t cancel without some kind of a plan.

fvckingguy:

Hehehe they are crucifying the CW on twitter.

MUSIC TO MY F*CKING EARS

Yall have been making fun of the crusty finale wig in Supernatural and the cheesy graphics in The Flash without realizing that the CW is just fucking broke.

If Supernatural was an HBO show…

  1. Dean would have been covered head to toe in tattoos.
  2. They would all curse like sailors
  3. Dean would get a sex scene every two episodes
  4. Destiel would have happened
  5. Eileen wouldn’t have been killed so quickly
  6. We would have seen an angel (probably Cas) in their true form (bigger budget = bigger events)
  7. Heaven would look more like a silver city rather than an office building.
  8. We would’ve had scary episodes even in later seasons (rather than just the first season being scary)
  9. Amara would have gotten a proper girlboss storyline
  10. The Leviathan season (7) would have been a lot cooler and actually effected the plot of later seasons in a critical way.
  11. Sam would have gotten better plotlines that actually had an ending.
  12. There would be a lot more diversity.

Jared Padalecki gives me “Socially liberal, fiscally conservative” vibes. In that fake-ally kinda way, or in the “I’m not racist! I have black friends!” kind of way.

Entertainment Spotlight: Hunter Clowdus

We sat down with Hunter Clowdus, who plays JJ on The CW’s All American, to chat about the making of the show. Hunter’s credits also include MTV’s Teen Wolf, TNT’s Rizzoli & Isles, and Netflix’s American Vandal, to name a few. Check it out:

How are you?

Hey!! I’m doing great! Super excited to dive into these questions, thank you for the opportunity.

How did you get to know JJ, and how did you make the character your own?

I feel grateful that I’ve been able to live with this character so long, as it has made getting to know him, his thoughts and mannerisms, infinitely easier. At first, I tried to make JJ “cool” but it wasn’t until I discovered that “cool” is when one leans into who they are. My “cool” is different than my friends. Owning that really helped me, not just in the show, but in my own life as well.

Who would you like to see JJ have more scenes with?

I just love the guys so much. Daniel, Michael, and Cody. We started this run together in 2018 on the pilot and I know when this show comes to an end I will forever miss them and our friendship on set. So I just hope we continue to play into that camaraderie which is natural and honest.

JJ wears some great outfits on All American. Have you “borrowed” any of his clothes and/or has JJ impacted your style at all?

Haha great question!! Yes JJ’s wardrobe is certainly fun and unique. That was really important to me from day one, and I have been fortunate to have a great relationship with our wardrobe department. It is quite the collaborative process and I’ve enjoyed piecing together certain color palettes when I know the scene has a certain type of energy. It’s the little things like that which can set shows, projects, and even actors apart. Attention to detail.

I’ve ever borrowed anything but my closet does have a few Beverly High shirts and hoodies in it :)

What’s the strangest thing that’s ever happened during one of your Twitch streams?

Ah TWITCH!! Honestly so glad you brought up this incredible platform. I go by the name KING CLOWDUS on Twitch, so feel free to stop by anytime.

Mine is honestly filled with some of the kindest souls you will ever meet. Just a couple streams ago I was dancing in circles to a new song that just came out and I slipped and completely fell to the ground where I then continued dancing haha!! It’s just a good time on there. We talk life, love, lessons…honestly, it’s like a little therapy sesh while also being incredibly entertaining. Seriously. Come check it out. You’ll be welcomed with open arms.

Thanks for taking the time, Hunter!

To all you SPN shitbeetles out there who waged campaigns against Jared’s ‘Walker’ before it even launched, with claims of copaganda and racism and working with the “nasty c/w”, you look like absolute fools right now.

(Yeah, I know, I know, but I promise I’ll post more entertaining fare in the weeks to come…)

How’s that “White Walker” campaign working out for ya? “They Silenced Us” and “BoycottTheCW”?

What clumsy tap dancing are you doing as we speak to excuse Jensen playing not one, but TWO cops? Or the fact that both he and Misha are once again, on the CW? Oh, and Misha… poor, poor, straight Misha. Who for literal yearsobfuscated his orientation so he could make like he was One Of Us, teasing Destiel and Cockles, and keeping his fandom gaggle on the hook to buy his Stands merch that pimps not only a queer ship, but Hellers, who are responsible for so much toxicity in the SPN fandom right now.

For the record, a Heller is someone who blindly ships Destiel and with increasing frequency Cockles, and actively attacks “w*” and Jared. Or jpeg or jarpiss or j*red or any number of code words they use because they like to talk garbage about people in public without repercussions. Wear the badge with this full knowledge that this is what it means.

And don’t even get me started on the cishet woman managing Stands, who puts her foot in her mouth on the regular, thinking she’s trying to be funny or edgy or whateverthefuck, to move merch that caters to queer fans.

Y'all are mad at Jared because he dared to say SPN wasn’t about romance. No, he didn’t do it artfully, but at least he doesn’t lie. Sometimes I do wish he’d be a little less honest and just say nothing, but oh well. I ain’t his mama.

