A lot of fans have talked about how much nicer the Hargreeves are to each other this season, how much better they are at being siblings, and so forth. And honestly, I think we have the 1-3 years they were all separated to thank for that. With the exception of Vanya (who forgot everything) and Five (who was told shortly after landing that his siblings were still living) they all seemed to believe what Klaus and Allison did—that everyone else died and they were the only survivors. There’s a huge difference between thinking “Oh, I might have to see my siblings again someday” and “Holy shit, I’ll never get to see them again.” Prior to S1, they spent their time apart mulling over all the reasons why they left, stewing over all the awful things their siblings had done to them. Prior to S2, they spent their time apart taking inventory of all the awful things they’d done to their siblings and all the reasons why they should’ve been kinder.

And when they meet up again, I think they all have the same sense of wonder Vanya expresses: “I have a brother? I can’t believe I have a sister!” They spent years thinking they were alone, only to learn the siblings they thought they’d wronged forever were still out there, ready and willing to make amends. Of course they’re nicer to each other. They’re no longer resentful of the family they were forced into; they’re grateful for the family they still have.

Sadly this doesnt extend to Five for most of the season, as they (esp Luther and Diego) continue to take out their frustration on him.

I mean, Five pretty much continually treats all of his siblings like dumb children and doesn’t let on that his abrasive attitude comes from repressed trauma until relatively late in the season, so I’d say it’s more that they’re all emotionally constipated and act accordingly, not that everyone just bullies Five for fun and profit.

Back to talk about this shit

It’s nearly 2021 and people still compare trauma as if it’s funny? #lutherhate is so fucking last year (literally) I can’t believe some people still like this shit

OP is missing a few knives in Luther’s back. Namely:

-isolated from siblings due to parental favoritism
-brainwashed into thinking Reginald’s abuse was for his own good
-has only had one love interest likely due to inability to relate to anyone outside the family
-never had friends outside the family
-suffers from severe body dysmorphia esp. in S1
-sent on a most likely thinly veiled suicide mission to THE most isolated location possible
-suffered from effects of prolonged solitary confinement, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, and perhaps hallucinations
-frequently starved while there and ignored by parent
-eating disorder
-told by parent he was unwanted

Did I miss any?
