Being Adam Parrish was a complicated thing, a wonder of muscles and organs, synapses and nerves. He was a miracle of moving parts, a study in survival. The most important thing to Adam Parrish, though, had always been free will, the ability to be his own master. This was the important thing. It had always been the important thing. This was what it was to be Adam.

These hardcover art boxes are long gone, but folks have been asking if there’s a paperback box set in the works from Scholastic. The answer is: not that I know of at this time. I might, however, be persuaded to do a run of paperback sized TRC art boxes using what I learned from the hardcover art box Kickstarter (i.e., I would just ship them myself). If you’d back a pb TRC art box Kickstarter, please like or reblog so I can get an idea of headcount.
The 2021 Raven Cycle Reverse Big Bang has come to a close!
This year we did a Reverse Big Bang, where the artists submitted their artwork first and the writers wrote fics based on that art. We had twenty-seven great pieces of art and twenty-eight great fics!

Teaser: Gansey is dead. Maybe. No, he is dead, that’s for sure. Is his death final? Well, that is a whole different question. Waking up in a wasteland, Gansey is offered the opportunity of his life – or his death: to finally find Glendower. If things seem too good to be true, it is probably because they are, and it will be up to Blue to save the day and the man she loves or lose him once and for all.
Teaser: When Richard Campbell Gansey III walks out of the woods and quite literally runs into the Barns, he’s taken not only by the expansive and whimsical farm, but by it’s two reclusive occupants, Ronan Lynch and Adam Parrish. Year after year after year, Gansey returns to the farm, and it’s not just the Barns he comes to love.
Teaser: What did normal people do when they were dying? Kids went to Disney and had the cast of Sesame Street visit them in the hospital, teenagers met pop stars and pro athletes, adults took big vacations and blogged about what it was like to be dying. Ronan wanted magical things, like keeping Matthew alive and bringing Noah back and having had Glendower be alive when Gansey had lifted his helmet, but magic was the thing that was killing him.“I want you all to live with me,” he said, ignoring Blue’s confused expression, “at the Barns.”—The nightwash is killing Ronan, and he just wants to keep everyone close while they race to save him.
Teaser: Declan kisses her fiercely, holding her tight against him and pressing into her with love and desperation. She kisses back, drinking it in, pulling from him everything that she can: the feeling, the immediacy, the passion, home, future, hope. When they separate, their cheeks are wet.“How long?” Jordan asks him. “Seven weeks,” he says, running his hands over her shoulders. He pulls her back in closer, holding her tight. “We buried you seven weeks ago, and now I’m bringing you back.”
Teaser: “Is it dreamt?” Ronan asks. Adam is better than him at identifying the leftover dreamt objects. He can feel dream energy in a way that Ronan can’t. Adam shakes his head. Relief washes over Ronan. He had loved his father very much, but there was something strangely comforting about a story untouched by his father’s wild imagination. “Good. It doesn’t have some fucked up ending then.”
Teaser: Adam’s hand reached towards him, his eyes crossing and uncrossing and shifting without his approval, and stumbled forward a few steps before falling to his knees.“ Ronan,” he gasped. “What have you done? "His chest felt torn open, his hands were shaking, fighting against Cabeswater, who owned him. In his head, he heard Gansey’s voice from the night he had sacrificed himself, "Why? Was I so awful?” No, not like this.- What if Cabeswater was not the benevolent forest we know, but a darker version? A version brought to life with all of Ronan’s self-loathing, a version that turns quickly against its creator. When Ronan is trapped dreaming in Cabeswater, Adam must come to his aid. The battle to get out alive is harrowing, both physically and psychologically, and brings them closer together than ever before.
Teaser: “When the nightwash started pouring and wouldn’t stop, Matthew cried for their sleeping mother. Ronan cried for God. Declan Lynch called for the only person he’d ever known whose power might have exceeded his father’s.He called for a magician.” Adam Parrish can play with time. He can also play with fire, and water, and lightning, and hearts. Ronan Lynch can’t do much, not with the nightwash that clogs his lungs. So when he stumbles into Adam at a Fairy Market, he catches a glimpse of a hopeful future, one told in tarot cards and palmistry, told in crooked smiles and warm hands. But after the first secrets start spilling like black dripping down a nose, Ronan and Adam will learn that the future is not gifted, it’s forged.
Teaser: Adam was looking forward to his year of fieldwork in Ireland. He had a small cottage to himself, a job rehabilitating seals at the Wildlife Rescue, and time and space to conduct his own research. What he definitely hadn’t signed up for was babysitting the mysterious man who never seemed to leave the beach. Who was Ronan Lynch, anyways? What exactly was his obsession with the seals? And why did his sharp grin make Adam feel like he had been struck by lightning? The sea harbors many secrets, Adam Parrish.
Teaser: The Lynch family are selkies who have lost their pelts. Adam Parrish is a marine biologist just trying to collect some samples and stop hooligans (read: Ronan Lynch) from harassing seals (read: getting his brother to do homework). But maybe he can help their search too. aka a selkie au for the 2021 TRC big bang!
Teaser: You will not die, the voice from the trees says, but the line can’t give you something for nothing. A thief has taken too much. There must be a sacrifice. Tell us what you will give.Gansey knows he’s too far gone to talk, knows he’s barely holding on to consciousness from hornet sting after hornet sting, but he doesn’t have to think hard about what he wants to give up.My youth, he thinks, as loudly as he can, and he hopes it’s enough.Gansey’s heart stops.And then it restarts.