There’s been nothing but good word coming out of Jared’s projects from the people working on them. He not only casts variety in his actors, but behind the scenes as well, in the crew and writers. He runs positive, successful companies that feature good work/life balances. He repeatedly asks for peace and calm in the fandom. He seems to be doing better managing his MHIs. He doesn’t puff up to suit his ego. And he’s not trying to milk the SPN cash cow dry and risk destroying established canon (such as it is). Jensen, bud, I love you but this is probably a mistake on a couple different fronts. It didn’t get off to a glowing start, but we shall see. I do like the New Orleans setting.

Anyway. Yeah, more ranting. I’ve ranted more this week than I have all year, but it’s been percolating in my brain for way too long, has now brewed to a lovely dark roast, and must be served. Also, I’m gonna be AFK for the weekend, tending to my mom’s garden and health, so if I don’t respond immediately, that’s why. It’s not because I don’t like you. Even tho, I may not like you. Or I may. It’ll be a gamble.

Xena and Gabrielle

Gather ‘round children.

Xena aired between 1995 and 2001.

In 1998 the show Ellen was canceled after the title character (and shortly after, Degeneres, herself) came out as gay.

The subtext (I hesitate to even call it that because it’s so blatant) in Xena was by no means a carrot on a stick for queer viewers. It was an acknowledgement of the show’s interpretation by queer fans from writers who gave us as explicitly queer an interpretation as possible while still keeping the show on the air. The cast and production crew were openly supportive of their LGBTQ+ fans and Lucy Lawless was an outspoken ally at a time when it could have seriously fucked up her career.

11 year old me watching it as it aired knew it was gay. I also knew that it would never be said within the show because that was the state of television then. In 2018 there’s no excuse for shows not to unambiguously state queer relationships on screen, so if a show doesn’t then we assume they’re leading LGBTQ+ viewers on. In 1995, subtext was a way writers could sneak representation past the morality police because there had to be plausible deniability if fragile straight people accused the studio of promoting homosexuality.

If Xena aired today it would seem like a huge cop out not to call it a romantic relationship within the show but I think we need to appreciate it for pushing the boundaries it did within the constraints of the time and not hold it to contemporary standards 17 years later.

TLDR: Context is key.

*I’ve gotten some shit polite disagreement about how this cartoon doesn’t meet the agreed upon definition of Queerbaiting, but I choose to think it counts when TV shows portray queer relationships in order to take advantage of the free social media hype that LGBTQ+ viewers give shows with representation and then dissolve the relationship or kill one of the characters once they have a boost in viewership.

It’s Friday and what should be a quiet afternoon is getting quite noisy.

-Legendary comic artist/writer Neal Adams passed away yesterday. Adams co-created Green Lantern John Stewart, Batman nemesis Ra’s-Al Ghul and Man-Bat.

He was also a strong advocate for creators rights and was one of the front leaders and secure credit recognition and pensions for Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

-BATWOMAN has fought her last battle on the CW. The show has been axed after 3 seasons.

There was more behind-the-scenes drama on the series than in front of the camera. S1 saw the departure of series star Ruby Rose. At the time of their leaving the show, Rose gave being allergic to the costume as the rationale for leaving. Last year, Rose admitted that they left the show due it being a “toxic workplace” alleging unsafe working conditions to led to their accident requiring surgery and being pressured to return to the show while still recovering. Rose also accused costar Dougray Scott, who played Batwoman’s father, of bullying women on set and detailed a run in with costar Camrus Johnson (Luke Fox/Batwing) who Rose says got on their case for returning to set late from a doctor’s appointment.

Scott disputes that he was abusive on set, WB-TV backed him up during their investigation and even said it was Rose who had multiple complaints lodged against them.

Johnson had this to say at the time.

Things were quiet after new star Javicia Leslie took up the cowl, but it was too late.

-Also gone is LEGENDS OF TOMORROW.

-Either the continuing Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard trial is taking up everyone’s attention or people don’t care about THE WALKING DEAD anymore. Melissa MacBride has existed the planned Carol and Darryl spinoff show.

Her team’s statement.

“Melissa McBride has given life to one of the most interesting, real, human and popular characters in The Walking Dead Universe. Unfortunately, she is no longer able to participate in the previously announced spinoff focused on the Daryl Dixon and Carol Peletier characters, which will be set and filmed in Europe this summer and premiere next year. Relocating to Europe became logistically untenable for Melissa at this time. We know fans will be disappointed by this news, but The Walking Dead Universe continues to grow and expand in interesting ways and we very much hope to see Carol again in the near future,” AMC said in a statement Wednesday.

For some reason fans have decided to blame Norman Reedus for her departure which lead Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Negan) to defend his pal.

Why must you all have Papa Winchester yell at you? You know a Winchester loves nothing more than to create Twitter drama (:: eyes Jared Padalecki::)

-Marvel gives a slight twist to their upcoming slap, swapping out dates for the CAPTAIN MARVEL sequel, THE MARVELS, for ANT-MAN & THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA.

THE MARVELS (with Tom Hiddleston’s rumoured fiancee, Zawe Ashton joining)

previously held a release date of Feb. 17, 2023 but is now moving to July 28, 2023.

ANT-MAN & THE WASP (with newcomer Jonathan Majors, late of LOKI)takes on the Feb. 17th slate.

-Someone who doesn’t have to worry about day and dates is director Jon Watts (SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME) who has exited the FANTASTIC FOUR reboot.

the cw having ass all money does explain a lot tho
