I am the shadow of a forest lake, whose waters wash the grey shores of sorrow. My half-sisters are drowned, their souls dissolving in the muddy water, wandering behind me on gray cloudy evenings, trying to grab the hem of my dress. I am a shadow without voice, without name, without age and memory of the past. Sometimes in the monochrome ripples of the water I could read the words, in its hieroglyphs of shadows and reflections, the words spoken before the Exodus, before the inevitable death, the words of the doomed. At such moments, like a cold stone snake penetrated into my heart, and pain fettered all my inside. I tried to erase the words with the darkness that enveloped me, but in vain. My tears could not erase the pain that soaked the waters of this lake. I was just a shadow, one that couldn’t change the flow of time and the flow of water. I could only watch. Then, overcoming a shiver, I lay down on the water and looked into the gray sky, hidden by a veil of clouds that were so inaccessible, and it seemed to me in them, as in this lake, there is the same shadow that could only feel the coldness of this lake of tears.

Calling the Goths! I have posted tiny houses and cottages, but never one like this. It’s a little gothic mini mansion.

The Gothic Victorian Mini Mansion is hand built with reclaimed and vintage materials, a Mansard roof, a tower and Emmet the gargoyle guard to keep watch!

The Great Room of the Gothic Victorian is a blend of plush, regal and cozy. Relax and play the piano, sip a glass of wine or a cup of tea.

The kitchen is large enough to entertain, and has dishes and glassware for 8.

The kitchen has reclaimed quartz counters, a full-sized fridge and sink.

The antique sofa and chairs are red velvet and quite sumptuous!

The antique, brass fireplace glows with flickering, remote controlled candles, and the custom sliding door leads to the full bath.

Take a bath in the cast iron, claw-foot tub!

A copper sink and quartz counter.

The “tower” adds a large entryway, with hooks for garments, and a round, stained glass window.

The Gothic Victorian living room from the loft.

There is room in the loft for storage.

The bedroom loft is over 6 feet tall!

The custom stairs are behind the fireplace doors, under a carved, brass chandelier.

The alternating stairs make an easy access to the loft bedroom.

Drapes can be opened to enclose the entire loft, creating a private, Gothic cocoon!

The candles in their candelabras create just the right mood!

The Gothic Victorian takes architectural cues from the late 1800s and has to be one of the best recycled tiny houses I’ve seen.

This is gorgeous!

Inktober Day #17 is Lucy Loud from Loud House. I’ve only seen a small handful of episodes of Loud House but from what I’ve seen, the show is cute and probably one of the better post 2010 cartoons to come out as it reminds me of cartoons from like the early 2000s and I’ll definitely have to check out more episodes in the future. Anyway, people kept raving on and on about Lucy Loud and so I looked into her. Design-wise, she was pretty interesting but to be blunt, she is not a Goth. After watching a clip of her best moments and in one segment, a reporter (I think?) asks her what her favorite music genre is and she replied with “Death Metal”, that pretty much said it all.

It’s a bummer because I was thinking they would’ve taken a page from South Park and say “Goth rock” or at the very least, “Post-Punk” but alas, her character was another missed opportunity. That said, while she’s not “Goth”, she’s another Darkly-Inclined character who has definitely become another icon so that’s cool I guess.  Anyway, drawing her was interesting and I know that technically her hair is supposed to cover both of her eyes but I just didn’t like how it looked in my style lol

Inktober Day #4 - Rogue

Next up in the Inktober challenge of Darkly-Inclined characters is Rogue from X-Men Evolution. Rogue is easily a classic for me as she was one of the first Gothic looking characters I saw in a cartoon. I loved her design and her tough yet sensitive and thoughtful personality. It was quite different from the original spunky southern lass she originally was portrayed as in the original X-Men comics and 90s Animated series but as far as spinoffs go, I liked what they did with her for Evolution and I like both depictions of the character.

Next up for the Inktober challenge of Darkly Inclined characters is the amusing but underrated Creepy Susie from The Oblongs who was originally from her own book series “Creepy Susie and 13 Other Tragic Tales for Troubled Children”.

Truth be told I’ve only seen a few snippets from the book but I got to see her in The Oblongs and I thought she was humorous. She’s a pretty underrated character as it seems not many people have heard of her but I highly recommend checking out the Oblongs and giving the book a look if you’re into positively dark humor. :)

While Creepy Susie is not really a “Goth” in my opinion, she’s definitely darkly-inclined / Gothic-inclined and she’s easily one of the most lovable around. <3

Inktober Day#2 (Tuesday) was Triana Orpheus from The Venture Bros. Easily one of my favorites and I wished she was more of a regular character in that show. She’s honestly one of the only actual Goths in animation. I still remember being surprised that they actually referenced Bauhaus with her as she had a “In the Flat Field” poster in her room.

And not to mention she was actually voiced by the awesome Lisa Hammer, best known as the singer for 90s Goth rock bands Requiem in White & Mors Syphilitica. <3

Anyway yeah, It was so fun to draw her. Onto day 3!
