I’ve been wanting to do a street snap wearing old school EGL/EGA (the lines were more blurred back then) for a while, but taking your own pictures with the self-timer of a DSLR with no front screen, in the middle of a street, is not easy. Good thing the only traffic in that street consisted of pedestrians and bicycles.
Outfit rundown: Dress: second-hand Carina e Arlequin † Blouse: second-hand Innocent World Purse: second-hand Moi-même-Moitié Shoes: Yosuke Cameo: vintage Headbow: second-hand Baby, the Stars Shine Bright Parasol: Alice and the Pirates (bought new, but in 2010)
I was snapped on the street by @tokyo67 (on Instagram) walking Madame Bissonnette. He was nice enough to send me the raw pictures by email (I corrected the light and colours a bit, but it was really sunny, so that’s all I could do without editing too much). For more pictures, see my Instagram post
Streets in Japan are like no other so clean, so quite, so narrow. I prefer to do it out on the streets because it’s where I’m going to be; out on the streets! Also, as a photographer lover, shooting self-portraits out on the streets gives me confidence and helps me align the way I feel with the way I look. I can only feel completely good in my outfit only if I reach the level of confidence that the outfit deserves.
Who would have known purple, red, white and blue would look amazing together and make a vivid yet soft palette color for your outfit. Replace your conventional shoe laces with organza ones for a girly and delicate touch.
