One of the best examples of a found family. This sweet little (slightly beathen up, but oh well…) union just never disappoints (I only wish Sakura could be with them). Honestly, found family trope is one of the best tropes there are.
I like the idea of Fai settling down with Kurogane in Nihon post journey. His original country Celes was winter based - frozen in place and time, where nothing begins and nothing ends, where nothing can grow before ice and snow melt - just like Fai’s mental cage. Nihon on other hand, it’s spring based, beside Japanese thematics. Spiring can be associated with new beginnings, growth and healing after long period of stagnation.
And also: right after Celes arc where everything that could go down did go down, and where ice began to ‘melt’ (Fai being forced to face his past and everything he’d rather keep 'frozen in time’), they went right to Nihon.

I reread Tsubasa recently. That was my 2 or 3 reread and it still, as in the past, so hurt.
впервые я наткнулась на Хроники Крыльев, пожалуй, что-то около ~10лет назад(жесть). это был эдит с курофаями под kiss my eyes and lay me to sleep Х)) разумеется меня тогдашнюю это все кошмарно заинтересовало и вот так я и прочитала хроники в первый раз.
ну и в общем-то все, больше из этого не выбраться, раз в несколько лет накатывает и я перечитываю, сейчас вот погрязла снова и боже мой это кошмар насколько же спустя даже кучу времени, даже примерно зная уже заранее все что будет, насколько же это все равно каждый раз ошеломляюще.
More Tsubasa Chronicle spoilers? Another problem I had was Xing Huo’s treatment writing wise, she seemed like she would become more relevant but she was just the means to an end and did not get her own arc, unlike Kyle for example. (And her death was overly heavy even for CLAMP standards..)
As an artificial being I actually hoped she would in some way connect to the Mokonas or become a guide to Xiaolang.
Random but anyone else have trans headcanons for Fai (and Kurogane too while we’re there)? Clamp enforces a lot of rigid gender roles on their gay couples unfortunately but back then I loved a lot of the mom comparisons for Fai out of different (baby trans) reasons.
Tsubasa Chronicle spoilers? Some writing problems I have. I think pushing some of Tsubasa Chronicle’s weird clone developments into the main storyline rather than the “backstory that eventually comes to light and becomes relevant” would have made for more compelling storytelling. (An idea I had was the villain switching the clone Sakura in right in the beginning when her feathers are scattered, so your journey would have not been restoring memories but instead GIVING another’s memories to a new husk body without being aware of it, thus the significance of Fei Wang Reed’s goal being more clear -> giving life to a lifeless body and harnessing power for it via the dimension travel).
Also some things need to be simplified. And the “clones are your parents” thing is just weird. Why do they have to wait in a tube looking like middle schoolers?
Does anyone ACTUALLY understand King Ashura’s motivations? I sure don’t. The first curse had already been activated in the end. So he wants to be killed by Fai to avoid the second curse. Couldn’t he just be polite and tell everyone what’s up instead of being so dramatic about it?
