I don’t have many cacti in my succulent collection, but one of the few I do have is a Cephalocereus senilis, Old Man Cactus.  Using my cell phone macro lens I took an up close look at its wispy white hair and prickly hidden spines.  It looks quite lovely up close!

The smallest of the narcissus has been the first to open its flower, but the taller ones are about to do it too! The pink hyacint seems also eager to display its colours. Today there was a sale on succulents at the same store and mom brought some, they are very pretty! I’ll check their names later.

The amaryllis opened the 5th flower! Sadly the other ones are beginning to wrinkle, but it still looks super pretty. Most of the autumnal bulbs I planted around the 1st of November sprouted already and are doing fine, I changed their place in the greenhouse so they get more sunlight.

Today there was a sale of small flowers and bulbs in a nearby market, I bought african violets, pink chrisanthemums (I gave one to mum for her office), a pink kalanchoe, blue and pink hyacints and narcissus.

Cracked Ceramic Eggs are an Eggcellent Way to Grow Your Own Plants

No matter how you take your eggs, chances are that it isn’t like this. Called Egglings, the unique ceramic planter invites you to crack open the shell (with a spoon), add water, and watch the plant grow. Each Eggling has enough nutrients for five months worth of growing. Once that period is over, simply replant it in a larger pot. For extra fertilizer, break down the rest of the egg and incorporate the leftover soil into its new home. Get an Eggling of your own from Firebox.com.
