It’s #TransSpotlightSaturday today, and we are featuring Mayam Garris (they/them), a Black agender farmer helping run a queer & trans community farm in Albuquerque, New Mexico!

For Mayam, trans empowerment is “a way of self determination, inspiration, and liberation. We determine where we are and where we want to go. Envisioning our futures and the futures of our kin moving forward.”

You can follow their work on the farm and community garden on Instagram at utilityqueer!

Trans people exist all around us, in every sphere of life! We aren’t all well-known actors, artists, authors, poets, or drag performers. Some of us are farmers! Some of us bake as a hobby! Some of us are students, or don’t have a main hobby, or are still figuring out where we belong. There is no single correct way to be trans or to embody our transness – it all deserves to be acknowledged.

Are you a trans person who is doing something empowering, inspiring, or just plain cool? Do you know a trans person committed to trans joy? Nominate yourself or someone else here: bit.ly/TEPspotlight

It’s #TransSpotlightSaturday, and today we are highlighting Jamie Malone (they/them), a mixed non-binary digital artist!

They not only create digital art for themself and for commissions, but they also created art for a billboard promoting the importance of trans life.

For Jamie, trans empowerment is important because “along with the encouragement of uplifting fellow trans friends into their power, it brings in constant reassurance of who I am within my identity. What I have given in love and support has returned to me 10-fold, and that cycle will always continue.”

You can find Jamie’s artwork and their top surgery fund on Instagram (ArtByJMalone), their website (jamiemalone.com), or their LinkTree (linktr.ee/jmalone)! Thanks for creating such wonderful art, Jamie!
