Just bought the third today, but if it’s even half as good as the first two then it should be an EXCELLENT, heartfelt, somewhat silly read.
“Monty wanted to kiss him. Would this be a bad time? Yes, he decides, it absolutely is. He knows Percy would push him off immediately, he would break his heart. But Percy is right there. So Monty loses his self control and decides that he’s just going to go for it. Then Percy kisses him.”
Percy decides to tell Monty something before he leaves for Holland, and Monty completely misinterprets it.
This is weird. Very weird. I should be satiated. The sex was fantastic, perfect even. That should be me sorted for another few months, until I get desperate enough to venture out and find another beautiful boy. Probably not as beautiful as Monty but… it will suffice. I should just sleep. I’ll make him a coffee in the morning. We won’t exchange numbers. I’ll probably never see him again. That’s how these things work.

“I said that she’s the most marketable superhero in the city right now, and I had sway over her before but now I know her civilian identity.” He still looks unconvinced so Sim lets out a sigh and relents. “And, I need to spend more time with her to confirm this, but I think she has ties to the Montagues.”
“Henry Montague,” he finally says into my hair, “I am never letting you out of my sight again.” He pulls away just enough to cradle my face in his hands, taking me in again. “You always come back missing pieces.”
“The leg isn’t missing. Just broken,” I correct. Percy’s laugh is watery. “Though I’m still not the most steady on it so…”
“Oh, Jesus, sorry.” Percy pulls away and helps me to the nearest trunk to sit on. He stands over me and kisses the top of my head, then leans his forehead against mine. “You have to tell me everything. Starting with what happened to your leg.”
I slide my arms around his waist, putting as little space between us as possible. “I will, I promise. There’s something else I want to talk to you about first, though.”
“Now?”
“Yes. It’s important.”
“Something more important than your broken leg?”
Finally reunited with Percy after his travels with Adrian, Monty has something to ask Percy and isn’t wasting any time.
Percy Newton is a fashion model, and he’s halfway to being a star. Monty is the photographer that can get him all of the way there, if he can just stop being such a prick about it.
The Montague children have an outstanding arrangement, every three months; no matter the weather, the circumstances, or trouble they’ve gotten themselves into: they coalesce in Monty and Percy’s dining room. They chose it to be the same day of the month so they’d all remember- the 24th. Today is September 24th- a few months shy five years since Adrian met his siblings to begin with.

I just finished Nobleman’s guide and….. GOD do I love adrian so fucking much. I adore the sibling dynamics and NEEDED to write something happy for these idiots.

The apocalypse could’ve worked out worse for Henry “Monty” Montague. In spite of the dramatic population decrease and the danger lurking at everyone’s doorstep in the form of murderous neon flowers that thrive in the night, the isolated city has a booming night life, with at its heart, the illegal street races. While everyone else cowers inside, these daredevils venture into the Wilderness for fame and glory. Monty’s been at the very top of the league for years, and he’s not planning on surrendering his title anytime soon. Especially not to some rude nobody in a rusty car.
Percy is trying to be subtle about not looking directly at Monty, and Monty is trying to be mature about that, and how that goes? Or on matters brushed aside, and taking them on headlong, with a heart in a throat.
Another take on their reunion scene, because how does one stop to think/feel about them?
Percy gently passed a ladybird from finger to finger, “Monty…” He whispered, looking at his best friend, “Where do you think bugs go when they die?” Monty scrunched up his nose, “How would I know? Probably heaven, like the rest of us.” Percy thought for a moment, his dark eyes following the creature, “There must be a lot of bugs in heaven.” Earlier the two had attempted to save a family of butterflies from the torment of Richard Peele and the other boys. They were too late. Butterfly wings laid torn and scattered in the dirt. The poor creatures themselves trod on and dying. The ladybird flew off, circling the boys before disappearing into the blinding sun. “Maybe they’re in hell then.”
I felt my entire body shake as his thumb ran against the scared grooves of my right cheek. I didn’t always like when he touched my scars. Some days any touch burned like fire. But as his eyes followed his thumb, so adorably focused and reverent as he rested a quick kiss to the edge of my cheek bone, my mind couldn’t seem to come up with a single negative reaction.
Or: Monty and his complicated relationship with touch.