Teaser: “You would be here if you thought you could be.” Declan became still. Adam could only see a shadow of his profile, the rest of his face turned toward the morning sunlight. Terrible as it might be, Adam felt as powerful as he did in Declan’s hotel room a week ago. “A Harvard degree doesn’t change who you are, Parrish.” Just like that, the knife had been turned, and still wet with Declan’s insides, he’d plunged it back into Adam’s chest. It felt deliciously awful. – A story of how Declan and Adam see who they really are through each other.
Teaser: The year is 2332. Humanity’s reach extends far into the cosmos, powered by technology created by the rare dreamers among the population. The energy used to power this intergalactic civilization comes from ley lines, great sources of power that cut through the Earth’s crust. But this power is running out. In uncharted deep space, the starship Glendower is on a mission to search for a planet with enough ley energy to sustain the growing, spacefaring human population. But just a few days into the crews’ investigation of a strange planet covered in dense forest, strange things start to happen.
Teaser: A cyberpunk inspired AU in which the world outside is near ruins but the tech is good, Ronan Lynch can pull things directly out of cyberspace. To try to avoid notice for the things that he can create, Ronan has an arrangement with Adam Parrish, who helps redistribute resources to those who are without. Of course, Ronan Lynch can’t avoid notice forever.
Teaser: When Aurora comes across an object she doesn’t trust, she visits 300 Fox Way for a second opinion. When Ronan Lynch, age 5, meets Blue Sargent, also age 5, everything changes.
Teaser: In Adam Parrish’s world, magical powers are almost as important as money. While his adopted sister Blue is falling in love with their new neighbor Mr. Gansey, Adam is butting heads with Gansey’s best friend, the arrogant Mr. Lynch, on everything from how to use one’s powers to how to show affection. Obviously, they aren’t going to fall in love…
Teaser: Once upon a time, Adam Parrish had not–if you’ll pardon him–given a good God damn about God or the devil. At eleven, Adam took for granted that praying did not mean an answered prayer. At twelve, he understood that devil was just another word for the man who lived in his house and shared his eye color. At thirteen, Adam realized that, actually, he was fucking wrong, that the devil was literal and maybe so was God. He knew this because one day, a demon crept into his parents’ trailer. As an adult, unmaking the rules of good and evil consumed Adam Parrish. Proving his experience was the undercurrent to everything he did. That was why it was so absolutely fucked up that when he did finally encounter a demon for the second time, he wasn’t even trying to do it.
Team #27: Declan is Ronan’s and Matthew’s adopted/foster father
Teaser: In which Ronan and Matthew are orphans, Jordan runs a daycare center, and Declan confronts his myriad of parental issues by becoming a parent himself.
Teaser: Since leaving Henrietta after high school, Gansey and Blue have been bouncing around the world looking for a place that fits. After more than ten years, they are almost ready to make some decisions, but first they decide to thru-hike the Appalachian Trail together. Along the way, Gansey revisits memories of the childhood that turned him into a lover of forests, mysteries, and traveling the world. Meanwhile, Ronan and Adam are creating their own family back at the Barns.
Teaser: Sometimes the recipe for domestic bliss is engineered emotional intimacy from art history monologues, forging paintings better than their originals, and art heists. Declan and Jordan steal through their engagement to save dreams with the ley lines down. They get the chance for a larger heist than they’ve ever dreamed of.
Team #33: AU where Cabeswater doesn’t bring Gansey back
Teaser: Seven years ago, Gansey woke up from something he shouldn’t have survived, and since then, he’s been on this track, this journey; he’s followed the tugs of the ley lines, though he hadn’t known them by name, not at first, and has travelled across the world. There’s never been a deadline, but Gansey feels there’s one forming. In Gansey’s dreams, which form during fitful bursts of sleep, he’s no longer brought back to the dark copse of trees that plagued him before and instead is shown a recasting of the vision, the prophecy, the promise that he’d been shown inside the tree in Cabeswater, with his king laid out in front of him, simply waiting to be awoken by him, of all people—and he’s pictured a thousand different ways the end to his nearly eight-year journey will go, imagined himself bowed in reverence and deference, imagined himself standing eye-to-eye, imagined a strong hand on his shoulder and hearing the voice of a man who’d conquered and fought and changed Gansey’s life asking him to claim, to state, to request his favor. Gansey’s thought of a thousand different favors, too.
Teaser: A young nobleman conspires to get kidnapped in a pirate town in the Caribbean in search of a dead Welsh king and encounters a childhood friend turned pirate captain, a quartermaster with one foot in the grave, an uncanny navigator, and, most importantly, a spitfire young shipwright who can speak to the wood of the ship itself, whose true love is destined to die before she ever kisses him. Luckily for him, the nobleman has died once already. Or, how Richard Campbell Gansey the Third finds himself aboard the legendary pirate ship, the Greywaren.
Team #36: The Lynches aren’t always fighting; sometimes, they’re asleep.
Teaser: Declan is abducted by someone looking for the Greywaren. Ronan starts seeing an apparition of Declan as a child running around The Barns. While reluctantly relying on his friends’ help with the investigation, Ronan comes to understand the legacy of trouble his father left his sons. Ronan is forced to confront the ways being Niall Lynch’s son shaped the relationships he has with his brothers.
