Rewatching Tangled the Series. Only halfway through Season 2 so far, but I noticed how Cass’s wardrobe is interestingly significant…
- Her handmaiden outfit was too bright and restrictive, it obviously did not suit her as the natural fighter she is. Her brown travelling clothes are so bland it makes her fade in the background, especially when compared to Rapunzel and Eugene’s vibrant clothes. And her Moonstone outfit warped her to the point she’s no longer recognizable as the Cass we know from the first 2 seasons.
- Sure, the black of her armor and sword reflects her role as a fighter that the handmaiden outfit never could. Sure, the bright blue of her hair gives her the vibrancy that her bland brown outfit never did. But it’s simultaneously too brightandtoo dark. There’s no balance to it that it looks like she’s unsure of who she is.
- All that makes her green outfit in the series finale especially more notable. The green is unrestrictive and dark enough it suits her personality, unlike her handmaiden outfit. The green distinguishes her from the other characters that she no longer fades in the background, unlike her travelling outfit. The green matches her eyes, highlights it, and gives her the type of vibrancy that the blue of the Moonstone never could. It’s not too bright nor too dark. It’s perfectly balanced and it looks like she’s found who she’s meant to be.
Lastly, I really missed protective!Cass. It’s why I didn’t enjoy Season 3 quite as much.
Imagine if…
…the season 2 cliffhanger was all fake. The moonstone messed with Rapunzel’s mind and warped her reality into her worst fears.
It started with Cass’s betrayal. Then maybe something with Eugene in the 3rd season’s opener, and so on and so forth. But by the end of the 1st/2nd episode, everyone’s all, “Raps! Wake UP!”
Then we all worried over nothing.
(Yes, I realize it’s a cheap move if this is actually what happens)
[Theory] Cass will die in the series finale
Either Raps will have to defeat her for good, or Cass dies a herioc death to save Raps.
The Sundrop and the Moonstone would have to be destroyed in the finale, right? How else would Raps have gotten her brown hair back in TEA?
Now, the Sundrop only affected Raps’s hair. But the Moonstone is right at Cass’s heart and has encompassed her entire body. Ergo, Raps only loses her hair, but Cass loses her life.
It could be a bittersweet, “I wish it didn’t have to come down to this…” or “There MUST be a way to save you…” (hint: there isn’t). Or it could be a heartbreaking, “I’m sorry. But I have no choice…” type of scene.
However it plays out, we’ll probably lose Cass by the end of the series. I DON’T want it to happen, but I can’t help thinking it will.

Crescent Moon?
So, as someone who as been rewriting the Tangled ‘Cassandra’s Revenge’ episode and thus rewatching it obsessively, I’d like to point out that the moon is full during Rap’s and Cass’s fight:
and is not full afterwards (after Eugene’s birthday party):
Coincidence? Most definitely. I’m just kinda chuckling at the background artists here.
(Unless, of course, it has something to do with the fact that Rapunzel just made the moonstone chip and the actual moon is now crescent to reflect that in some bizarre and fantastical turn of events full of foreboding and obscure foreshadowing… But no, that’s absurd. Absurd I tell you. Scientifically impossible.)
