I can finally talk about it!

A few months ago, Tolkien’s French publishers gave me a lovely (top secret) mission ; I had to update and correct the pre-existing translations of Brian Sibley’s texts accompanying John Howe’s versions of the maps of Middle-earth, first published in France in 1996.

I spent several weeks working on the maps of Third Age Middle-earth, making sure all the proper names and place-names were in line with the new translations of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings, correcting typos and mistranslations. I’ve also translated the introduction which didn’t appear in the first French publication.

Those two maps should be republished in France in Fall, and this is very exciting!

(And in the meanwhile, I learned yesterday that I was offered a contract by an important publishing house, for the translation of an amazing novel written by a young American writer, and I’m still astounded)
