Witchy and Herbal Sleep Remedies

Everyone has insomnia sometimes, but instead of turning to potentially habit-forming sleeping medication, consider trying these remedies first.

1.DIY Sleep Spray – Spritz a little of this potion on your pillow and reap the benefits. For extra witchy benefits, charge the distilled water under the light of the full moon.

2.  Lavender Sleep Balm Make this easy sleep balm to ease anxiety-induced dreams and constant worrying. Easier to make than a traditional salve and a great craft for beginners.

3.Chamomile Bath Bombs – Its no secret that Recreational Witchcraft loves bath magic, and what better way to get ready for bed than with a relaxing bedtime ritual in the warm water.

4.Lavender Sleep Oil – Lavender is one of the best herbs for relaxation, but the pure essential oil can be incredibly irritating to the skin. This mixture makes the oil palatable to your body and mind.

5.Herbal Sleep Pillows – Simple and customizable, ideal for witches just getting started or for those without a wide array of herbs at their disposal. Put under your pillow and cleanse once a moon cycle.

6.Sleepy Tea Potion – Another remedy using primarily chamomile, but this is an easy spell that emphasizes ritual over ingredients. Let the magic lull yourself into a gentle sleep.

7.Make a Sleep Circle – This post gives several ideas for creating pretty and effective sleep enchantments. Not only are these ideas aesthetically pleasing crafts, but they are conspicuous enough for secret witches.

8.Make a Crystal Grid – If you find yourself more of a crystal oriented practitioner, considering fashioning a cute crystal grid on your bedside table. Cleanse every quarter moon.

aloe vera is the most satisfying plant and it has tons of skincare benefits! It moisturizes, prevents signs of aging, reduces acne and acne scars/pigmentation and helps with sunburns! It also can promote hair growth.

Plant dad here, just know that this isn’t a bandwagon thing or something that in a year people will say “actually it’s bad for you” I’ve been growing it for years and it’s only harmful if you’re allergic!

Cleansing Spray

This is a super simple cleansing spray for those whose situations prevent them from burning herbs. I use this when I have to cleanse something too large that calls for an amount of smoke that’d set the smoke detectors off (it’s happened; its notfun). Here’s what you need:

  • Rosemary.
  • Sage (I use basic sage, not white sage, but you can use whatever).
  • A bay leaf.
  • Salt.
  • Good ‘ol H2O.

NOTE: the bay leaf is totally optional. I include it because I use bay leaves to help grant wishes. It adds a boost to the cleansing properties, and gives an oomph to the spellwork.

Directions

Put the water in a pot on the stove and toss in the salt, rosemary, sage, and bay leaf. Bring to a boil, then reduce it to medium and let it simmer for a few minutes, so the oils seep out of the herbs. The wonderful scented steam will cleanse your kitchen in the process!

Once you’re satisfied (or until the water is a yellow-green color - yes, it willlook like pee), take the pot off, pour the water into a safe container, and let it cool. Once it’s cool enough, bottle it up and you’re good to go! I always put some sprigs in my bottle just for the sake of it, too!

These aren’t all my watercolor supplies by a long shot  They’re just what I could fit on the desk.
