Hello Reverse Bangers,

THE FIRST CHECK-IN IS UPON US!

Kindly check your inbox (and the spam folder). There should be an email from a certain Nicky Smith sent on 23 March on the details and link to the check-in form, as well as samples of the progress submission.

If you still can’t find the email, do reach out to us as soon as possible!

If you have checked in, kudos to you!

If you haven’t, fret not, you have 3 more days!

Deadline for the first check in is on April 1st!

But Mods, what if I am not on track?

Don’t be discouraged! Check-in first! Please still submit the form by April 1st - there is an option to say you don’t feel like you’re on track. This is your chance to talk to us to discuss your situation.

Sometimes life gets in the way—we understand! We also want to do whatever we can to ensure every group completes the event. Let’s talk and see if we can work out a plan. We are here to help you and make this a great event for everyone!

If you need a reminder, Reverse Bang timeline is here!

We are looking forward to your submissions!

Remember, you’re doing great!

Keep up the good work!

The Claiming Time is Here! WRITERS, CHECK YOUR INBOX!

There should be an email from a familiar name containing all the claiming links! Check your spam folder if you can’t find it (cause your email might be fussy).

We would like all the claim forms to be submitted no later than March 6. Please submit your form as soon as you’ve made your decision, and contact us if you foresee any timing issues.

The claims are not first-come-first-served basis, but we do need them submitted before we can begin assigning groups.

Take the weekend to shift through the artworks and the artists’ prompts and DNW.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Happy claiming!

THE OLD GUARD REVERSE BANG 2022

Hello everyone! This year we’ve decided to kick off with a (reverse) bang!

We’re welcoming all artists, writers, betas, cheerleaders and pinch hitters to join in on the fun!

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Sign-ups are open now (January 29)!!! Artists will have from the Artist Sign-up deadline (February 15) until the Claim Submissions deadline (March 1) to come up with a concept for their art and submit it with a description, as well as some proof of work. Artists can decide whether or not to share the proof of work for claims, but mods at least will need to see some work so we can keep track of what’s going on! This proof can be a sketch, storyboard, thumbnail etc. just so long as the concept is locked in for claims.
  • TheWriter Sign-up deadline is March 1. Once Writer Claims open (March 4), the Writers will see the Artists’ submitted tags and description of the piece and will be able to claim them. Once every art piece has its Writer(s), the mods will connect everyone to their respective partner(s) and the collaboration will begin!
  • The minimum word count is 7,500 words, and the minimum artwork requirement is 1 art piece. However, there is definitely no maximum, so if you want to write or create more than that - go nuts! The more content the better!
  • Every work will be finished and ready to post by July 1 2022, so the postings are centered around TOG’s two-year anniversary!

If you have any questions and/or would like to sign up, all the relevant links are below. Let’s have some fun!!!

What is a reverse bang?

A reverse bang is an event for both writers and artists in which pairs (or groups!) of Writers and Artists collaborate to create illustrated pieces of fiction that everyone can enjoy together!

Artists, this is your time to shine! Instead of Artists creating pieces based on Writers’ fics, a reverse bang is the other way around! Artists will create a minimum of one art piece, and then the Writers will have the chance to choose a piece to base a fic on.

How do I sign up?

Can I sign up to be both an Artist and Writer?

If you believe that you can handle pulling double duty, go for it! You’ll just have to fill out the sign-up sheet twice: once as an Artist and once as a Writer.

Can I submit more than one piece of art to be a prompt?

Yes, if you think you can handle working on both projects at the same time! When it comes to submitting work for claiming, you’ll just need to submit each piece separately.

I don’t want to be an Artist or a Writer, can I still help out in some way?

Yes! On the sign-up sheet there is an option to volunteer for various support roles such as Beta or Pinch-Hitter.

How do Artist Submissions work?

Before the submission deadline (March 1), artists must submit a form for each separate work they intend to create. (Form to be provided later.) You will be asked to fill out some information on your work, such as medium, characters portrayed, and basic description. You also must provide some proof of work-in-progress - a rough sketch, a thumbnail, etc. - to show you have the concept locked in. You can decide whether or not to make this proof of work available to Writers for claims.

How do Writer Claims work?

Once the art claim submission forms have been completed and handed in by the Artists, Writers will have a few days to browse through said submissions and decide which one(s) they would like to submit a claim for. Submissions may include a sketch or draft, or they may simply be a text description (it’s up to the artist).

OnMarch 4, Writer Claims will open, and Writers will fill out the Writer Claims form with their desired claim(s) in descending order of preference. Once all Writers Claims are submitted, the mods will go through them all and match everyone up accordingly. Of course, we can’t guarantee that everyone will get their first choice, but we promise to do our very best to compose the most satisfying match-ups that we can.

We anticipate having more writers sign up than artists. If this happens, we will try to assign more than one writer for some artists so that everyone can participate. The artist would still only need to create one artwork, and the writers would not need to work together. This will only happen if the artist and writers have all opted-in during sign-up.

What if I need more time?

Exceptions and extensions can always be made, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

What if I need to drop out?

We completely understand! Your mods are here to help, and a pinch hitter will be assigned accordingly.

What if I haven’t finished the fic for posting?

On a case-by-case basis, your mods will work through it with you!

Do you have a Discord?

Yes! Here is thelink, all mods are present and there are specific channels and roles for the event!

Other Questions?

If you have any questions that we didn’t list here or just want clarification on something, please don’t hesitate to shoot us an ask, a DM or an email!! We’re here for youto make this event as much fun as possible!

The following rules apply:

  • Email will be our primary mode of communication with participants, so you must sign up with a working email address. For privacy reasons, only the mods and your assigned Artist/Writer etc. will have access to your email address.
  • If you would like to create NSFW content, whether you’re an Artist or a Writer, you mustbe18 or older.
  • Participants should not be appropriating work made by other members of the TOG fandom community (eg. using other TOG fanart in a moodboard.) without their permission.
  • No discrimination, bigotry, rudeness etc. will be tolerated.

All are welcome to participate, let’s have some fun!
