Terry Parris Jr. created Bee Detroit, a video about beekeeping in the city of Detroit.  Proof that you don’t have to live in a rural area to harvest bees. 

More than 100 agricultural crops are pollinated by bees, imagine having to do all of this by hand! Honey can help those with allergies since the bees collect pollen from plants around where you live, the small amounts present in the honey you eat (provided you’re eating local honey) can help immunize the body meaning minimal reactions during the allergy season. 

Don’t forget the many uses in skin and hair care that honey provides. 

Well the honey harvesting season is over for us and its time to do some light, open feeding. This helps prevent our stronger hives from robbing and starving out the weaker hives

This is one of our most productive honey bee queens, she is currently laying about 2,000 eggs per day

Thanks to a call from some local good samaritans, we were able to rescue this swarm of about 6,000 honey bees and give them a safe home :)
